    Bio:
House Rosby is an old house in the Crownlands, ruled by Stormlanders, Riverlanders and even Ironborn at some point in history until Aegon's Conquest. From then on have they been staunch and loyal supporters of the Targaryens. Even during the Blackfyre Rebellions, when the very house of their overlords split in half, they marched under the banner of the red dragon. This loyalty have paid for itself, and the Rosbys are among the strongest and most important lords in the Crownlands.

Branston Rosby is the first son of Lord Galbart Rosby, though his younger brother Gyles died at an early age from a fever. The weak constitution of the Rosbys was famed, though Branston showed no signs of this burden as a child. He was sent away at an early age to get away from the perceived bad weather of Rosby, serving Lord Bywater, first as a page and then as a squire. He studied law, history, economics, faith, strategy and martial arts to properly prepare him for becoming a lord, as well as making friends with other highborn children. Soon enough he would earn his spurs and become a knight, returning home as a man grown. At the age of 18 he married Lady Elizabel Hayford, producing two children over the years together.

During the War of the Ninepenny Kings, Lord Rosby stayed loyal to the Iron Throne. While losing on the Stepstones, Branston escaped capture and returned home to raise new forces in the king's name. Marching with King Aerys II during the war against the Blackfyre rebels, he fought during the Second Battle of Wendwater Bridge as well as the Siege of King's Landing. With the death of Maelys the Monstrous and the surrender of his supporters, Lord Rosby returned home to manage his lands and people.

The Velaryon party is welcomed at Rosby Castle by the steward before being led to the great hall. Lord Branston Rosby, dressed insomber autumn clothes, sat upon the dais. His wife and two children sat beside him, curiously watching their unexpected guests. Branston, ever open to new possibilities, smiled and greeted Jacaerys and his companions.

"Welcome to Rosby, honored guests! Excuse this poor show of hospitality, we had not expected members of such a distinguished house such as House Velaryon would come to our humble abode. How fares Lord Velaryon and Driftmark? I have always admired the mastery of the waves that you possess, House Velaryon is the pride of the Crownlands when it comes to the sea."

Jacaerys bows to Lord Rosby after he was permitted to enter. After an introduction was given by Branston, the heir of Driftmark would raise his head and speak.

My good father, Lord Qoherys Velaryon, is well, but without much to do. As Master of Ships and with the seas calm, he has much free time on his hand when he is not directly advising His Grace.

With his words spoken, Jacaerys would then speak of his intentions.

Lord Velaryon desires an arranged marriage between our houses, my lord. House Rosby has been known for its long standing loyalty to the Crown as direct vassals of His Grace and kings before. I have two younger siblings, Rhaena and Aegor, both of whom are of martial ages and are looking to find spouses of their own just as I have. Though Velaryon tradition has, from time to time, reverted to the incestuous practices of our forefathers, my father desires to arrange better suited marriages for his children.

"And as luck would have it, my children Larra and Gwayne are also unwed, and are getting in the right age for betrothal. I am humbled that you would turn to my house for such an important decision, and I will gladly oblige. As Crownlanders, it is only right that we strengthen the bonds between us for the future."

Branston turned to his steward and ordered him to prepare the cooks and servants for a big night.

"We must have a feast tonight, so I can properly treat you as the honored guests that you are, ser. We can go over the details later in my private chambers."

    ---

A little while later, Lord Branston and Jacaerys met by themselves in the lord's office, wine cups in hand.

"So, good ser, I would be most pleased to wed my son and heir Gwayne to your sister Rhaena. He is a bright young man, diligent in his studies and training, as well as the future lord of my lands."

Larraq of Braavos and his retinue, heavy infantry with red banners, marched to Rosby. On Larraq's right side rode Ser Thorgen Pyre, a recently annointed knight of R'hllor. The red priest requested an audience with Lord Rosby.

The foreign priest received no love from the guards of the castle, eyeing him and his party suspiciously. Not only was this holy man of a faith that condemned the Seven, he had brought a small army with him. Whether this was a threat or not did not matter, this was bad news for the guards, who tightened the grip on their weapons Only the intervention of the steward stopped the tense situation from escalating into something ugly. While the Red Priest was allowed an audience with Lord Rosby, his men would have to wait outside the gates.

Lord Rosby sat on a chair upon the dais in the great hall, curiously gazing down on the Red Priest. He had heard much of these foreign men dressed in red. Some sqid they were wizards and witches wielding dark magic in the name of their dark demon lord. Branston was skeptical to such rumors and myths, so for now he stated silent.

'My lord.', Larraq bowed. 'My name is Larraq, I come from Braavos. I'm sure you've heard much about my faith and I'm sure that your septon convinced you that we worship demons. However, I'm here to show you the truth so allow me to get right to the point. Our Lord, the Lord of Light is an all-loving god, one who casts away darkness and terror.', he paused for a moment. 'But let's not get too philosophical here. I want to tell you about the benefits a lord such as yourself would have from embracing the Lord of Light.' He walked slightly left, to a tall brazier. 'First, there is the gift of foresight. We, his servants, have the power to see the future when the Lord smiles upon us. Such a tool would most certainly be useful.' He walked back to where he stood at the beginning and drew his sword only an inch from the scabbard, so the blade flashes upon the sunlight. 'Second, there's the morale boost to your armies. When the Lord fills the ranks of your men with his fire, I can guarantee you, they will fight three times the harder and prevail in combat three times more.' He dropped the handle of the sword, letting it slide back fully into the scabbard. 'Thirdly..-', he snapped his fingers and a small flame came out of his right palm, but he himself extinguished it after half a dozen seconds. 'Nothing strikes fear into the hearts of your enemies like fire, and I assure you these are only a few of the benefits.'

Lord Rosby's head hurt from the Red Priest's sermon and promises of power. Just another man who wants support from a highborn house, he thought. A shame, he had been interested at first, foolishly thiniking this man was different somehow. If it continued like this, thrown out of the keep was the only option.

"Impressive tricks, though I've seen better mummers in King's Landing. I've met many men in my day, promising to hold great power and being blessed by the gods, but they've all either been mad or scammers. You play with fire and talk of foresight, like a mummer, and just like a mummer it's all show from where I sit. If you want to give myself to your 'Lord of Light', you're going to have to do better than big words and neat little tricks. I don't have all day."

'Only a fool could consider viewing the future as a mere trick, my lord.', Larraq walked back to the brazier on the left and strode with his arm over it several times. 'Is there anything of the future that concerns you, that you would like to see, my lord?'

Scratching his beard in thought, Branston smiled and leaned forward towards Larraq.

"Of course. What does the future hold for House Darklyn of Duskendale?"

The roll will be a 1-20 with relative successes marked out per quarter.

Rolled a 17. The fire springs to life with an unlikely splendor and gleam, almost as if fuel had been thrown onto it. In it one might be able to make out in the flames the wall of a Keep that looks remarkably like Rosby. At once it appears even grander than it is now, with added towers and vaults, the next moment it lay in ruins. The fire then extinguished itself.

'One who wishes to find out about others often learns about himself, my lord.', Larraq spoke. 'Look into the fires my lord, this looks like Rosby. Grander than it is now, with larger towers and vaults.' But then, as the keep turned into ruin, Larraq's face got a grim look on it. 'And now it lay in ruin, my lord. Repent your sins, my lord, for it is your only way of avoiding this, I feel.'

Branston walked slowly up towards the flames, curiously looking into the flames as Larraq spoke. The fires twisted and danced before him, slowly drawing him in. There he saw it, his beloved home, greater and richer than he had ever imagined it could be. Was it the future, the legacy that would be left for sons and grandsons and countless generations down the line? If that were to be what he left behind once the Stranger came for him, he would gladly pass on to the next world.

What came next had him taken aback. Rosby, a black stain compared to its former glory, burned and smashed to bits. How could it have happened? The horror, the utter fear of such a thing happening to his house. What did it mean, was this to be his mark on the world? The destruction of his family and house, that had outlived countless kingdoms and ages? He wanted to know more, he needed to know more. He begged the flames to show him more, but in a flash the images were gone.

Branston tried desperately to reach for the flames that were no longer there, panic and fear in his eyes. His hands were shaking, and then he turned to the red priest, grabbing him by the robe.

"What happens next? This can't be the future, which one is true? Am I to be one to make House Rosby rise, or fall? What does your Lord of Light mean? Please, tell me more!"

'The flames have danced their waltz, my lord. For you is only to repent your heresy of the Seven, not desperation. The time to choose the right faith is now, my lord, for there is no time. Will you lead your house to greatness with the Lord of Light and enter into the annals of time, or will you let it perish with false gods?'

Tears ran down Lord Rosby's face and he fell on his knees before the Red Priest. The flames had spoken to him, and it had been the holy man before that had brought them forth. The truth had revealed itself to Branston, along with choice, the most important in his lifetime. Branston knew what he had to do. For the future of his house, for his family, for his legacy. The Seven had never answered his prayers, and in recent years he had begun to doubt despite the Septon's sermons. Now, however, it was as if a light had appeared, one burning brighter than the sun itself.

"The light of the Lord, it fills me and warms my soul. How long have I lingered in the darkness? Now I see, finally I see the truth. Help me, guide me to fully serve the Lord of Light."

Larraq placed his right palm on lord Rosby's left shoulder. He closed his eyes and started praying in whispers and in High Valyrian, probably unrecognizable to Branston. Then, after a minute of prayer has passed Larraq opened his eyes and spoke. 'Lord Branston of House Rosby, the Lord of Light hears your prayers but he also requires repentance. Stand, Lord Branston, let us speak of serious matters.', Larraq said while removing his hand from the man's shoulder. 'Under the patronage of her grace, the dowager queen Shaera of House Targaryen, I am tasked to construct a temple for the Lord in King's Landing. I am sure you have no problem donating a token amount, say seven thousand golden dragons to this cause? The Lord will find this a generous and acceptable repentance for the years you spent in heresy.'

    Branston rose and eagerly nodded.

"Merely seven thousand? I would gladly invest triple the amount if that is required, so that the Lord of Light would spread his truth to the High Lordship of Rosby. All must come to welcome the Lord of Light sooner or later and reject the false gods."
