The Hellholt was founded during the Andal invasion by the Ullers, who were Andal adventurers. The castle is named after an event in which Lord Uller invited his rivals to a feast and then had them burned to death after locking them within his hall.
The Ullers vacated the castle at the start of the First Dornish War. After the Dornish attacked Nightsong and Oldtown, the Targaryens answered by unleashing dragonfire upon Dornish castles, including Hellholt. Rhaenys Targaryen and her dragon, Meraxes, were lost in battle attacking the Hellholt. The body of Rhaenys was never recovered, however, and some allege she was tortured within the Hellholt's dungeon.

Xhondo smiled as always and had a couple ornate boxes brought forward. He cracks open the top of one of those boxes and inside lay a sleek and ornate wooden bow. Xhondo looks up at his host,
"I would say success my Lord."
Xhondo laughed for a moment, content with his success and then looked back at Lord Uller. He had the case closed and his guys standing by.
"Now to uphold your end of the bargain my Lord, I'll need my payment, and a litter of Sandsteeds to provide to your new trade partners."
Lord Desmond walked over to the box and took the bow out, stretching the string for a moment before placing it back. 'I am most pleased.', he said and turned around to his servants. The door behind them opened and coffers were brought forward to the merchant. 'Forty five thousand, as we agreed.', he said as the coffers were opened, offering a handshake too.
