The Kingswood covered the horizon like an ominous veil: as old as the land it covered, the woods were once haven for the Children of the Forest. Old legends and folk songs spoke about the beasts and hidden menaces lurking on the forests. It mattered little for Maelys Blackfyre, who looked atop his stallion how the troops marched through the forest, the host under his command was fearsome: At the head of it marched Fossoway with the elite sellsword cavalry of Spotted Tom and swift riders who screened the forest before him, tracking and searching, Ned Hill, one of the bastards of the Blue Cock Company tracked the trails and the hidden paths (ooc: +3 scout). The Summer Islanders, carrying longbows and ligth of foot ran before the riders, cleaning the forest of witnesses, the accuracy of their bows and their sharp gaze killed beast and man alike, including a couple hedge knights and three merchants caught by surprise. Slowly the bulk of Maelys army advanced, the elite core of the Golden Company, marching in good formation, and the heaviest troops in the Blackfyre army, including Tyroshi swordsmen with dyed beards and Pentoshi spearmen with forked beards. Lyseni light horsemen screened the flanks, while their heavier aristocratic counterparts marched alongside the main army, their banners fluttering with the wind running through and into the woods. Maelys, in full armor, was surrounded by his innermost circle of bodyguards and household knights, all of them wearing black, intricate armors of fluted design with dragon-winged helmets and carrying long lances and sharp axes and hammers. Every single resource at his disposal was employed to ensure the success of his plan and knowing exactly where the so-called King waited by the river Maelys slowly bypassed his position, his men continously screening and scouting, eliminating every obstacle in sight: paths were cleared and even some trees were felled cleaning a road for the army; long after that the smallfolk still talked about the Black Dragon's Path, which became a prefered way in and out of the Kingswood.
Grinning wolfishly Maelys looks at the golden armored phalanx...

In the meanwhile, Spotted Tom had a hard task on his hands, to attack the King at the Wendwater bridge and create a diversion. He had a sizable host of infantrymen, a myriad archers and a pack of elephants, whose towering bulks were a sight to behold: their tusks covered in gold and sharp steel, the flanks covered in mail and scale, towers on their backs manned by Myrish Crossbowmen. The banners of the Golden Company fluttered along the Black Dragons and those of the Band of Nine. Most of Spotted Tom's troops were the colourful and exotic sellswords, including several dothrakis who had endured the frightening travel by sea, hundreds of Volantene slave spearmen with tattoed faces, men from the Disputed Lands sinewy and hard, Myrish crossbowmen with their large shields covering their backs, Lyseni lowborn serving as spearmen and Tyroshi axemen with long, dyed beards and silvery mail. Essos marched forwards into Westeros. Swift riders came back and forth between Maelys and Tom, exiled Westerosi dressed like common squires. The pretender's plan was audacious, but certainly... could work.
