    Default Question regarding campaign difficulty.

So I'm playing Byzantine's, conquered from Sicily to Armenia, when all of a sudden almost every neighbor declares war on me from the Papal States to the Fatimid's, and then I get a jihad on Constantinople. Now I have several full stacks of units and I'm struggling my ass off but for some reason no state wants to make peace, and I can't seem to figure out why half the map is at war with me for no reason. Even Hungary declared war on me showing up with full stacks. It's simple for the most part, a ship from another faction will randomly come and barricade my port. If I try to retaliate, it's next to impossible to forge a peace. Then every Italian state declares war on me and I lose all my holdings in Sicily and such. Jihad arrives, and it's stacks upon stacks upon stacks of units. Now I like a good challenge, but is this a bit much. Was it because it was on hard and using the Savage AI? Does the AI cheat on hard difficulty? Is the Savage AI just ridiculously aggressive on hard mode? Or is it just me.

Welcome To the Forums daburnell112! Savage AI is the medium AI, meaning it isn't the most backstabbing but it also isn't the most peaceful either. I'd be curious to know you're reputation, I bet it's really low. Have you been Exterminating and Executing? Also, not only to more factions target you when you have a low reputation, but once you become a relatively large faction they are more likely to target you. As far as the port blockading, the AI seems to put more weight on naval conflict. Meaning if there is naval conflict between you and a faction it is much more difficult to get a ceasefire.

If you post a screenshot of your map and treasury I can tell you how to get out of this pickle .

    Happy gaming.

Never trust a pickle... theyre notorious backstabbers!!!

The best way to deal with a pickle is to slice it in half long-ways and eat it with a burger... but don't turn your back on it!!!
