So what do you think guys, will this popularization of the Great War perhaps nudge CA in the desired direction... towards a World War I Total War game?

It looks heavily stylized in places (I saw some sort of weird steel helmet-mask thing that I would chance is purely fiction), but I'm thinking that the lead of a commanding franchise like Battlefield foraying into this era will bring with it other developers and games.

Yeah this is a really big deal as far as general interest in the WW1 era.

I do think this will give CA a nudge like you say, obviously interest is on the rise for WW1, not in decline like ww2 lol

Not only is it set in WW1, it explores some of the general public's least known fronts like the Alps and the Middle East. It could be the start of a change in the pop culture view of the war.

It's a smart move in a market saturated by contemporary and futuristic settings if done right.

But, on the other hand, it's also probably going to be kinda awesome.

Hopefully they add bots.

Its going to have a full single player campaign spanning many fronts and different characters, Im really really excited for this game!

I'm really hyped for the game, and I'm glad to see a movement towards historical based warfare instead of futuristic flying in zero gravity and probably eating condensed marshmallows in space kind of thing.

The way their games are made, they use lines so i dont know if WW1 will work. An idea would be to have squads like the basic squad of an NCO, Rifleman,LMG gunner then a grenedier then have some special ones to add, then through the tech you can upgrade what weapons they use and eventually give them body armor. If they take an alternate history route they could make it so at the end of the tree you can give certain squads a full suit like in the BF 1 trailer, but i kinda doubt it would be done since its not historical, nor were full suits used. (I mean head to tow in armor not a piece here and there on them)
