Is it perhaps possible to bring the large and epic walls back into the game? I kinda miss them and they bring immersive gameplay. Can't you just use the current stone walls model, remodel and scale them, can you? Or atleast keep the same model of the stone wall and try a retexture only for large and epic walls, perhaps using a smoothstone layer?

I also noticed that a wooden palisade and wooden wall aren't different. Why did you replace the wooden wall with a version where troops cannot stand on the walls? I don't really like that. Can't you use this model: http://www.twcenter.net/forums/showt...w-Wooden-Wall?

The other city models look superb .

Well, originally, I had no intention of replacing\removing any walls...because I hate working with them or messing with them. Unfortunately, I ran into problems while building these settlements that forced my hand, so to speak. The first problem was 'aesthetic'. RTW used a lot of very tall and huge buildings in its settlements once you got to the city levels, and these buildings could be seen above the walls. This provided a sense a of 'proportion' to the walls...even though the buildings were often idiotically large and out of proportion to the surroundings and the people in the city. But once I started adding and replacing these buildings with buildings that were shorter and smaller, cities started looking like they were in a 'hole in the ground'.....huge tall walls surrounding them, with little buildings inside. It looked bad, and out of proportion.

The second problem was more serious.....RTW has limit as to how many buildings you can have in the game. Why is a mystery...but I hit that limit and started getting CTD's. So in order to add the buildings I wanted to add, I had to start removing scores of RTW buildings I was not going to use anyway. I probably removed 40-50 of them and it was OK for a while until I hit the limit again. Then I had to start looking for other buildings to remove that were not going to used.
Epic stone walls were only used in Syracuse..and possibly Rome...and they were bugged as well and WAY too tall. I found that this wall and all its 'pieces' were considered 'buildings'...so I removed them. That gave me another 20 or so buildings to work with until I hit the limit again. This time, the large stone walls went because I had no intention of using them anyway...again, they are too tall.

As for the wooden walls, I didn't change them at all. I did at one time try to add the walls you point out, but I had problems with the AI not being able to assault them properly because they didn't bring the right equipment. So I gave up.

Aight. I see the problem. I must say I prefer a variety of buildings instead of walls that are out of proportion.
Good to see you trying to add the wooden walls anyway.

Isn't it possible to keep the large and huge buildings in, without adding extra models/textures? Perhaps only a stronger tower maybe or only more arrows/ballista ammo to be fired? Or even only to increase the turns needed to starve the city?

Funny you should mention that. After I got RSIII all put together, I started thinking that I could change the description of Large and Epic walls to 'Upgraded Stone Walls' and 'Fortress Walls'....replace the model listings in descr_walls.txt with the same models for the stone walls, but upgrading the defenses each time so that the walls are stronger and better defended as you go up the line. Hindsight is always so much better. LOL
Anyway, I'm going to test that in another install I have and see how\if I can work that out.

Really cool to see you're quite interested in this idea too. It is always better to be able to upgrade/develop cities further. I always considered walls to be the best building to build.
I have such feelings too. I have my own mod Nova Aetas for Warband and after implementing various features, you gain full knowledge of what option is the best.

    Good luck with testing.
