Default My Thoughts on Potential Future Content

Warhammer Total War is still young as a game, and yet it is clear there is so much potential that it will likely receive multiple expansions and DLCs over its life cycle. Since it's drawing on an already existing and fleshed out block of lore, one can make some suppositions as to what future content there might be. Here are my thoughts.

There will be new races added to the roster, and depending on what direction the developers take they will likely be ones that are more central to the main storyline of Warhammer such as High Elves and Skaven (with known and well storied heroes/villians) as opposed to more secondary/off shoot races (with fewer legendary heroes) such as Wood Elves and Beastmen. In my mind, the next race(s) added to the game is/are:

Skaven (Legendary Lords are Queek Headtaker, Thanquol&Boneripper, and Ikit Claw)
High Elves (Legendary Lords are Tyrion, Teclis, and Alarielle)
Chaos Daemons (Legendary Lords are Skarbrand, Ku'gath Plaguefather, and Fateweaver)

Of these Skaven is probably the most likely to be next, given that High Elves would require the integration of Naval elements and Chaos Daemons might step on Chaos Warriors a bit (though a campaign where you start in the realm of Chaos and have to battle the other gods for dominance before attacking the mortal realms could be very interesting). However, since the Chaos Warriors Legendary Lords are either Ascendant (Archeon), Unaligned (Kholek) or Slaanesh (Sigvald) having the option to represent the other 3 gods in a Daemon campaign would make Chaos more complete.

I feel that two Legendary Lords per faction is not enough to fully flesh them out, so in future expansions I expect each of the base factions to get another one. There are many options, but the most likely choices will feature those with different playstyles to the current LLs. I'm sure a few will disagree, but here are my favourites:

Empire - Volkmar the Grimm (would probably feature bonuses to Flagellants and Warriors Priests, and interact extensively with Vampire Counts)
Dwarfs - Thorek Ironbrow (some interesting options involving Runic Empowerment and more powerful spells then Dwarfs usually have)
Orcs & Goblins - Skarsnik (because they have no Goblin LLs at the moment and because he's a direct foil to Queek)
Vampire Counts - Vlad Von Carstein

    What do you all think?

Dark Elves, Ogres, Bretonnia, Beastmen, Wood Elves, Tomb Kings and Lizardmen could very well be incorporated later, but they are not as central to the game as the three races above (and the five core ones) and so likely won't be added until later. Even then, they could end up being DCs like Chaos Warriors.

Well it's going to be a trilogy of games.

So the other two games, I reckon one of them will be primarily based on the High and Dark Elves, and the other will be focusing on the Tomb Kings.
Skaven I'm not sure they can pull off so might just see them as a NPC only race.

Of course, each game will have a stupid amount of DLC races added to them. Reckon the first one for this game will be Bretonnia and Wood Elves.

There's 16 faction's. If there's 3 games, then we get 6 this time, 5 next time, and 5 more the time after that... but i'd rather see it like this:

We get bretonnia, kislev, wood elves, and beastmen as DLC for this game within 1 year. That's 8 faction's.

The next game we get 5 in the base game, with 3 more added over a year.

Then the final game should be the End Times campaign with more units, heroes, etc. To play with. Basically build more content without new races.

I doubt it'd be that way, but that's what i'd like to see.

And yes obviously all major races should get 3 leg. Lords eventually. Skarsnik, Thorek, and Volkmar are all obvious choices for DLC lords.

My reservation about vlad is that technically he's dead in lore, so I doubt they will have him in the game. Idk who else they would add instead, but I doubt it'll be vlad for right now. Personally I love the guy, though

But DLC bretonnia, kislev, wood elves, and beastmen would all be welcome additions to the game. Beastmen could be a wandering horde faction, pestering everyone. Wood elves keep to themselves, but maybe if they could spread forest "corruption", by spreading forests everywhere... that'd be cool.

Kislev and bretonnia are somewhat fringe faction's. Kind of cult classics. The classic rock of the warhammer world. That said, giving us these (with limited rosters of course since they are hardly fleshed out even in lore or by games workshop) would be amazing! Just maybe 5 unique kislev units with reskins for the rest, would be great. And if bretonnia could get like 3 more units, they'd be pretty solid.

So if in a year we have 3 leg lords for all 5 faction's, 2 FLC faction's added in, and ideally another 2 DLC factions to boot, i'd be wonderfully happy.

I would rather see Belegar Ironhammer for a new dwarf lord. He would fit really well in a lord pack with Skarsnik anyway.

The most obvious next factions to be included are Brettonia followed by Wood Elves+Beastmen. I will be surprised if it isn't exactly that tbh. Skaven would be way too hard to implement with the under empire shenanigans so that's not happening this game if they want to do it right. I would love to see Kislev but what would they even do? They don't have much room to expand assuming the restrictions will still be in place and their roster is really small. It wouldn't be that surprising if they are ignored entirely.

Thorek is a new thing, he has the runesmith table thing to use. I mean I wonder if he'd be immobile (like tabletop)

Volkmar would be great cuz he'd ride the war altar! the empire really needs all of its battle wagons (hurricanum and war alter) to feel like the real empire, that requires bubble buff stacking to win.

Also woodies and beastmen would be great to add, and i'd even pay $15 each for them as DLC. I hope they go this route instead of saving every major faction for the next game.

Wait wait wait hold on, won't they be giving us expanded rosters as DLC? Like I really want empire militia, flagellants, knights of the white wolf... and for all other faction's, there are more fun units to add in later too.

Idk. I think we'll either get a crud ton of DLC within the year including 2+ more faction's, or we'll get the next TW;W very soon (maybe in 18 months)

Also for Kislev, just give us 10 good solid units with unique skins and voice acting, and a single good leg lord.

Another neat idea could be unique units you can recruit if you own a specific city/settlement. Here are some examples:

    Nuln: Ironside Handgunners
Middenhiem: Knights of the White Wolf
    Marienburg: Manann's Blades Swordsmen

and of course this is just Empire, I'm sure some creative ideas could be explored for the other factions.
