Default Adding upgrade path to Legionary Cohort

I've been searching the files, but I am not as good of a modder. Wanted to ask how, where, to add an upgrade path to Legionary Cohorts. Marian Legionaries upgrade to Legionary Cohorts, can I add an upgrade path for them as well into Armored Legionaries?

Times I've played DEI I've never got to IMperial reforms, got bored before then. This time I stuck through until now...yay imperial reforms, now I can get armored legiona...I have to disband every single Legionary Cohort to replace them!?

In other words, anyone knows the files where the upgrade paths are? That way I can mod the paths and the money it cost to upgrade units.
    Marian legionaries>legionarie cohort

That way I can add just one extra upgrade so that it is:
    Marian legionaries>legionarie cohort>armored legionaries

    Please help

    Thanks

That suggests your suppose to add those armored guys to your legions like u'd attach veterans. Maybe both co-existed or only for special legions i.e. dacian campaign.
I'm not much of a history buff but this looks intended.

They were mainly in the North East, which as you state was that campaign. But really is a piece of armor. They aren't veterans, or in any way more capable than normal soldiers. They simply have upgraded armor. Hence why I am hoping somebody will be kind enough to point me to the files where the upgrade paths are located.

The difference between a soldier with kevlar body armor, and a soldier with kevlar body armor and groin protection isn't their training. One just has an extra piece of armor. Following that train of thought is what I based my idea on, I don't need to disband an entire unit to get extra armor.

My idea is to hopefully, again if somebody is kind enough to point me in the right direction.
Add upgrade path to legionarie cohorts to have armored legionaries.
Make it more expensive to upgrade them. So as to simulate the expense of sending pieces of armor across the empire rather to a centralized location for training a brand new unit.

So again, anyone knows the files where the upgrade/retraining paths are?

You can add an entry to techology unit upgrades table and tie it to one of the techs. The issue with upgrades is that they replace the unit, so Imperial legionaries would be replaced by armored ones completely.

I am a bit confused, I am not currently at my own pc. The reason I am confused is because you mention they will replaced completely.

But I can still recruit, legionarie cavalry and upgrade to legionarie equites. I can still recruit marian legionaries who can upgrade into legionarie cohorts. I can recruit veteran legionaries, and upgrade them into evocati.

All of this is after the imperial reforms kick in.
My hope is I can still be able to recruit
    Lgionarie Cohort
    Armored Legionaries

However, if I misunderstood your post and you are simply warning me that I CAN still recruit legionary cohorts, BUT ONCE upgraded they will be lost. yes I don't mind. I want to be able to recruit both, but the armored legionaries being slightly more expensive.

I usually have 12 infantry. So I want 3-4 of my cohorts to be armored. Without having to loose my rank 5-8 I already have throughout my armies. I just want to promote some, not all, of my existing cohorts.

Thanks for the hint, I'll try it when I get home.

If you have marian legionares and imperial legionares at the same time, then your scripts are broken.

Ah...I was afraid me meddling with my files would cause an issue.

I wonder why though, I lowered the reform dates by 10 turns.
And I modding the imperium level benefits. I haven't touched anything else, simply because I don't about other pieces and how to touch them .

At least the game doesn't crash I don't think there is an issue. Thanks for the replies to everyone, I'll try what Dresden suggested when I get home

The inability to properly upgrade troops from one type to another in TW is a serious failing. I don't know that anyone has found a solution.

For example, as Rome, one should basically NOT be able to recruit Principes and Triarii. You should be able to upgrade Hastati with some experience into Principes, but not beyond half of the number of Hastati that you have. Elite units are typically veterans, and should be created from them, not fresh minted at your training facility.
