a problem

In the past I haven't been really good installing these mods, this time I think I installed it right but I must have done something wrong.
My problem is that when I double click the Chivalry shortcut my computer screen goes to a screen of a knight and it says "total war chivalry" It does this for a minute and then it shows another screen that looks like it's going to start loading the game. The screen only shows for a minute and then it crashes back to my main screen. It doesn't should any sort of error messages after I do it.

1.I installed a clean version of Rome Gold Edition.
2. I installed Chivarly .50 into my activision folder.
3. On my shortcut i put
"C:\Program Files\Activision\Rome - Total War\RomeTW.exe" -show_err -nm -mod:chivalry

Check out the menu 'Options', if there is displayed 1.5 (or 1.6) in the right top corner of the screen. I don't have the RTW Gold Edition, but there might be a problem with the RTW patch versions(?). Otherwise, i have no clue, as it seems you have installed correct.

And, did you make also the change for the second line in your shortcut? This is a must!!! See once more the Readme to this theme 'shortcut'. There must be set in your case "C:\Program Files\Activision\Rome - Total War"

yeah I had the right second line.

Perhaps I need to install some sort of patch before installing Chivalry?

is your chivalry folder located in "C:\Program Files\Activision\Chivalry" or "C:\Program Files\Activision\Rome - Total War\chivalry"

by the way you described it in your first post, I am not sure. But the second one of the two is the correct one (assuming your RTW is installed in the default directory).

Besides that, like DaVinci said, start your vanilla RTW, and go into options from the main menue, and check the top righthand corner. It should say 1.5, or if you start BI, it should say 1.6.

If nothing else works, the best sollutions seems to be to reinstall your game. But I suggest trying all options first, since reinstalling is usually an unnecessary hassle.

You have Gold Edition right? Easy, Gold Edition does not have its directorys in the Activison folder, the game (for gold edition) is based in the Creative Assembly folder, wrong folders
