    Default Rebuilding the Great Sept

(If someone could quote me on how much the royal treasure will have to spend, be my guest)

Almost as soon as the Small Council meeting was adjourned, Baratheon had sent for the best builders he could find throughout the Capital and the Crownlands in short notice, and had paid them using the royal treasury to rebuild the Great Sept of Baelor. Goldcloaks buzzed about the smouldering ruin along with labourers, guarding the proceedings from the crowds, as the burnt rubble was cleared away. Any useful stone would be re-used, for the Sept had only been partially destroyed. Thankfully, the gardens that surrounded it remained mostly intact, although the statue of Baelor himself had been scarred by the flames. It would take considerable effort to restore the Sept, but it could be done, and was certainly necessary for the restructuring of ties between the Faith and the Crown.

OOC: Just noting that the new high septon should probably be contacted and have this discussed with him.

Shaera came immediately from the gates to survey the damage that had been done. Damn Aerys. A monster he fought to win his crown but a monster he became nonetheless. She decided to give an imoromotu speech to the peasants that had folowed her. "I take responsibility for my son's actions." she said. "This is a crime that has offended the gods, and weakened our connection to them. But this I vow: it shall be rebuilt." she gestured to the Sept. "But simply restoring this Sept will not be enough to atone for such a greivous sin. More must be done. I announce to you here and now that I shall personally fund the construction of a temple desicated to the Mother. Because it is only through the Mother's Mercy that House Targaryen can be forgiven for such a crime against the gods. Once it is completed I shall fast and pray within it for seven days and seven nights. Maybe then I can be forgiven for my negligemce...and my cowardice." her voice faltered. "When I departed the capital this year past I fid so out of fear. The king, my own son, threatened to have me hanged if I did not leave. He did this because I did not convict Lord Tarth of treason. Aerys was my son, but he was an evil king."

Ooc: my temple will be like a tier 1 building. The sept is probably like a tier 4 buikding. Maybe half the cost of a tier 4 building to restore it?
