Playing against Rome

Hi gents,

I have been trying playing with other nations than Rome (Macedonian, Carthage & Gaul). It's a lot easier than with Rome, specially with Gaul which has no hostile enemies at first. Macedonia needs a few years of building but soon becomes a steamroller. Carthage gives a lot of fun and a more challenging experience than the other two.

One thing I noticed is that Rome is a peaceful neighbour then. I know that SPQR was designed to make playing Rome harder. But I would like to know if there is a way to improve Rome as an AI opponent.

SPQR is designed for you to be rome. If you arent rome, you arent really playing SPQR.

Well, given the numerous gameplay and battle improvements you can find in SPQR, I humbly think that playing with other factions is an enjoyable experience actually...

yeah, its better than vanilla, but its too easy for non-romans.

if Lt starts tweaking other factions, then the romans will play differently (make them easier to play). and i think most of us SPQR players enjoy how the romans play currently.

Yes this is true that would take away from the whole experience of SPQR. I wonder if people are playing on VH/VH with other factions. Thats pretty difficult.

Playing on VH/VH for NON Roman players would be the BEST effect for a challenging game.

i agree with LT - i have two games going one on my notebook and one pn my pc...

i am greece v/h - v/h on pc and rome on notebook with the way LT said to ....

i find that while taking rome on this level was very challenging....i lost 8 generals and there armies there.....so my next invasion will be better, hopefully.....I lost my King and Faction heir of greece in that foreign land of rome....The Maxentius Family have a good army waiting there.
