    Default Infuriating glitch

    Greetings,

I am experiencing a glitch in the game that is driving me crazy. Every once in a while my game goes haywire. If I am on the campaign map, the glitch brings me back to the start of the turn, mutes the sound, opens the button configuration screen, and opens the text box in which you type in cheats. It also hides settlement names and displays character ones. If glitch happen during a battle, my game is also muted, it also displays the text box and button configuration screen, and hides the unit flags and descriptions. It also fast forwards the battle. What could be wrong? Is there something wrong with the game, my PC, which is an HP laptop, or is there something else? I tried reinstalling the game but it didn't help at all.

All these are effects that can be done via the keyboard. If you have a wireless keyboard please check if something interferes with the signal. Sometimes other USB connections next to the dongle (like an expanded drive) have this effect.

I have had this issue in the past and occasionally still experience it. Try updating your keyboard drivers.

In my case, it used to happen even when I would plug or unplug my Alienware laptop's charger cable. It happened the other day for the first time in a long time actually, when I pressed my keyboard's Wi-Fi button, so perhaps my drivers need updating again.

A way to avoid this is, if you need to press such a button or do whatever it is that is causing your issue, Alt + Tab to the desktop, press the button, and then re-open the game window. The game will be undisturbed.

If you don't think you're actually doing anything to cause this, it could be something on your PC "changing" while you play. An example would be if you are on a laptop and your battery drains to a certain point to change to a power saving mode, which would alter some settings and possibly "bump" something that in turn affects the game.

I don't know why the issues occur. The re-loading of the turn is particularly bothersome, but you can also try and save more often, so at least you don't lose your progress. You can toggle settlement and character names back on using Ctrl + T and Ctrl + N, if you didn't know that already, while the sound can be unmuted from the menu.

Reloading of the turn will be a loop of quick\auto save and quick load.

The above problem (expansion drive) happened to me while using any application. Plugging the drive into a USB slot further away from the keyboard\mouse dongle solved it.

That reminds me that unplugging or pluggingor my wireless mouse dongle also caused this problem.

Thank you for the suggestions. I don't have a wireless keyboard, I play the game on my laptop, which is always plugged in. I do have a wireless mouse, though, but why and how could this cause problems? I also play Rome 1 on this laptop and have never experienced such problems with it.
