    BIOGRAPHY:
Grandson of Maekar I: thus cousin of both Jaehaerys II and Lord Steffon Baratheon. Large and ruddy, black of hair and blue-eyed, Boremund looked like the boisterous late Lord Tarth. Still, he was his mother’s son and very much alike her older brother, Aegon V. Boremund, lord since he was on the womb, was fostered in the royal court, where his mother chose to live and he grew with Aegon's and Daella's children as his playmates and friends. Boremund was a close friend of Prince Duncan, being only a couple years older. He was his most trusted and close friend and served his royal uncle as cupbearer. Lord Tarth was the one who offered safe haven to his cousin once he chose Jenny of Oldstones over Lord Baratheon's daughter, whom he had spurned publicly. Predictably, Tarth chose the love for his kin over that to his liege and refused to follow Lord Lyonel Baratheon into his rebellion. He stubbornly refused to comply with the Laughing Storm's demands and remained a staunch ally of the throne.

Wilful and amiable, he is a rather learned lord who prefers to rule over his smallfolk with compassion and care. Lord Boremund learned to play a harp before he rode a horse, to play the lute before he wielded his first sword. Boremund loves singing and once rode through the kingdoms in the guise of an errand bard for a whole year; Evenfall Hall is always filled with music and laughs. A loving husband, he has fathered no natural children and is devoted to Lady Alys in heart and body. Unfortunately, he is afflicted by bouts of gout and dropsy. His health is declining since the Tragedy of Summerhall, that killed his life-long friend, the Prince Duncan, his uncle the King and even his father-in-law, the Lord Commander of the Kingsguard.

    Cousin Tarth,

It is important that the bond of shared blood and brotherhood we share between our noble houses is never broken. Thus, I do accept the marriage proposal between myself and your fair daughter Alinor. It shall occur seven days hence, at the Sept at Storm's End. May the Seven bless our union, and I do pray that the Houses Tarth and Baratheon endure for many generations to come as a result of this blessed marriage.

    Your Lord and friend,
Steffon Baratheon, Lord of Storm's End and Shipbreaker Bay, Lord Paramount of the Stormlands.

A rapping came at the door in the middle of the night, Lord Tarth! Lord Tarth! The Kingswood is on fire! Captain Tully sent us to awake you! Men were sent to awake the Hand of the King as well and Ser Tully is awaking the King now! Captain Tully has already ordered the Gates be locked down and traffic in and out of the city suspended. He has roused almost half of the Watch, the other half he holds no sway over. Lord Tarth!

Tarth receives the newcomer sleepy and half-naked only clad in a shirt.

"Quickly, prepare the Goldcloaks and organize the woodkeepers. If the forest is on fire we must stop it, a line of trees must be cut down in order to stop the fire. Send them by horse if necessary to run ahead of the fire"

It could be a disaster, considering how many made a living from the forest and how important it was for the local trade and prosperity. Lord Tarth had to think fast.

"Also, send ravens to the lords and knights who live at the Kingswood, they must prepare themselves to fight the fire with whatever they are able to"

He demands a servant to bring his riding clothes and dress him.

"Gods. Any clue about what or who started it? There isn't a single stormy cloud on the sky"

Ilsa Corbray, dressed casually for once, arrived at Lord Tarth's chambers.

    "Lady Ilsa"

Boremund sat behind his desk, his fingers were stained with ink. A sword rested on its scabbard. Several men served and attended lord Tarth.

"You might know I paid you a visit the other day at the barracks. Talked a little with one of your underlings, a certain Criston Tully"

He looks at her with his bright blue eyes framed by his thick and fierce black hair.

"Ser Tully told me about your visit, yes. Something about increasing the funding for the city guard, I believe. Excuse me for my tardiness, I had not yet found time in my schedule to meet with you in person." She bowed. Bared steel, she noted. Is he trying to intimidate me?

He puts aside quill and ink.

    "Apologies accepted, my Lady"

    He smiles.

"The Goldcloaks need more funds, they must become a formidable standing force his Grace can relly to defend the capital on their own. Right now most of them are mere peacekeepers, watchmen. We need a good-sized fighting force, well-armored, trained and disciplined"

Boremund's eyes scan the odd Corbray.

"Can you inform me of their current strenght and weaknesses?"

"We have several veterans among our ranks," she started, "but most of the city guard is composed of peasants with no formal training in the art of war, at least not before they joined the Goldcloaks. We give them a rudimentary training with spear and shield, and teach them to take care of their equipment. Furthermore, they spar for one morning every other week." She shrugged. "They may not be great warriors, but that has never been their task. They know how to keep order in the better parts of the city, and they seem to be tolerated in the lowtowns. We very rarely have any dead among our ranks, and crime is no higher than you'd expect from a city as large as this one. If I dare say so, we could probably get away with less physical strength in the force without lowering their effectiveness." She started pacing around the room. "However, if your office has spare funds, I am sure we could create a regiment of special troops, more fit for fighting than policing unlike most of the current guard. Alternatively, we could invest in the hidden aspects of the guard. More silent eyes in the worse parts of town may see the crime rate drop in those districts."

Boremund nods as she speaks. Clearly it was as he imagined.

"You will have coin for both, Lady Corbray"

    Said Tarth.

"You will hire under my authority as many troops as you see fit, and as heavy as you might find them. Send word to the Crownlander lords, they shall send their spare sons to the city is they seem fit, to serve as knights and officers. We will make a force of heavy men-at-arms and dismounted knights to protect this city"

Boremund leans back on his chair.

"You will also have coin to... fund these other endeavours. Much needed as well"

The Lady Commander nodded. "I shall begin the recruiting process at the first chance I get," she said. "I appreciate the gesture, Master," she then continued, "but I will need solid numbers on the financial aid the Goldcloaks will receive. Also, rooting the crime out of Flea Bottom will take many months, years even. It has become a way of life there. Do not expect immediate results."

"The crown will provide, my Lady"

    Said Tarth.

"I won't expect immediate results for those measures of yours, but I do expect something from the trainning and upgrade of the Goldcloaks as soon as posible, Lady Corbray"

His smile was kind and amiable.

She nodded. "I shall send preliminary reports of the call for recruits to your office as soon as I get them. There is one more thing, however..." She took on a more powerful stance than she had before, looking the Master of Laws straight in his eyes. "The recruitment of more battle-ready men will put a dent in our coffers that we can somewhat offset easily. My suggestion is we start adding women to the regular guard. Of course I am well aware that I am one of the few warrior women of the entire realm, but as we've already discussed the main task of the standard city guard regiments is not to fight but to keep the peace. Mixing women into the Guard will likely lower the wages we have to pay, without leading to diminished effectiveness of the guard. When a troublesome peasant sees an armed Goldcloak coming at him, he will submit, whether that guardsman is male or female."

"I need your discretion lord Tarth." She begins studying the big man. "I do not think my children are safe in the city any longer." She frowns worriedly, "Aerys has been acting even more erratically of late, and Tyrell may march on the capital any day, and recently we had a mob storming the royal palace because of Aerys orders. I do not want my family trapped here like it was when Maegor seiged the city. I need your aid to aquire transport for myself and my children away from this place Lord Tarth."

"My Queen, the situation is indeed dire and troublesome"

His fingers pitter-patter the desk surface.

"I planned to ship my mother away as soon as posible, but I cannot sail you away from here without incurring into the King's wrath, your Grace. The Stormlands might be the next target of his rage if he knows I helped you"

He looked at the queen with anxiety.

"However, I cannot deny you such a petition. I will try to smuggle you out of this city, to Tarth"

Some of the worry leaves the young woman's face. "Thank you cousin your aid will be most appreciated." She begins, "bring me a pen a parchment, a letter with my writ on it should be enough to get your mother out of the city. It should pass the gold cloaks at least."

She's brought both a quill and parchment. Tarth in turn writes down some orders.

"Lord Penrose will try to help your Grace sail out of the capital. However, if the King regains his wits this will cost me dearly. Unless your Grace does the following: You will have to explicitly say him that you wanted to leave. You will be safe at Dragonstone, my Queen, there you have loyal servants to safekeep you. Send word to the capital once you are safe and well in the island"
