Default The Grand Feast of Oldtown (266 AL)

    ~ 266 AL ~

With the King having declared House Hightower as the official Lord Paramounts of the Honeywine in regards of their local authority, so the King was able to win allies for his course within the Reach, while removing literally an unpleasant thorn from his side by doing so,
Lord Rolland Hightower used the opportunity to prepare a grand feast at Oldtown, which could rival the festivities on royal court. All High Lords and minor Houses recieved invitations to this event, while the attendance of the feast by the other Lord Paramounts and the King was favored as well. However, House Hightower used the feast as well to remember those, who would attend upon former days of House Hightower, when they were known as the Kings of the High Tower. The bards, hired for the event, had cooperated with the Citadel on Lord Hightower's order to combine historic facts, provided by the Maesters with the origins of Oldtown,
telling how the Hightowers began to discover the shores of Westeros as a tradesman and seafarer,
how the first men came to build the actual foundations of Oldtown,
tales about the legendary King Uthor of the High Tower,
how the Faith of the Seven has inhabitated Oldtown for a long time as the religious center of Westeros
and other known Reachmen folk tales surrounding the region, among them being most prominent the fables of the merlings and merman, rumored to be spotted for several times along the coasts of the Honeywine.

The food, served for this occuring event offered a grand variety from several provinces of Westeros and even partly from the free cities.
Wine from the Arbor, Bread being baked from Riverlander grain, bear and moose flesh from the North as well as the traditional deer and boars, who were served on several plates in an oppulent way. The storages of House Hightower had been increased for this event, while they hoped many guests would attend the party apart from their own vassals - and if not, they would probably spend the rests to either the freefolk, the Oldtown City Watch and those among the Maesters of the Citadel, who simply couldn't resist to ask the Hightowers for small favors due to the nature of their grateful overlords.

OOC: Need a roll, whether Lord Florent will attend the feast or not, as he's now my sworn vassal. Lord Rolland has +3 Charisma (1 from regional bonus) +2 due to the feast.

With Lord Florent arriving as one of the first guests among the party, Lord Rolland offers him a seat along their table due to the Florents being officially the vassals of House Hightower. While the tables were already ordered in a row, it would become obvious to a point that House Hightower arranged the tables in a row with the King, the Redwynes and the Tullys sitting also in nearby range due to the King and his retiniue being the most favored guest of the Hightowers upon these festivities, while both Redwyne and Tully were Houses into whom the Hightowers married.

OOC: As said, everyone is invited to post here.
This one is after Castamere, so it shouldn't stop characters to come.

The Ullers arrive in a majestic ship named Sandy Shores, a peace-time version of a grand warship. His servants announce the lord and his entourage upon entering the feast hall, and Desmond Uller notices he was one of the first to arrive so he bows humbly, his wife and children following. 'Lord...', he paused shortly. 'Paramount of the Honeywine. A pleasure it is to be here.' Desmond turned around and signalled his servants to bring in his present. It was a cask of wine. 'Dornish Red, my lord. The finest there is.' After that the Dornish family take their seats.
    Make the Reach great again.

A squadron of seven ships, five with violet sails, and the remaining two have gold and aquamarine sails with a silver dolphin upon them, enters the harbor of Oldtown and the ships make their way to the harbor on Battle Isle. The leading ship, Lady Redwyne's flagship, the Monoceros, a four-decked warship with the hull painted black is the first to dock, followed by the Cygnus, her sister's ship. After all seven ships have docked, the Redwynes and their retinue of courtiers, merchants, retainers, servants, and their two vassals make their way into the Hightower.

Regenard walks alongside his sisters Elizabel and Rohanne as they make their way in, with Monford, Cymella, Serala, and Addam walking closely behind their mother with their father, Luceon. They would be followed by Lady Goldwyne, Lord Lowther, Ser Goldwyne(the lady's uncle and First Admiral of the Armada), and the rest of the retinue. All the Redwynes were dressed in fine silk clothing from Volantis for the men and Myrish lace dresses for the women. A group of at least fifty servants handles bringing in additional barrels of Arbor Gold and Arbor Red for the feast.

Though Lord Rolland had his own thoughts regarding the wine, he solely nodded while taking it as a good sign.
"A fine gift from your homeland, which I shall take with the best intentions", he replied polite, while ordering a servant to bring it to the locations, where other presents were stored, "It pleases me to see that House Uller could make it to the feast as well. May you feel welcome within Oldtown in the name of House Hightower."
He wasn't sure what to make out of Uller pausing the sentence when it came to the Lord Paramount title, assumed however, that it was for now the best.

They were greeted eagerly by the guardsmen and servants, while being lead straight towards the Hightower table.
With seeing Lady Rohanne as another member of the family, it was of course on Lord Rolland's and both his brother's side to approach Lady Redwyne politely, before greeting them in a fashionable way of how to treat family members by blood. As well the members of the Hightower side-branch, not deriving from the Redwyne-maternal line of House Hightower were present to greet the Redwynes respectable as well.

OOC: Since she didn't die I assume the old Lady Hightower nee Redwyne would be present as well. Would leave her to your controll, if necessary.

Entering the Hightower where the festivities were taking place, the party marvelled at the expense that had been paid to accomplish such a feast.
"My Lord Hightower. My nephew spoke of your generosity." Lord Yronwood said graciously, a courteous smile spreading across his smooth freckled face. At his right hand side stood his wife, the beautiful daughter of Lord Dayne, and at his left, Gerold Sand, bastard of Yronwood who had come here a few months before.
With a gentle nod towards Gerold, Lord Rolland greeted Lord Yronwood as well in a way of how to great a welcome Lord and buiseness partner.
"Lord Yronwood, I'm glad you could make it to our feast", he replied towards him comeradely, "I hope your journey wasn't too long, compared to Lord Uller's travel via the galley. Though my own merchant contacts have so far told me about first successes regarding our trade agreement, I hope that these reports aren't just onesided. It was hard to plan in forefield the shortest while most effective and safest trade routes to Yronwood from Oldtown, while hoping that Hightower banners will be enough to scare away any raiders or pirates passing their way."

They were lead inside the feast room, the servants leading them over towards the Hightower table, on where the Tully family was supposed to sit.
Lord Rolland would approach both Warrick and Axel with a warmly welcoming, alongside the rest of the Hightower family.

    OOC: after I would say

OOC: Guess we can say after union.

The Redwynes follow the servant leading them to their seats at the high table of the feast. Rohanne embraces both Lord Rolland and his brother when they greet her, and then embraces her aunt. "How fares the Arbor, niece?" "Excellent. The Armada, in my opinion, is as powerful as when the Redwynes were Kings of the Arbor, if not stronger. The winter has also not stopped the wine trade." "That is good to hear, dear." While the former Lady Hightower makes her way over to see Rohanne's children, Rohanne turns back to Rolland. "My brother informed me of your request. Perhaps after the feast we can meet in your solar to discuss events."

"Have no fear, My Lord, the shipments are coming in just fine, by both land and sea." Cletus replied, with a reassuring smile. "It is good to finally meet you in person, and see the Oldtown itself. Nothing in Dorne is anything like this."

Though Lord Rolland saw the compliment, implied within the sentence, he gave himself modest.
"Oh, for certain it is hard to deny the effort of countless Hightower descendants upon the city, but I'm sure Planky Town or Sunspear might rival us with their own beauty", the Lord replied modest, "In general I would say that even your keep or the proud House of Starfall can as well compete with the High Tower, when it comes to its ancestry and history, regarding these places. So I would assume, that it's always the places we don't know, which amaze us from time to time.
When I served as a diplomatic envoy in Pentos, where I also met by chance my future wife Lady Sera, I was amazed by the entire build of the city as, even though it was mainly bricks and sand, what I saw. Mayhaps it was their great R'hllor temple, mayhaps it was the various manses, I saw, mayhaps the palace of the Magister council and the prince... hard to say in the aftermath."

He grinned while shaking his head.
"Sometimes if there wouldn't be my duty of being the firstborn son and Lord of the House, I probably would spend the rest of my life there", Lord Rolland then added friendly, "But well, I guess all I could take was stealing Pentos in secrecy it's unknown beauty, which probably is an additional reason for my fascination."

"I must go to the free cities, one day. Volantis is, I have heard, one of the jewels of Essos." Cletus remarked wistfully, before turning to his retainers, then back to Lord Hightower.
"We shall take our seats, My Lord Hightower, as I fear my companions grow eager to dine. I shall speak with you later, I hope." He grinned, and the Yronwoods marched off to their places at the grandly laid out tables.

Lord Rolland appreciated upon this statement, while turning around to see after the other guests.

Lord Rolland nodded appreciating, being glad that the message at Castamere wasn't forgotten.
"Indeed, mylady", he replied formal, "It is nothing of major concern, which I wish to discuss, but in terms of our Houses solely, so it can wait till then. While speaking of it, my wife has blessed me and my House with another child. A daughter, by the name of Margaery."

The Lord of Oldtown nodded gentle towards the party, offering Lord Warrik his hand, while his sister Emilia was also glad to see her brothers and cousin around.
"The honor is at my side", he replied solely, "Without any guests this feast wouldn't happen, while I think it was necessary. During the last years House Hightower spread more harm than it was necessary - thus a change is always welcome."

"Most likely", Lord Rolland said while sighing, "Oldtown is a magnificent city with all kind of groups nontheless though. The Maesters of the Citadel might be the most known ones, but our city once was also seat of the High Septon. And other religions like the cult of the Red god is also present within its own small community - gladly a harmless one, which doesn't burn and sacrifice, as else they wouldn't live here.
The Honeywine is probably the most foreign region within the Reach, along with the Arbor."

"I had to order the Red Temple on the Arbor closed until a new Red Priest could arrive from Volantis last year, the other one attempted to sacrifice a man." Rohanne decided to leave out the other details of the event, such as the priest hiding ten slaves in the lower levels of the temple. "Hopefully this new one will be as harmless as the followers of R'hollor in Oldtown." Rohanne then takes another sip from her glass of wine. "I must agree, my lord. Although I would say the Arbor is a bit more foreign than the Honeywine as your lands share borders with the lands of Florent, Tyrell , and Tarly. While the Arbor is isolated from the rest of the Reach."
