    Kyburger Foot Knights - WIP

Spoiler Alert, click show to read:

The house of Kyburg was one of the ruleing families in the beginning of the 13th century in Switzerland. Their coat of arm is represented as two yellow lions on a red base. It is the newer coat of arms as they had an older one which was black. The other coat of arms are vassals of the Kyburgers.

Very nice choice of colors and coat of arms. They are technically just another group of men with swords, but you managed to give it a sense of diversity from other knights. Thumbs up!

    ~Wille
Thorolf was thus armed. Then Thorolf became so furious that he cast his shield on his back, and, grasping his halberd with both hands, bounded forward dealing cut and thrust on either side. Men sprang away from him both ways, but he slew many. Thus he cleared the way forward to earl Hring's standard, and then nothing could stop him. He slew the man who bore the earl's standard, and cut down the standard-pole. After that he lunged with his halberd at the earl's breast, driving it right through mail and body, so that it came out at the shoulders; and he lifted him up on the halberd over his head, and planted the butt-end in the ground. There on the weapon the earl breathed out his life in sight of all, both friends and foes. [...] 53, Egil's Saga
I must tell you here of some amusing tricks the Comte d'Eu played on us. I had made a sort of house for myself in which my knights and I used to eat, sitting so as to get the light from the door, which, as it happened, faced the Comte d'Eu's quarters. The count, who was a very ingenious fellow, had rigged up a miniature ballistic machine with which he could throw stones into my tent. He would watch us as we were having our meal, adjust his machine to suit the length of our table, and then let fly at us, breaking our pots and glasses.

Great work! Switzerland had Ohr has different Cantons, maybe you can include some of these Banners into the Mod. That Would be Great. Swiss had also good mercenaries , like for the Papal States.

    What do you mean?

These are all tier 1 units which means from 1212 till the end of the 13th century, in this time period there were no cantons (cantons btw were formed about 500 years later) nor a Confederacy and the Swiss territory was ruled by nobles.

However I get what you mean. I'm working now on the tier 2 units which are part of the Confederacy so you will see things like that:

Four units of the Confederacy fight off thier ruleing nobles.

4 Units of the "Old Place" Uri and Zurich

Hey Baron its me again, thanks for posting the links in the other thread.

So the team of MKTW 1212 just posted a video on their official youtube channel showcasing the Swiss Waldstaette. I was wondering if the faction of Schwyz or now this (re-named or additional) faction of Swiss Waldstaetten is gonna have your units, which you have posted above (e.g. Kyburg and so forth)?

Thanks for clarifying and great work btw.

    Cheers,

Yes we did change the name of the faction since we all thought Schwyz didn't work and it's too early to call it the Swiss Confederacy. It's the same faction just different name.

Because Schwyz is just one of the cantons, and cannot represent the whole Waldstaatten of the Confederacy?

Yeah you are right, Schwyz is just a canton in Switzerland. In 1212, there was no "Confederacy" nor "Switzerland", it was a territory which was ruled by nobles, noble families like Kyburg or the Zähringer and others. In 1291 or 1307 (there are
different sources) the Swiss Waldstätte (Schweizer Waldstätte or "Die drei alten Orte"(Uri, Schwyz and Unterwald)) formed a confederacy to fight off their noble oppressors. That's why we decided to rename "Schwyz" to "Swiss Waldstätte",
it represents the faction way better as it was in reality.

Thanks for clarifying and great work btw.

    The roster itself is seperated:

Tier 1 are units of the ruleing nobles, tier 2 are units of the confederacy(Uri (black bull on yellow ground), Schwyz (white cross on red) and Unterwald (the banner with the keys)) and tier 3 will also be units of the growing Old Confederacy.
