Hi Da Norm, welcome to TWC!

Your problem is likely the same one that scores of members have posted about here in the past 9 or so months. It is a security update for Windows operating systems that disabled a driver, which is required by the game for a copyright check which must be completed before the game will allow itself to be started. So, effectively, without the check, the game believes it is pirated and won't do anything.

I have documented the problem thoroughly here, including several different solutions, depending on your wants and needs:

Tracking down your Kingdoms disc will be very useful, too, as I suspect it will run fine when you install it (but the original Medieval 2 will not - but this is no big deal, as you will discover once you read the above thread).

Let me know how you get on.

    Cheers, Frunk.

Hi. Ive been following these issues with interest. My copy of mw2 also wont work. However what i get is the game starting in audio only. the screen stays blank and the comp needs a reboot to get out of it.

A trust me when i say ive attempted everything. safedisc issue,dl from steam, clean win10 64 install, ram upgrade, gcard upgrade to gtx 770,the works. And still game kicks off in sound only. Very annoying. Any ideas welcome.

Just to confirm, you are sure it's the game's sound, and not the music played by the Launcher.exe?

def the game sound. hitting esc will skip to the start page you just cant see it to quit again nor will task manager minimise it so you have to reboot. very annoying :/

Very bizarre. It does seem you've already tried anything I might suggest. Do you have access to another computer to see if you can install it on there? Or perhaps you could buy a "new" disc? Sorry I can't offer you much else.

You could just activate the game on steam with your CD Key. The steam version should run fine.
