Playing on HP Pavilion laptop with Windows 10 (previously it was Windows 8.1).
Well then. I made a fresh installment of my entire M2TW game on my computer, just to make absolutely sure nothing screwy happens. Then I made a fresh install of EB II, following the instructions very carefully, turning off UAC beforehand, and putting my entire M2TW directory in C:\GAMES\SEGA\Medieval II Total War (i.e. so that Program Files and Program Files x86 are not used at all). I then took fiddled with the security settings and took complete ownership of the entire directory of folders and files.
I was hoping that would fix the age-old problem I had with v. 2.1 regarding certain Eastern and steppe faction units looking incredibly funky and wrong in terms of their texture files and even their skeletal models not looking right (not sure if anyone else has had this problem, although I'm assuming others do). I'm a wee bit disappointed to discover that I will once again have to rely on DBM (De Bello Mundi) units to fill the gaps and replace entire units in this game that are just beyond salvagable. I give you the heavy eastern cavalry, the khuveshavagan, as one of the worst examples of this (strangely enough, I have to take crappy shots with my iPhone because taking "print screen" shots for TGA files somehow magically makes the units look okay, as if nothing was wrong when I was originally looking at them...I swear, at this point you guys are just messing with me):
Another example? The new Armenian bodyguard unit. They're not nearly as horrible looking as the halfway invisible Khuveshavagan, but notice how all of their eyeballs are missing and you can actually see through their eyeballs and out the back of their heads to view what's behind them! Plus little things like the horse's ears are missing and if you twist the camera just right their capes becomes somewhat invisible too.
There are several more units with similar problems, but it's too exasperating to bring all of it up and take documentary evidence this time. I felt compelled to do so this time around before fixing everything manually. That being said, can someone here explain to me what in the hell is going on with my copy of EB II? This is the second time now, with a completely different version of this mod, on a totally fresh install of the entire game. It's certainly nothing wrong on my end. Someone here has some explaining to do.
Oh, and just for the record, this is the only mod I have ever played that has ever had this problem.
Grrrrrrr......
Aside from that, good job guys. I just wish you wouldn't give me a 2-3-hour chore fixing most of these units in the EDU and battle_models files before I feel comfortable playing.
