EVENFALL HALL
The seat of House Tarth is located on the western shores of Tarth, a beautiful and strong fortress perched on a crag over the sea. The island is said to be very beautiful and it is called the Sapphire Isle for the striking blue seas in which it sits. The Island was itself a petty kingdom until the Durrandon arrived and by marriage and sword subdued the Tarths to their rule. Andals came in great numbers and conquered the island, founding new settlements like Morne or Stone Mill. House Tarth married into the invader's houses and since they have Andal blood. The island is described as very beautiful and charming:
"With its mountains and waterfalls, its high meadows and shadowed vales"
- Strong fleet: Tarth, though a poor island, provides much of the fleet of the Stormlands, and is vital to the regions naval power. As a result, all characters get +2 to sea captain during naval battles in the Stormlands and grants a special naval militia instead of the standard levy ships for Tarth.
Evenfall Hall itself is fair castle perched on a cliff overlooking the straits. The fortress comprises two fortified enclosures, only accesible through a drawbridge; the curtain wall is high and imposing. While well-fortified and powerfully built the castle is still a truly beautiful seat, of very fine craftsmanship. The Great Hall is covered by a hammerbeam roof, partially gilded and painted, the walls lined with fine tapestries and the floor made of beautiful marble with blue and pink veining. The throne of Tarth rests under a dais, heavily embroidered with suns in splendor, coiling dragons and crescents. The castle has been embellished and furbished by many generations of Tarths and is one of the finest residences in the Stormlands.
HOUSE BACKGROUND
-Lord Hand Brynden Rivers, on ocassion of the Second Blackfyre Rebellion. Before the events of the Third, the cunning schemer brought Lord Tarth to the fold by marriage-
Late Boros Tarth was large, voracious and wrathful, a skilled but cruel jouster known to maim, cripple or kill his opponents with joy. He was the son of Lord Ormund Tarth and Lady Alysanne Penrose, herself a granddaughter of Elaena Targaryen and Ronnel Penrose. The Thousands Eyes, and One of Lord Bloodraven brought him whispers of Lord Boros Tarth being particularly talkative about the fabled righteousness of the old Black Dragon. With the pretenders brooding across the Narrow Sea those were particularly troubling rumours that needed to be taken care of. Soon thereafter, a betrothal was arranged between Evenfall Hall and Dragonstone, brokered by the Lord Hand himself. Rhae Targaryen, youngest daughter of prince Maekar and Dyanna Dayne had to marry the old childless lord to appease him and every Stormlord who muttered words of treason. Late Lord Tarth, as boisterous as he was, lived only for a couple years before collapsing during a feast. He left a pregnant widow and whatever was growing on her womb as the prospective lord or lady of Tarth. A strong boy was born, black of hair and ruddy of body. A boy that was named Boremund Tarth.
-Ser Duncan the Tall and his squire, the late Aegon V, so called Egg-
The young lord was extremely stubborn, passionate and surprisingly well-humoured, quick to laugh but prone to wrath and melancholy. He seemingly was his mother’s son in everything but appearance. When Tarth was a boy still, hardly a wispy beard on his chin, he fell in love with a girl, wilful and beautiful as the morning. Her father was none other than Ser Duncan the Tall, closest friend of Aegon V. Ser Duncan, had risen to fame and had been granted Pennytree as a fief some years before. His wife, much loved, sadly died in childbirth, delivering the fair Alys. Tall as as a willow tree but pretty as the dawn she danced with the lordling thrice during the tourney. Boremund, struck with her beauty and notwithstanding his greater station in life married her soon thereafter with her father’s consent. Lady Alys answered Lord Boremund’s love and in return gave him an heir, Selwyn Tarth, a boy as large as a his grandfather was. On occasion of his daughter’s wedding, Ser Duncan forsake his earthly honours and joined the Kingsguard, leaving his shield and sword on Evenfall Hall’s armoury, where they can still be glanced among the starry devices of long-dead Tarths. Lord Boremund, grandson to Maekar the First, and his line have ruled over Evenfall Hall ever since.

BIOGRAPHY:
Grandson of Maekar I: thus cousin of both Jaehaerys II and Lord Steffon Baratheon. Large and ruddy, black of hair and blue-eyed, Boremund looked like the boisterous late Lord Tarth. Still, he was his mother’s son and very much alike her older brother, Aegon V. Boremund, lord since he was on the womb, was fostered in the royal court, where his mother chose to live and he grew with Aegon's and Daella's children as his playmates and friends. Boremund was a close friend of Prince Duncan, being only a couple years older. He was his most trusted and close friend and served his royal uncle as cupbearer. Lord Tarth was the one who offered safe haven to his cousin once he chose Jenny of Oldstones over Lord Baratheon's daughter, whom he had spurned publicly. Predictably, Tarth chose the love for his kin over that to his liege and refused to follow Lord Lyonel Baratheon into his rebellion. He stubbornly refused to comply with the Laughing Storm's demands and remained a staunch ally of the throne.
-Ser Duncan duels the Laughing Storm, Lord Lyonel Baratheon-
Wilful and amiable, he is a rather learned lord who prefers to rule over his smallfolk with compassion and care. Lord Boremund learned to play a harp before he rode a horse, to play the lute before he wielded his first sword. Boremund loves singing and once rode through the kingdoms in the guise of an errand bard for a whole year; Evenfall Hall is always filled with music and laughs. A loving husband, he has fathered no natural children and is devoted to Lady Alys in heart and body. Unfortunately, he is afflicted by bouts of gout and dropsy. His health is declining since the Tragedy of Summerhall, that killed his life-long friend, the Prince Duncan, his uncle the King and even his father-in-law, the Lord Commander of the Kingsguard. Recently, the proud Lord Tarth has been accused of high treason and placed in trial; finally he has been exonerated of all the charges. However, Boremund has lost all faith to the crown and its holder, King Aerys II. In 268 AC he crowned his goodson, Steffon Baratheon, as King with the old crown of Lyonel the Laughing Storm, rightly becoming a Kingmaker. Unfortunately, the Stormlander army was routed before King's Landing and Tarth was taken captive. Maimed, he was left to die by Maegor, self-styled Daemon Blackfyre.

BIOGRAPHY:
Selwyn Tarth is the firstborn son of Lord Boremund Tarth and Lady Alys of Pennytree. Lean and thin, Selwyn is rather tall but quite shorter than both his father and maternal grandfather. Tarth has broad features, a pug nose, a warm smile, dark auburn hair and bright blue eyes. Selwyn has always been a cheerful individual, fond of music like his father and grandmother; he naturally enjoys the company of bards and musicians and several are always living at his expense. A good dancer and singer he is considered a most handsome courtier. Mild-mannered, shy and calm he is quite the mirrored image of his hot-blooded and boastful father. He served for a year as the King's own squire and got his spurs soon afterwards when he came of age. Tarth loves hawking and hunting in Tarth's bountiful meadows and large woods. He has many birds of prey, but his favorite is a hawk called Foss, a wedding gift from Lord Arryn himself.
Since 263 AC he has been married to the fair but much older Lady Rowena Arryn, whom he married for political reasons but ended loving. Both make a lovely match and Selwyn is known to be absolutely loyal and faithful to his wife. Recently, he has been named as Lord of Hadlow Keep by Lord Baratheon himself, serving as its steward. He is very protective and caring with his siblings, with whom he shares a deep bound of devotion and love. By marriage he is uncle to Lord Jon Arryn and goodbrother to Lord Steffon Baratheon. Totally unambitious he only cares for the wellfare of his kin. He was executed in 269 AC by Daemon Blackfyre. His daughters were overlooked in succession and his younger brother, Duncan, inherited Tarth.

+1 Rearguard (retainer): A man must always watch his back.
POSSESSIONS:
- Full Plate (+20 hp, +1 Battles, +6 Survival, +5 post-battle condition rolls) - Covering oneself from head to toe in the best plate available brings significant advantages and drawbacks. You become near-impossible to kill but also don't move much yourself. Favoured by knights taking to the battlefield, knowing their main role in such an event will be to present the heaviest possible mass atop a horse to plough through enemy troops in a formation of massed heavy horse, this is a set of armour for surviving a major battle rather than a set for everyday wear or single combat.
- A single handed weapon and shield (+2 Duels, +4 Survival, +6 hp) offers the most survivability, allowing the user to shelter behind the shield and use it to further protect themselves, but at the cost of sacrificing the reach and power afforded by the larger, heavier weapons.
BIOGRAPHY:
Duncan is Lord Boremund Tarth's and Lady Alys of Pennytree’s second son; also the youngest child until the birth of Richard Tarth many years later. He was named after his paternal granfather, Ser Duncan the Tall, Lord Commander of the Kingsguard under Aegon the Unlikely. Duncan never was like his father or elder brother, both of whom were strong, hard with muscle and gregarious. He inherited the thin and short frame of Lady Alys, and his health was somewhat frail during his early childhood. Never a tall or strong kid he became a lanky teenager, subject of mockeries and abuse from other children in Baratheon’s household, all of them bulky young men with cracking voices. All knees and ankles, he trained with Ser Herbert as much as he could, but never really develop a gift for duelling or swordsmanship. Still, he loved the old stag dearly and cried for his death bitterly, cursing fate. Soon thereafter, Lord Boremund’s death arrived to Storm’s End, to Lady Alinor’s grief and sorrow. Stunned and shocked by his father’s execution, Duncan only shut himself more from the outer world and found shelter on his books. Already quite a bookworm, he looked for solace in hundreds of written pages, in the words of maesters of old, bards, kings, dwarves and septons. Without Herbert to squire for, a brother to idolize or a father to learn from Duncan found himself at odds with life herself, entering a depressive state for weeks, lost and confused.
He was freed from this state of sadness and despair by the sudden notification of Lord Selwyn’s death, which sunk Alinor deeper into grieving and almost drove their mother mad. However, that only awakened Duncan, who had to claim the mantle of his forebears and rule as the new Lord Tarth, the third in two years-span. Prudent, cautious and astute he would do whatever was necessary for his house’s survival. Not an anointed knight and barely a man, he was certainly ill-prepared for the new role befallen on his person by the making fate and of Daemon’s sword. Certainly, he holds a grudge against the man who commited both his father's and brother's murder, but he knows quite well his place in the world. Knees would have to bend in the wake of Baratheon's defeat and demise, including Duncan's. He married Rhea Royce, ruling Lady of Runestone, in 270 AC. The thin boy slowly became a more confident and intelligent skinny manling, getting used to the day-to-day of ruling Tarth. He had a bout of depression in 272 AC, after the birth of his twins, Alysanne and Olenna, but returned to the living thanks to the well-doing of his wife. In 274 AC the long-awaited heir was finally born, Robar Tarth.

BIOGRAPHY:
Elaena Targaryen had only loved a men in his life, Lord Alyn Velaryon, with whom he fathered two children, Jeyne and Jon Waters. However, he was lost at the see and was married twice as dictated by the King, firstly, Lord Plumm, secondly Lord Ronnel Penrose. She was much older by the time of her second marriage, closer to fourty than thirty; however she still managed to deliver four children in short time. Her husband acted as Master of Coin, a move to please the unruly Stormlanders, grieved by Daeron’s love for the Dornishmen. Those four children in turn married and had children on their own. Lady Elaena married once more, this time for love, to Michael Manwoody, whose love for music had in turn made her fall for him. As she aged Elaena’s beauty flourished and in her was again evident the majesty and the grace of the Kings of old; she was even said to be more beautiful at age seventy than age seventeen. Shrewd, quick, intelligent and astute she became a power in the shadows, one of Daeron’s most trusted attendants.
Ronnel Penrose had always been known to be a figurehead, not even having a great facility with numbers. But his son was of a different stock: Robin was as shrewd and politically savvy as his mother had been. He preserved the large wealth massed by Lord Ronnel and Lady Elaena and even increased it during his lifetime. So valuable was his advice that Lord Baratheon held him in high regard and married his daughter Perra to Penrose. That signalled the twilight of the Penrose’s fortune, for the son that inherited them both was a complete wastrel. Only interested in hunt and falconry he dilapidated his house’s wealth and even pawned and mortaged most his lands to minor landlords or the Faith. Impoverished he died in shame and lunacy at young age; some say poisoned by his own wife to let her son, Robert, inherit the lordship and prevent the final decay of House Penrose. He fortunately was little like her father: stern and upright. Lord Penrose however, was too late to stop what his father started and could only redeem part of his inheritance. He married his own cousin, Ravella Tarth, with whom he fell in love during a tourney at Tumbleton. By her Penrose managed to father a ruddy son at old age, Ronnet.
The kid was an unruly child, pampered since he was born. However, he was sent as a ward to Tarth, where he shared room and playtime with Lord Boremund Tarth, four years his senior, and he learned discipline and responsability. Penrose, in regards of his ancestry, was too sent to the capital to serve as one of the late king Aegon’s cupbearers, albeit not for long, as Lord Robert died leaving the young teenager as lord of Parchments. The young Ronnet had to learn how to rule fast and indeed he learned. Naturally authoritarian, stern and unforgiving he was harsh, ruthless but still just and patient. With time he became steward and right hand to his cousin and liege, Lord Boremund Tarth, and married Alienor Connington, a red-haired woman of an old and rich Stormlander house. A marriage Tarth himself brokered to honor his trusted cousin. Since, Lord Penrose has ruled over Parchments with an iron hand and calm demeanour.
SER CORTNAY PENROSE
Born 243
Status: Unmarried, betrothed to Lady Johanna Dondarrion.
Children: None.
Traits (8):
+3 Battles.
+2 Duels.
+2 Survival.
+1 Joust.
BIOGRAPHY:
A young man, red-haired, muscular and tall. Eldest son and heir of Ronnet Penrose, he squired for his maternal uncle, Lord Connington. Bold, stern and capable he is deemed as a fitting heir for Parchments. Cortnay won his spurs at young age, during a tournament at Poddingfield. He is skilled with the sword and the lance and rode with his father and cousin Tarth during Maelys’ invasion of the Seven Kingdoms. Iron-willed and resourceful, he was tasked with smuggling Rhaegar to Essos by his father, Lord Ronnet, willing to spare the boy from a live of servitude and to pave a future restoration of House Targaryen. Since, Cortnay has trained and lectured a Rhaegar in-disguise as Jon Longwaters, making the prince his squire. He's fiercely protective of his squire and acts as the would-be-King mentor.
