The "devs" are voluntary modders as opposed to paid devs. They are always in need of modelers, skinners, 2d artists and coders/scripters. If only I was able to do any of that stuff, then I would have applied to (re)join years ago... Do so if you can help them in those areas and share in the glory of delivering one of the best mods made for any game...

They can only do what they can and when they can.

And 2D artists. I hope no one on the team minds me saying we especially need unit skinners and 2D artists for building icons, faction icons/symbols. We only have/had one active skinner for quite some time now, who seems to be on a(well-deserved) hiatus.

Traits and ancillaries needs lots of work. The EDCT and EDA are actually somewhat easy/straightforward to mod and I encourage anyone really passionate about helping us who finds themselves without modding skills to try and learn about the EDA/EDCT(I can recommend an excellent tutorial for this). If a klutz like me was able to learn how to do simple EDCT/EDA stuff, then surely lots of other people can . Then again, "can" isn't the issue here; it's "will" people want to learn?

Please do! I've already been tinkering with the scripting language to put in some perma-unrest depending on faction ownership* but I'm a bit scared of breaking something Time management isn't my brightest trait (Sharp/Charismatic/Languorous ) but I believe I may be able to assign a weekday to it

I've also been researching historical name changes or quasi historical reconstructions for settlement names (see here) but I often have a hard time finding in-detail info in what few reliable sources I have access to. A seemingly well-written Wiki article had me reading a full chapter of Naturalis Historia (both from the Latin and the translation) for something that apparently wasn't there Well, I digress... Send over the tutorial!

    * Perpetually triggered unrest for any sedentary faction owning a steppe settlement for the beginning...

It's for RTW but it's still extremely useful for M2TW. That guide covers most things; the rest is experience and the hard way.

    Couple of notes:

    Anti-traits don't work in M2TW

Event counters can be used in M2TW but not RTW AFAIK.

Avoid using equal tokens in the EDCT/EDA(try to use > or < instead; avoid <= or >= too).

Can't help with the name changes/reconstructions really. I just try to use google scholar(accepted during my studies) or another academically respected search engine to find out reliable info on a historical subject.

^ This is me, crying because I don't have xHolyCrusader's new Barbarian battle-map city-level settlement for Celtic and Germanic factions (with a large number of new structures, destructible walls, and last but not least, no awful lag and frame drops).

Seriously, EB II team, you are monsters! How could you say no to this precious darling baby? How could you deny him what he wants? How cruel of you to take [xHolyCrusader's battle map eye] candy from a baby!

    You spelled "VAE VICTIS" incorrectly.

I assume that there is no "recommended" AI difficulty?

    1. Download this and install.

    2. Follow step two of the instructions in the link here.
    1) The game works fine without doing this.

    2) The download demands that I choose a folder to "extract" something into. I tried program files, it didn't work, and I have no idea what to do.

    3) The instruction in Step 2 involves downloading C++ to check something in response to an error. I have absolutely no idea how this relates to anything.

    4) It's rather bad form to provide weird and undecipherable instructions while claiming they are "mandatory" when they actually aren't. Did you mean that they're mandatory because they're the only way to stop certain CTDs or other bugs?

    5) It's also bad form to link to someone else's instructions when you could have explained them yourself in a proper context.

For the most part, Hard or Very Hard will result in a more aggressive AI, rebels in particular, and the new CAI means those choices don't automatically trigger the never-ending flood of AI death stacks. My personal preference is H/H. If you are new to EB2 or like a slow paced role-playing game, then Medium is probably the better choice.

Yes it's mandatory as we have had reports of Windows 10 users experiencing random crashes due to missing C++ runtimes midgame.
If you want to avoid those, you can follow the new instructions.

    Part 1

    1. Download this.

    2. Right click on your desktop and select the "Create New Folder" option from the menu, then open up the folder you just created

    3. Left click on the top bar to select the directory.

    4. Right click on the directory you just highlighted and copy it for example C:\Users\owner\Desktop\New folder

    5. Now open the exe file you just downloaded, when prompted to extract the files paste in the directory by pressing CTRL + V or right clicking the bar and saying paste.

    6. And finally, open up the folder on your desktop you created (for example, New Folder) and find the new exe there. Proceed with the installation.
Instructions three to six don't seem to bear any relevance to my installation. When I opened the download, it simply asked for a location to extract the files to. Maybe other people are experiencing different things, but surely it wouldn't change within the same OS?

Either follow the instructions carefully or don't, it's up to you.

If you experience crashes in the future - like I said, don't complain... You must proceed with the installation not just extract. We're not paid to do this, we're just trying to make sure people have the most enjoyable experience possible.

The Stonehenge wonder appears in the settlement along the Thames, not in the Pritanoi starting settlement. I assume that this wasn't intentional?

It was moved as part of the unique buildings review, and will be in the right place in 2.2c.

In the diplomacy screen press help (the ? at the top right corner).
    Click the adviser.
    Prepare your proposal.
    Click Show-me-how.
    Send your proposal.

    Doesn't work with bribes.
Just to note in 2.2c, this has been moved to the main script, and works with simply clicking on "?" when you have a proposal.

Please note everyone, there is now a 2.2c patch to try out numerous updated bits (no new units, though). There's new animations (swordsmen/axemen no longer atrocious regardless of stats), new CAI and BAI, a fix to the recruitment limitation freeze that often hit the player, revisions to reforms that weren't working, hugely updated recruitment, updated unit stats and much more.

I can't say when 2.3 (the full release) will be arriving, so if you've been waiting for it before starting a new game, I'd recommend playing 2.2c with a faction you don't normally play.

I did. I'm saying that I had no idea what those instructions are for, because nothing I did required them.

Then you didn't download the correct thing - you should have a screen like this asking you to extract.

Is there another download link where it's split in four parts like other mods to download? My pc keeps cutting off at 66% download and then i have to start all over again.

Why don't you just download the torrent? Torrents are automatically protected from that sort of problem. Just be sure to use qbittorrent as your client.
