Default Recently back to modding, wondering how to look into other mods

I would like to look into other people's mods to determine overlap and areas of improvement.

note: I assume that mods that don't edit the same line in the table are fine working together, unlike the older total wars where you could only have one mod change units, while others could change something else.

The biggest thing is htat I haven't been able to even find where the mods are being saved (just updated to win10, so still recovering from that) much less knowing whether we can peer into those with the creation kit tool.

    any advice?

    Hi,

I'm new to modding but I can answer some of your questions:

Easiest way to look at other people's mods is to use Pack File Manager (it's in these forums - http://www.twcenter.net/forums/showt...hammer-support). Subscribe to whatever mods you want to look at, they will appear in steamapps/common/totalwarwarhammer/data.

Unfortunately it doesn't seem like things have changed regarding compatibility; I've had reports that one of my mods doesn't work in conjunction with another that edits the same table, despite the fact we edit different values.

So if you make a mod, make sure you use prefixes at the start of stuff, eg change "data__core" to something like "my_mod_data". Also, only include the values you actually edited. If you're editing a unit's stats, delete all the entries except for the ones concerned with that unit. That'll increase compatibility.

Mods should be saved to C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\steamapps\common\Total War WARHAMMER\data. If you're using the Assembly Kit, they files you exported to binary are stored here: C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\steamapps\common\Total War WARHAMMER\assembly_kit\working_data
