Big Map provinces

I've had a look at the big map, and found some settlements that could be added:
Argos (opposite Athens, below Sparta, on the peninsula)
Elis (west of Corinth)
Delphi
Smyrna
Ipsus
Megalopolis (is this too many in southern greece?)
Herakleia (northern asia minor)
Antigonea (in mts of greece)
Knossos (if you want 2 on crete)

also,the provinces I think could be merged are:
London & East Anglia
possibly unify Ireland and the 3 scottish provinces - give space for more provinces in the med
3 settlements in eastern holland

finally, has anyone else had loads of naval invasions?
i forgot to switch back to the RTW.exe from RTW:BI.exe and i'm having loads of them!

I have never run this mod on RTW:BI.exe...so couldn't tell you. Sounds fun though!

I'd suggest checking out the RTR map. The have many cities (too many for the maps size) that would be pefect to implement. (For example a 4th city in Sicily, 2nd one it Crete etc). By checking the RTR map you should also be getting accurate locations and names.

And Thebes wasnt a major city at this time and isnt worthy of inclusion. It had been all but razed by Alexander the Great as punishment for their rebellion against Macedonian rule.

i've got RTR on my other comp, so I'll go and have a look on that
finally, by looking at the region id's, i found that there are only 189 provinces, so ther is room for 9 extra provinces without any merges or deletions-easier for me!
dvk: it happens all the time on VH/H, greeks are sailing from spain to italy, and the epirots are attacking the syracusans and me, even though they lost Tarentum. The Syracusans are rampaging Illyria and Italy, and the Carthaginians are launching numerous attacks on me, it's chaos in Italy!

EDIT: looked at map for RTR v7, found Delphi to replace Thebes, and Smyrna

YES! IT IS TOTAL WAR!!! Is that a problem? Seriously, I really haven't ever had a chance to play long enough to see this behavior. If you are playing with the RTWBI.exe that will change behavior,,,especially sea invasions.

As for the map, if possible, I would really not like MORE regions, but if that's the only way, oh well. Would most like to see Malta (big time Cartaginian naval base), more regions in Sicily, better distribution in Bosporan area (Tanais is WAY off, and Bosporan port on wrong side (it was on the east). I agree with tyr, the RTR map has a good guideline(region-wise)...but I'm giving up on it because it is a poor map compared to these two. Too small for all the regions on it.

right, I'll merge some of the british provinces and one or two others, so ther isn't a great rise in provinces, maybe just a total of 2/3 more.
I'll update the first post with possible provinces to choose from

I'm going to start adding provinces tomorrow or friday, the one's I'll add are:
Malta, the 2 sicilian provinces and change the port and Tanais
if you find any other major inaccuracies, tell me and I'll try and fix them

I would basically use the Mundus map as a guide for the that, I guess. I think it's more historically accurate in most areas. The RTR map is also more historical and has quite a few little regions in the greek areas, Aetolia, Sicily, etc.

malta and the sicilian provinces have been added, and if there's no objections to the list of provinces to be added or merged (at top of page), I'll start on them tomorrow

yes, i had to change the heights.tga and ground_types.tga files to expand malta, so the heights.hgt doesn't work anymore, and I don't have a converter.
There is an annoying bug in RTW that means i cant delete/move certain things, and the irish provinces are included in this
I can merge scotland to 1 province, haven't tried any others yet

What does 'heights.hgt' do, anyway. Any loss there? RTW has a lot of annoying bugs, doesn't it? Hey, I'll be happy with anything you can do. Oh, forgot to ask, could you do anything up by 'Bosporan'...like have a little region for Tanais, and port, and fix the port on the wrong side issue? Little stuff...just wondering...

I don't know what it does, but the game plays without it. I know I can't use map editors without it, but I do the map changes by hand so it doesn't concern me that much
the no. of regions might go up to 198 if it doesn't let me do any more merging, but it might be more interesting in the later game with more regions

I got the map working....there was a typo in the lookup file, and I didn't realize the settlements weren't in descr_strat.txt yet. Nice job! You've totally changed the face of Siciliy and the Greek areas. Now Sicily won't be so 'starved', and I can make the distribution of regions much more historical in the Greek_cities, Macedon area. Working on it now. Thank you, and I will be sure to give you credit for it as well.
