Re: Host of the Stormlands
Word is sent to Ser Herbert: he shall advance towards the capital through Fellwood. The King's Army is at Wendwater and will be taken care of by Maelys himself. Lord Baratheon sends his regards...

Re: Host of the Stormlands
Mathis sits carefully on his dappled stallion studying the surrounding land. The whole situation didn't sit well with him. He had only seen Mayls once, but the man had unnerved him. A man with two heads was simply unnatural, and better men were right to stay away. Maybe he should have stood with Swann, but no Lord Baratheon had called him, and his oaths still held. Mathis was not one to go back on his word easily. With a small shake of his head he rode for Harbart's command tent.

Re: Host of the Stormlands
Harbert stood stooped over a swiftly drawn out map, bedecked in Stormlander steel. Looking up as Lord Caron entered, he gave a thin smile.
"Lord Caron. Welcome." He said, simply, before scratching his bristling chin.

Mathis nods in greeting giving Harbart a small smile to hide his discomfort with the whole situation. "Any word from our king or lord Baratheon?" he asks glancing down at the map in front of the man.

Harbert grit his teeth, and merely shook his head.
"None. Although I fear we shall see my nephew soon should we not cooperate with Blackfyre."

Re: Host of the Stormlands
With a sigh, Harbert glanced down towards the map, and traced a path from Storm's End to the capitol.
"King's Landing, is where he wishes us to go."
He looks up at Caron with a grimace, his grey eyes pained.
"I understand, Lord Caron, that this will be difficult. I have no love for Maelys. But I do this for my nephew, and my brother's memory."
He paused, his voice hoarse with anger.
"I do this... For house Baratheon."

Re: Host of the Stormlands
Mathis nods slowly digesting the mans words. "My oaths are to Baratheon Ser not Maelys. I stand with your house." He pauses studying the map.
"If we march on Kings Landing we declare ourselves for Maeyls no matter what the circumstances are. The King may not be forgiving of that treason." Then he points to the Southern most point of the map. "The other question is Dorne. If they march out of the Prince's Pass while we are entangled in battles up North half the Stormlands could be a ruin before we can turn to meet them. Any word on who they side with in this conflict?"

Re: Host of the Stormlands
"I will take the blame, should Baratheon be remembered as traitor. I led the troops, and I would have it remembered that my Lord played no part, nor his vassals."
Harbert retorted, his voice like grating iron.
"Dorne is an unknown." He admitted, tapping on the Boneway. "We must be wary of an attack from the South. I have half a mind to leave some soldiers down there in case an attack comes from the Stone Way, but it would be a waste of levies if they do not strike."

Re: Host of the Stormlands
Mathis nods somberly at the older mans words. "I admit, I am reluctant to leave my Keep defenseless if there is a risk of Dorne coming out of the pass with its full strength." Especially for the Blackfyre bastard he adds silently to himself.

Re: Host of the Stormlands
"I would perhaps suggest raising your militia, Lord Caron. While costly, it will allow us to prepare in case of Dornish attack."
He paused, as he gauged the Lord's reaction.
"House Baratheon would be willing to reward you for such a service, of course."

Re: Host of the Stormlands
He sighs shaking his head. "My slowly my funds are scrapped thin as it is. I am arming new men as we speak and I am reluctant to pull so many from their fields." He pauses looking at the pass again. "I will have twelve hundred men at arms raised in the next few months. I must pray that that is enough to hold." He doubted that it would be if the Dornish decided to march out in force, but there was little else he could do. "I would send my sister and brother to Storm's End, but putting any of my family nearer to Blackfyre then necessary might be worse than leaving them in Nightsong."

Re: Host of the Stormlands
"We must take heart from the fact that it will cost them just as much as us to field an effective force."
He said, with a wry smile. Harbert himself knew the coffers of Storm's End were straining under the weight of having very few hands to tend the fields.
"That number, as well as your garrison, may be enough to hold. It must be enough. We cannot turn back from the capital."

Mathis nods slowly, "Then we march to King's Landing. May the Seven have mercy on us." He says his voice still uncertain.

OOC: We will march in around 4 hours, because that's when my levies have officially been raised.

Re: Host of the Stormlands
It was early morning when the Baratheon host had finally gathered and was ready to depart. The campsite outside of Storm's End had been dissembled as quickly as it had appeared, with the army moving north towards the Kingswood, where they would take the dangerous road to the capitol.

Re: Host of the Stormlands
Mathis rode in front of the column banners flying behind him. If they took this path their would be no turning back. Sighing he spoke to a man briefly handing him a letter. The man turned and galloped off riding hard towards Nightsong. His sister would need to know what was happening. With that he turns hands gripping the reigns determinedly it would be a long ride to Kings Landing and once their? The capital would not fall nicely into their hands. He could feel the dice rolling as he weighed the possible outcomes. Would Blackfyre provide Naval support? If not the capital could withstand a siege indefinitely. With a sigh he rides on lost in thoughts of the battle to come.

Re: Host of the Stormlands
The Royal host of Aerys Targaryen had arrived at the edge of the Kingswood, where they were confronted by a host of Stormlanders. A banner carrier bearing the flag of truce rode forwards, asking for the two commander to meet.

Re: Host of the Stormlands
A horn sounds thourgh out the camp . 1 blast, 2 blasts. "Seven hells" Mathis mutters "not now". A third blast rings thourgh the camp. Enemies were approaching Maelys had finally come for them.
A man enters Mathis's tent. "My lord an army rides up the kings road."
"Maelys?" he asks voice sounding resigned
"No my lord, King Aerys comes under the flag of Truce. He wants to meet with you."
Mathis brightens visablly, "Ready my horse I will be out momentarily."
