Greek skins
DVK,
You mentioned you were on the lookout for Greek skins - have you checked out the ATG spartans?

Re: Greek skins
Yes, and sadly, I had them in the mod when I was ready to upload it and start asking for interest...but I was told I couldn't use them. So I had to remove them.

Re: Greek skins
That's surprising as they're in quite a few other mods! Darth for example.
Given time I'm sure we can work around this.
The other thing - have you thought about using the overhand animation for some of the Greek hoplites?

Re: Greek skins
Oh no!!! You've asked the 100,000 word question!! Now this forum will be filled with weeks of controversy over how Phalanxes operated, and it's all your fault Tone...
Seriously...two things. I have done a lot of research on this subject and what i've found is this. It is known that the FRONT lines of a Phalax formation were underhand...this is because many soldiers were injured and even killed by the sharp end on the backend of their comrades pikes by the forward push of the enemy, and the close compacted nature of the phalax.
It is also a known fact that the greatest strength/power could be achieved by holding the weapon underhand using both hands, rather than overhand using one hand. This makes sense, since the spear was very long and would have to be balanced in one hand, at the risk of it being easily knocked aside because you have less leaverage on the thing.
It is NOT known, but sometimes speculated, that the rear rows may have jabbed and poked at the enemy 'overhand' with their spears trying to inflict head/eye/upperbody injury on the enemy.
I persoanlly think that there was a combination of the two in a phalax unit...overhand in the back, underhand in the front. But here's the problem, you can't have both in one unit of troops..it's either/or. A fully 'overhand' approach is too me so blatantly unhistorical and against the laws of physics that I cannot favor it...even though I know other mods are doing it.
It may look cool.....but too me it's just eye-candy nonsense. The greek phalanx was very close packed, body to body, shields protecting not only you but the guy next to you, and it's power was it's shear ability to overwhelm and 'run over' the enemy. From what I've read, some of these battles went on for hours without resolution or even many casualties...can you imagine doing this holding a long spear overhand for that long??
So....have at it guys. Let the debate begin!!
