    Default Diadochi Signup Thread

Sign up here, guys. Here are the char/faction rules, copied from the main thread:

    Character creation rules
Please follow this format when writing your character application:

    Name:
    Ethnicity:
    Trait:
Pick only one per character. If a member of your family comes of age, you can select a trait for them.
Ancillaries: You may choose to have one ancillary at the start of the game, except for Alexander's corpse & ring. Possession of Alexander's body must be determined at the Partition of Babylon; possession of his ring will be determined at the start of the game by dice roll, though there's no chance of it going to a non-Macedonian.
Wife: You may choose to start the game with a wife. If you do, you can have kids right away, but you won't be able to secure a strategic marriage yourself (though that's a moot point if you have kids, so yeah). For balance purposes, if you want kids then you need to have a wife who's still alive & officially married to you at the start of the game.
Family: Your kids, siblings, cousins etc. How many kids you have at the start of the game, if you even want any, and their ages will be determined by dice rolls: 1d6 for the number of kids, and 2d8 for each of their ages.
Biography: As usual, I want at least one six-sentence paragraph here. Anything less and I won't approve your application. Don't forget to include a year of birth so we know how old your character is!
Provinces: Please keep a map of your domain in your faction thread & update it as necessary.

Also, obviously you shouldn't forget to list your income and military forces in your faction thread.

    Ethnicities
Macedonian - You hail from Alexander's homeland, Macedon proper, and likely occupied a high rank in his army & inner circle. Though the Macedonians are counted among the Greeks, they are much more martially focused than most of their cousins in the south, and specialize in employing the 'hammer-and-anvil' tactics combining phalanxes & heavy cavalry perfected by Alexander the Great himself. Macedonians accordingly enjoy a +1 bonus to all battle rolls on flat terrain, which stacks with an Infantry/Cavalry/Skirmisher Specialist trait's bonus. The majority of players should be Macedonians so we don't have silliness on the level of Alexander's deathbed being surrounded entirely by Persians or w/e at the start of the game.

Greek - You are a proud son of one of the Greek poleis. The Macedonians may technically be considered fellow Hellenes, but they barely rank above the truly unwashed savages of the north or the scheming, effeminate Persians to the east in your educated eyes. Some of the Greek states of the south have taken advantage of Alexander's death to revolt against the Macedonians who'd imposed a yoke on their necks after Chaeronea 15 years ago, and it will be up to you to decide whether to join them in their efforts to free Hellas proper or look to the future & work with your new Macedonian overlords. Greek characters can be assigned to any one province to increase its income by 50%. I'll allow one Greek player to assume control of the Rebel Greeks who control Attica, Thessaly and Aetolia at the start of the game as well.

Anatolian - You were born to one of the myriad native peoples of Anatolia: Phrygians, Pisidians, Carians, Lydians, Lycians, Cappadocians, Mysians, Bithynians...the list is almost endless. Your people's warring petty-kingdoms and tribes were subdued by greater powers in recent centuries, first the Persians and now the Macedonians. But now Alexander, who had humbled your previous Persian overlords only to take their place, is quite dead, and for whatever reason you were deemed important enough to be given a place at his successors' table as they discuss the future of his realm. Anatolian characters get a -1 point discount and -1 day when recruiting non-Hellenic, non-elephant units.

Armenian - You hail from Armenia, a rugged mountainous region east of Anatolia. The Persians vassalized the old Orontid kings of Armenia in Darius III's time and reduced them to vassals, but ultimately the gods' joke was on them - their empire is no more while the Orontids & the Armenian people still endure today. However, the death of Alexander has thrown the entire Near East into disarray, and the Armenian people face an uncertain future as his empire threatens to disintegrate. Armenians get a stackable +1 bonus to their battle rolls in rough terrain: forests, hills, mountains, etc.

Persian - You are a Persian. Once your people ruled most of the known world, halted only by the elephant-riding Indians in the east and a particularly stubborn gaggle of Greeks in the west who missed the irony of claiming they were defending their freedom from the largely slave-free Achaemenid Empire while keeping slaves, but those days are gone now thanks to Alexander, whose pikes and lances brought the Persian Empire crashing down and extinguished the Achaemenid line. Nonetheless, even the hardest falls are survivable, as your existence and continued political relevance demonstrates. Persians get a stackable bonus +1 to all diplomatic rolls when engaging with a non-Hellenic NPC.

Bactrian - You're from Bactria, a mountainous region sitting at the extreme northeastern fringes of the Persian Empire. Yours is an extremely rough & defensible land that gave even Alexander pause, and even once he captured the seemingly impregnable Sogdian Rock he wedded the beautiful Roxana as part of an effort to soften your people's resistance to his coming. Now he is dead, and his empire's future is uncertain even as Roxana grows heavy with their child. Bactrians get a stackable +1 to all rolls when fighting on the defense. I will also allow one Bactrian player to have their character be a relative of Roxana's (she's mentioned to have had at least one brother who was appointed to lead a troop of cavalry by Alexander IRL) if they so choose.

Egyptian - You are a native Egyptian, a proud heir to one of the oldest and most storied civilizations in the world. The Persians ended Egypt's last native dynasty in 525 BC, but they were never the most gracious of overlords and so it was to your people's great joy that Alexander the Great, no doubt aided by the same Amun he came to identify with his chief god Zeus, broke their power over the land of the Pharaohs in 332 BC. But you owed a debt to Alexander, not his successors - so, now that he is dead perhaps it is time to cast out these Western interlopers who came after him and re-establish an Egypt for Egyptians? Alternatively you could of course look to the future and collaborate with the new conquerors...Egyptian characters get a stackable +1 to all rolls when fighting in deserts.

Syrian - You're a Semitic-speaking (likely Aramaean or Phoenician) native of the northern Levant. Once subjugated by various greater Mesopotamian empires such as the Assyrians and Babylonians, then by the Persians, you now find yourself under the rule of Western overlords instead - but does this present an opportunity for rebellion, or self-enrichment through loyalty? Your people are famous for their skill at archery and are related to the Jews of Israel & the various Arab tribes to the southeast. Syrian characters get a stackable +1 to combat rolls involving archers.

Jewish - You're a Jew. Your people have suffered much since your kingdoms of Israel & Judah were cast down by the Assyrians & Babylonians and thousands upon thousands of them were forcibly resettled away from the Holy Land centuries ago, but the Persians who came after them were gracious enough to let your people go back to their homeland. Now the Persians are gone, destroyed by the Macedonians as prophesied by Daniel long ago, and the future for God's chosen people can only be known by Him. Will you collaborate with these new pagan overlords, or take advantage of the inevitable chaos to rebuild the Kingdom of Israel & properly honor God? Jews get a stackable +1 to all ambush rolls.

Indian - You hail from northwestern India, the last of Alexander's conquests before his untimely (or very timely) death. Your people have not had to know his yoke long before he suddenly bought the farm, and it remains to be seen whether those who come after him can enforce their will on your people; thus, this seems like a great time to regain your independence...or, if you are so inclined, to remain loyal to the legacy of the one man who humbled your people and bring the light of his civilization to the rest of your cousins in the subcontinent. Indians get a -1 point discount and -1 day when recruiting elephant units.

Heterogenes - You're of mixed Macedonian/Greek and non-Hellenic parentage. You will have access to both of your parents' peoples' ethnic bonuses but you'll also suffer a +1 increase to revolt rolls every turn, as neither the Hellenes or non-Hellenes are particularly pleased at the prospect of being ruled by a mongrel - at least not this early into the age of the Diadochi. No character can start as a Heterogenes, but any child they have with a Hellenic (if non-Hellenic) or non-Hellenic (if Hellenic) spouse will grow up to be one.

    Traits
Infantry Specialist: +1 to combat rolls for all spearmen & heavy infantry under his/her command.

Skirmisher Specialist: +1 to combat rolls for all archers & light infantry under his/her command.

Cavalry Specialist: +1 to combat rolls for all light & heavy cavalry under his/her command.

Gate Breaker: +1 to combat rolls when leading a siege.

Wall Defender: +1 to combat rolls when defending in a siege.

Silver Tongue: +1 to diplomatic rolls when negotiating with an NPC.

Master Administrator: Increases the income of a province he's assigned to by 50%. This stacks with the Greek ethnic bonus, allowing a Greek MA to double a province's income. You can only assign one MA per province.

Ambusher: +1 to pre-battle rolls determining whether or not your character's army is able to ambush an opposing force (in the event that an ambush is successful, you will get to arrange your own deployment, but the enemy can't - instead I will handle their deployment for them & make it known to you).

Charismatic Recruiter: -1 point to all unit recruitment costs. Costs cannot go below 1 point, however. (so no free recruitment)

Fertile: +1 to birth rolls for this character's wife.

Hellenizer: Halves the time necessary to fully Hellenize a province, but doubles the risk that a revolt will break out in whichever province you're Hellenizing every turn.

Friend to Natives: Native populations will not rebel against you under normal circumstances and the risk of them rebelling when you're Hellenizing their province is halved, but Hellenization now takes twice as long.

    Ancillaries
Alexander's body - You have Alexander's corpse in your faction's possession. While everyone no doubt expects you to send it back to Macedon for a proper funeral, so long as it's in your hands there's nothing actually stopping you from burying it somewhere you believe is more fitting & that's conveniently in your domain. Doing so will increase your subjects' support for you, granting you a -5% discount on all troop recruitments for 2 turns, but it's not likely to win you many friends among your fellow Diadochi and will also antagonize Hellenic NPCs, giving you a penalty to diplomatic interactions with them. Letting the body go to Macedon for a funeral there won't gain you anything but it won't cost you anything, either. Obviously, since Alexander only had one body only one character can have it at any time.

Alexander's ring - Whoever Alexander gives this ring to will be able to assume the regency over his empire unless every single other Diadochos votes against his ascension at the Partition of Babylon. Only one character can have this ancillary at any time.

Old captain - An old, battle-hardened mid-ranking commander of Alexander's army who has a good reputation with the troops & has recently attached himself to your cause. If your troops are on the verge of routing and botch their first morale roll, they get a second roll thanks to his inspiring presence.

Legendary steed - A horse whose speed, agility and loyalty was only outdone by Bucephalus himself. The rider gets a stackable +1 to commanding cavalry.

Legendary armor - A set of armor of unparalleled quality. Allows you to escape death once in every battle, unless you're attacked with artillery (in which case no earthly armor will save your ass ).

Bodyguard - A skilled master of arms whose loyalty to you is beyond question, and who you know will die for your sake if needed. -1 to all assassination rolls targeted at you.

Master assassin - A morbid genius who never seems to stop finding new and unexpected ways of killing people, but is fortunately loyal to you alone. +1 to assassination rolls.

Mistress - The Hellenes and most of their subject peoples don't have a problem with keeping a famed courtesan at your court to have some fun with on the side, so to speak. You have a 1 in 12 chance of spawning a bastard child every turn, who you can treat as any other character when s/he comes of age - except in letting them inherit leadership of your faction unless you legitimize them (which will piss off any trueborn children you still have around), although you can give them military commands & administrative tasks without having to legitimize them.

Translator - Having an emissary fluent in both your tongue and those of other peoples can never hurt. +1 to negotiation rolls with NPCs.

There are other special ancillaries not presently listed here which may be granted to you under certain circumstances, ex. Roxana & her child if she chooses to join your court or an Egyptian god's priest for a rebellious native Egyptian character. Those ancillaries' effects will be determined at a later date.

    Name: Calas
    Ethnicity: Macedonian
    Trait: Cavalry Specialist
    Ancillaries: Legendary Steed
    Age: 34
    Wife: Lanike
    Family:

    Children-
    Cleander- 14
    Arsinoe- 10

Calas has several brothers Nicanor, Chares, and Chabrias from his large family.

Biography: Calas was born in Orestis in 357 BC to a noble family who had accepted Phillip's rule and supported him throughout his reign. Calas was sent to Pella to receive an education alongside Alexander and practice normal Macedonian skills such as tactics, horse riding, and hunting. While he was far away from home, a rogue Thracian band murdered his parents, leaving only his brothers alive as his remaining family. With the loss of his parents, Calas delved ever deeper into his studies and became well known for having a way with horses. No horse had ever thrown him and even the most violent horse was gentle with him on its back. Eventually Phillip was assassinated and Alexander ascended to the throne, and he decided to continue with his father's plans of war with the Achaemenid Empire. Due to his friendship with Alexander, Calas was given a spot among the Companion cavalry as they made their way to the Balkans to defeat the rebellious Balkan tribes. Calas' bravery was noted during the campaign and he was promoted to an officer's position among the Hetairoi as a result. With the Greeks and Balkans defeated the army finally took up arms against the Persians themselves. Calas proved himself worthy of his new position at the battle of Granicus, fighting valiantly in the charge on the Persian center and even killing several Persian nobles. Recognized once again for his bravery he was again promoted to replace a fallen officer. Calas also participated in the battle of Issus, commanding part of the allied cavalry under Parmenion in their desperate defense against the Persian onslaught. Calas was wounded during the siege of Gaza and after the fall of the city he was sent to govern the region as satrap in Tyre while Alexander conquered Egypt and toured the country. Finally recovered from his wounds, Calas rejoined Alexander's army as a commander of part of the Hetairoi. During the fighting at the battle of Gaugamela Calas again showed his bravery and tactical flair for command of cavalry and was given full command of a division or allied cavalry. Further fighting against Bessus, Spitamenes, and Scythians after the death of Darius all involved Calas in some greater or lesser role. Many years of quite grueling fighting had turned him into a hardened cavalry man who ignored any small problem such as exhaustion. Calas accompanied Alexander on his Indian campaign and was again commander of some of the cavalry during the decisive defeat of Porus at Hydapses. Calas was wounded again during the battle and was sent to Egypt this time so he could recover from his wound and reorganize the province. Calas has learned much about governing and how to rule the peoples within his satrapies. The people too have appreciated his rather just rule and the temple elites don't seem to mind the lavish donations to their coffers either. Eventually with Alexander's return from the East, he visited the court in Babylon both on business as satrap and to visit with his friend and monarch. When news of Alexander's deadly illness reached Calas, he immediately rushed to Babylon to comfort his friend at his bedside....

    Provinces:

    Nicanor-brother
    Name: Nicanor
    Ethnicity: Macedonian
    Trait: Infantry Specialist
    Ancillaries: Old Captain
    Age: 30
    Wife:

Nicanor grew up in the shadow of Calas who was the eldest of their family. He was also born in Orestis in the year 353 BC. His career was far different than that of his brother. He served as a simple phalangite in the Foot Companions before winning a promotion after the battle of Granicus for his valor in battle. When Alexander besieged Halicarnassus Nicanor showed his true talents and was instrumental in the final capture of the city while leading his infantrymen into the breach. Nicanor did not rejoin the main force until the Siege of Tyre where he was instrumental again in helping to conduct the siege of the city. He was the first on the walls in the final assault and his men lead the slaughter throughout the city. With the city taken Nicanor applied his talents again during the siege of Gaza. With the walls falling apart and the mound built, Nicanor lead major parts of the assault until the city finally fell to the Macedonians. Nicanor accompanied Alexander into Egypt and was one of the garrison commanders that was left behind to retain control of the satrapy. The arrival of his brother as satrap years later made him extremely happy and the two have collaborated ever since with Nicanor serving as Calas's right hand in his new Egyptian satrapy.

    Chabrias-brother
    Name: Chabrias
    Ethnicity: Macedonian
    Trait: Sea Dog
    Ancillaries: Legendary Armor
    Age: 33
    Wife:

Chabrias was born in 356 BC in Orestis the second born after Calas. He was extremely interested in the sea and was sent to Athens to learn the art of sailing and fighting on the water. When Alexander assembled his fleet to combat the Persian fleets Chabrias was present and was captain of one of the triremes. When the navy was disbanded, Chabrias simply followed the army until his skills could be of use again. The siege of Tyre required naval officers again and Chabrias was given command of one of the Phoenician squadrons and under his command they defeated several Tyrian sorties. When Tyre fell, Chabrais followed with the fleet to Egypt where he was given a naval post there guarding the new harbor of Alexandria and patrolling to prevent piracy. Calas' arrival as the satrap meant that Chabrias was tasked with building more ships and increasing his patrols so that piracy could be eradicated in the region. With his brother in Babylon, Chabrias patiently awaits the outcome of the Partition of Babylon.

    Chares-Brother
    Name: Chares
    Ethnicity: Hellenizer
    Trait: Friend to Natives
    Ancillaries: Translator
    Age: 28
    Wife:

Chares is the youngest of Calas' brothers and the only one to not directly join the Macedonian military. He was also born in Orestis, but not until 351 BC. He has been trained as both a diplomat and recruiting agent for the Macedonian Empire. His translator speaks a number of languages which has allowed him to negotiate with and hire more mercenary reinforcements for Alexander's armies. He has traveled to Egypt, Thrace, Skythia, and even Dahae entering into negotiations with native tribes or hiring the warriors among them to fight for coin. Eventually, he even led Greek mercenaries to Asia to be planted as both settlers and garrison forces all over the newly conquered territory. When news of his brother Calas' appointment to satrap in Egypt was generally known, he journeyed there to join his brothers in helping the new satrapy flourish. He continues in his former duties under his brother in Egypt. Supervising the recruitment of new soldiers into the satrapal army and he is also helping address the concerns of the native population. Temples are being built to honor the Egyptian gods, the priesthood is seeing large donations being put into their coffers, and even the common folk are having their lot improved by Chares.

    Biography

Biography: Herakles was born in Pella in 350 BC to nobles Antiochos and his wife Sophia. Antiochos supported the rule of king Philippos II and served as a general in Philippos' campaigns. After the death of Philippos, the glorious king of Makedonia, Antiochos served Megas Alexandros in his campaign in Anatolia. As Herakles was one of the children tutored by Aristoteles he was considered exceptionally clever and soon finished his training. The next year at the age of 17 Herakles joined his father Antiochos and fought in the Battle of Issus showing his skill and bravery as an infantry leader along with his father. Commanding troops they took part in Alexandros' campaigns in the western Levant and in Egypt. Herakles took the initiative at Gaza to fight back against an enemy sortie that was being blocked by king Alexandros, leading infantry troops with swords drawn to advance along the hill of Gaza and surprise the flanks of that enemy force he cut them off and helped the king to rout them it was said that Alexandros gave Herakles his shield as a reward and granted more troops to his father's command. At Gaugamela Antiochos commanded part of the Phalanx and Herakles commanded the cavalry troops which covered Alexandros and his companions' right flank. He expertly intercepted enemies rushing in from the right and cleared a way for the King to lead his attack on the Persian center. At the Persian Gate Herakles' cavalry troops were of little use in the terrain however he was one of the first to suggest that the Persians in and around the pass ought to be surprised and attacked in their flank. After the capture of Persepolis and Pasargadae Herakles went ahead with a cavalry force into Media, Hyrcania and Parthia and recruiting local infantry and cavalry forces to support and guide his advance he was among the first to reach the cities of those regions. Unlike other Makedonian forces which were ambushed in their advance but his force followed key principles: to launch night raids on enemy camps, secure the country side and advantageous terrain and ambush enemy cavalry forces rather than be ambushed. Though he perhaps could have killed the murderer of Darius, Bessus the usurper, he instead kept up the pressure on the Persians and sought to maneuver deep behind Bessus' lines and cut off his support for which Bessus ultimately had few places to escape to. As a reward king Megas Alexandros rewarded him by appointing his father Antiochos to govern lands in Anatolia and assigning Herakles to his former military positions, Antiochos passed away in his sleep in Magnesia in the year 324. He employed similar techniques in the far north against the tribes which resisted Alexander as well as in India. His recruitment of local tribesmen, cavalry raids, battle tactics and strong but honourable dealings, as they saw it, were factors in the pacification of these tribes. At the Battle of the Hydaspes River he employed Bactrian and Scythian cavalry troops and together with Alexandros and Hephaistion took part in the cavalry charge which shattered King Porus' left flank. On the return journey Herakles was fortune enough to have taken a route through the north from India rather than through the Gedrosian desert. Upon the return he was able to meet with his father and younger siblings and family members and his young wife the noblewoman Kassandra of Pella. He was considered a particularly tricky tactician in all forms of warfare, so great was his reputation as a general that he was then made a military governor in Persis for the purpose of organizing troops and planning for Alexandros' next campaign but thus far he had only shown himself to be a soldier of good merit and an obedient commander for Alexandros. Upon receiving news that Alexandros had fallen ill he traveled to Babylon with all haste for his king's orders.

    32
    Ethnicity:

    Trait: Cavalry Specialist
    Ancillaries: Legendary steed
    Wife: None
    Family: 2 brothers, 1 sister
Biography: He was raised in Macedon beside Alexander himself the greatest general to have ever lived. But in their youth they were naught but boys, children playing childish games. His father had been a personal friend and confidant to Philip II. When Alexander came to power Hagen marched beside his new king and perhaps more importantly his friend. He fought beside him thick and thin across Greece, Anatolia, Egypt, Mesopotamia, and Persia. He even followed him to India though his blood and bones cried no. When Alexander was wounded by the Aspasioi it was Hagen who picked up his shield and protected his King's wounded body from harm, earning him the name Aegeus.

    Biography:
Antiochus was born in Aigai in the year of 390 BC to his father Cleitus and mother Charis. Antiochos and his family were frequent supports of Philip II and Antiochus rose to the status of strategoi in the Macedonian army. He took part in many of Philip's campaigns and reformed the Macedonian Army with Philip into the formidable army that conquered the world. He with Philip defeated the Illyrians, took control of the gold mines and at last defeated the greeks in Chaeronea in 338 BC. In 336 BC, Antiochos was an eyewitness of Philip's murder at the hand of Pausanias. With the rise of his son Alexander as king it was a public secret that he was more loyal to Philip II then he was to Alexander, he never got as close to Alexander then he was with Philip, however together with Alexander he defeated the Balkan tibes and finally the rebellious greeks at Thebes. However Alexander did not want to include him in his campaigns against the East and left him behind in Macedon to serve as regent, he was to stay at Macedon to secure Alexander's homeland from rebellion and invasions. In 331 BC the Spartans rebelled but they were defeated at the hands of Antiochos in Megalopolis. However despite this, Macedon prospered and enjoyed a period of peace under the reign of Antiochus. Antiochus ordered many buildings to be build in honor of Alexander and Philip as proof for his loyalty both to Philip and Alexander. With the news of Alexander's illness he rushed with his eldest son Cleisthenes to Babylon only to see Alexander's last hours and to hear his last words ''toi kratistoi''. And so was it how Antiochus outlived both Philip II and Alexander III, now an important task was ahead of Antiochus as his empire surely would be partitioned amongst the greedy and selfish diadochoi.

    Name: Aristazanes the Butcher
Spoiler Alert, click show to read:
Age:43 Ethnicity: Persian Trait: Master Administrator Ancillaries: Master Assassin Wife: Mandane Family: Oropastes, aged 74, uncle of Aristazanes,
Spoiler Alert, click show to read:
Traits: Silver Tongue Ancillary: Old captain
    Biography
Oropastes, that old rascal, has rightfully claimed the nickname "loyal". Even as a small toddler, he revealed to Artaxerxes II, that his older brother and heir to the family feud was a collaborator of Cyrus the Younger. The brother was 15 years old, but you never know, do you? Then, in the satrap rebellion, he boasts that he joined their forces, only to turn in the proper authorities every single rebellious satrap. Like really everyone. Then, when Artaxerxes II passed away, he informed Artaxerxes III that his brothers were very eager to betray them and when Artaxerxes III also died, he accordingly informed Bagoas of the plotting of Artaxerxes' sons. Finally, when King Arses planned to poison Bagoas, he said everything to the prime-minister and when the prime-minister poisoned Arses, he revealed that act of treason to Darius III. According to rumours, he was even involved in the Barsaentes affair, when thousands-years old Indian traditions about hospitality were remorselessly breached.
Pharnazathres, aged 33, brother of Aristazanes,
Spoiler Alert, click show to read:
    Traits: Ambusher Ancillaries: Bodyguard
    Biography
The younger brother of Aristazanes always exploited the chances for maritime trade his fiefs near Harmozeia offered. He specialized in slave-trade, being constantly willing to provide the ancient economy with the much needed free labour forces and his financial success was unprecedented. His trips were often very short and his cargo was even more often of lighter complexion that the typical of sub-Saharan Africans, despite his claims that he had invested his business in the Horn of Africa. Still, the slaves looked suspiciously similar to Indian or Arab sailors and merchantmen, but as Pharnazathres said, everything is permissible in war, love and trading. Especially if it concerns the elimination of the competition.
Ariomardus, aged 7, son of Aristazanes
    Biography
Aristazanes, born in Frada, the capital of Drangiana, in 367 BC, was a normal kid of his generation. As a young but lively nobleman, he spent his time learning archery, horsemanship, geography and history or by torturing serfs and kidnapping female peasants. All these preoccupations came to a sudden halt, when His Majesty, King of the Kings, Artaxerxes III, decided that Egypt would look better as a subjugated and looted Persian province than as an independent statelet. So, Aristazanes joined the emperor in his campaign, where he helped him to slaughter the Sacred Bull of Apis and transform it into something less holy, but more delicious (hence his nickname, since, contrary to the popular misconception, Aristazanes always respected the laws of war, or almost always, if we don't take Rhacotis, into consideration, but there were strong suspicions that the locals housed some rebels and anyway, hadn't Rhacotis been turned to ashes, Alexander wouldn't have established Alexandreia, would he?) So, when the Macedonian barbarian attacked the peaceful realm of the Persians, Aristazanes was unfortunately not able to participate in the battle of Issus, as he was busy managing the logistics, collecting the Drangianian soldiers and generally doing stuff. In Gaugamela, under the command of Barsaentes, the satrap of Drangiana and Arachosia, he commanded the rear, where as a responsible and clever commander, he gave orders to his men, from a very healthy position. Disaster followed and the Emperor was stabbed at the back by rebels, but when Alexander approached, Aristazanes wisely preferred not to follow his superior in India*.
Spoiler Alert, click show to read:
Historically, Barsaentes indeed sought refuge in India, only for the Indians to turn him in, when Alexander's threat was deemed more important than the rules of hospitality. Barsaentes was summarily executed.
Then, he followed Alexander in his bloody campaigns, always careful not to come close to the horse-archer henchmen of Spitamenes or the particularly menacing pachyderms of Porus. Finally, Alexander decided that it was about time to imitate Artaxerxes and Darius, so he died, leaving Aristazanes alone to mourn the losses of his companions and prepare himself for the land-grabbing that is about to happen.

    Name: Mithradāt (Mithradates)
    Ethnicity: Persian
    Trait: Silver Tongue
    Ancillaries: Translator
Age: 26 at 323 BC (born 349 BC)
    Wife: Single.

    Provinces: Persepolis, Pasagardae, Taoke

Biography: Mithradāt was born and raised in Parthava, though he is the son of the satrap Phrataphernes, a man who adhered to the courtly customs and fashions of the southwest. Mithradāt in contrast considers Parthava his home and the Parthians his people and kin. His grandfather was a courtier from Susa, and his mother was from a noble family in Babylon.

As an azad of Eranshahr, he is of the informal caste of noble warriors and landowners, and fully values his traditional duties to Airiia and whoever rules its people. Considered by his mother to be an archaic child when he was growing up, Mithradāt reveled in martial and physical training, his most beloved things becoming his horse, his bow, and himself.

When the Yaunas invaded and defeated the king at Gaugamela, Phrataphernes fled back to Parthava, before later submitting to the Yauna king, Iskandar. Phrataphernes was reinstated and kept on as the ruler of Parthava, but his son, Mithradāt became an attachment of the new king's marching court and, for a brief time, a commander of Iranian cavalry recruits. With time and patience, Mithradāt became sufficiently fluent in Greek and convinced his new masters that he was not their hostage, but rather their ally and perhaps even one of them.

    Khuranzim (Korasma)
Age: 17 in 323 BC (born 340 BC)
    Trait: Master Administrator
    Husband: Unmarried
Biography: Daugher of Phrataphernes, sister to Mithradāt. The eldest of the daughters of Phrataphernes of Parthava, Khuranzim is a patient, reserved lady, not unlike her similarly brooding mother. Quite capable like her father at managing and passing judgement, Khuranzim has been held back from marriage for she became quite useful to Phrataphernes in his last years.

    Parmiya (Parmida)
Age: 15 in 323 BC (born 338 BC)
    Trait: Fertile
    Husband: Unmarried
Biography: Daugher of Phrataphernes, sister to Mithradāt. The second of the daughters of Phrataphernes of Parthava, Parmiya was born on Navarōz (new year) and has grown up to be the most darling of the sisters of Mithradāt.

    Artastūnā (Artystyna)
Age: 13 in 323 BC (born 336 BC)
    Trait: Wall Defender
    Husband: Unmarried
Biography: Daugher of Phrataphernes, sister to Mithradāt. Artastūnā is the youngest of the daughters of Phrataphernes of Parthava. The young noblewoman has a will of her own, determined to do what she pleases rather than follow the dogma of her brother.

    Name:
    Lysandros Keraunos (the Lightning)
    Age:
    33
    Ethnicity:
    Greek
    Trait:
    Master Administrator
    Ancillaries: Translator
Wife: unfortunately wife died (roll for children)

Biography: "Sing me oh Muses a song of sacrifice, honour, revenge and victory, a song that rivals even those of the heroes of Troy and the Helper of all Man, sing me oh Muses the song of Lysandros Keraunos, the mighty lightning bolt of Argolis, of the sons of the olympian Herakles and the hero Pelops, of the seven souls who avenged their house and found victory in the eastern land of promise!"

Lysandros was born in 357 in the Peloponnesian city of Argos to a noble family under the leadership of Phaeton and his wife Deianira of Tyrins. Lysandros had grown to manhood within the city learning the core teachings of all Greeks but was especially keen on matters of coin, the construction and rule of the polis and the military drills. In those days Argos was at peace as the sons of Sparta had lain down their spears and Makedonia had united the Greeks. As the Fates, who so meticulously controlled the destiny of all beings, would have it Phaeton and his wife were struck down by his brother King Phaedros of Argos. For you see Phaedros' sibling Phaeton was born on the same day as he but as Phaedros was older by one and one half hour he was given the throne but this did not ease his paranoia and he attempted to destroy his brother's family many years later. Fortune was with Lysandros and his siblings as they were aided in their escape to Tyrins. From the mountains of Tyrins, Lysandros and his 5 brothers (of which one was born in Tyrins) waged war against Phaedros and his sons. Defeating several expeditions to Tyrins and advancing their rebel army dangerously close to Argos itself. King Phaedros paralyzed by fear sought to make peace with Lysandros and sent his daughter Makaria to Tyrins to wed Lysandros, allowing them all to return to Argos so long as they disbanded their troops and ceased their renegade activities. But as King Phaedros' madness had by now made him a tyrant several nobles sought to remove him from power, a conspiracy which Lysandros and his brothers were willing to join. Though Lysandros was in nature a calm in collected person he could also rapidly be moved by anger which motivated his decision to again take revenge on his uncle and his cousins. Together they slew Phaeton and his sons and placed another family member on the throne. Now these nobles sought do away with Lysandros and exiled him and his family for their part in the death of King Phaeton and his line. As fate or irony would have it the eldest son of Phaeton, Orestes, fled to Persia and Lysandros and his brothers would have been glad to pursue him.

After years of travelling from one city state to another they joined the ranks of king Alexandros in Anatolia. With a force of Greek mercenaries and volunteers they took part in the Makedonian siege of Halikarnassos in 334. They distinguished themselves by their bravery and persistence in their attacks. They were then allowed to campaign within Anatolia to clear out pockets of Persian resistance. Here they encountered Orestes of Argos leading Greek mercenaries in the service of Persia, suffering one defeat when he attacked their camp, one stalemate along a river crossing and five engagements which ended in their victory. They succeeded in pushing Orestes and other Persian units out of Anatolia and securing the passes of Cappadocia and the supply lines for the Makedonian army. At the time of the Battle of Issos, Lysandros and his brothers faced a minor Persian resurgence in the northern passes and easily defeated the Persians through their defenseive tactics in the mountains, which would have otherwise attacked King Alexandros from behind. They then captured the local Persian camp and a fortress which led into Armenia. As the war in the north had mostly ended Lysandros was ordered south to take part in the sieges of Tyre and Gaza. By now Lysandros had set himself apart as the strategist among his brothers and together with his brother Archelaos would work on reducing enemy towns and forts, Archelaos would later be called "the Bludgeon" for his massive charges into enemy defensive lines and for his rapid reduction of these fortified places. Archelaos had a twin brother called Anaxagoras who was given the nickname "the Beheader" for his use of assassins that would sneak into enemy camps and kill the opposing commanders. Prior to Gaugamela their Greek units screened one of the Makedonian flanks and Anaxagoras was able to surprise Persian screening troops and vanguards, together with Perdiccas "the Swift Wind" who would bring his cavalry troops composed mostly of Greeks, Syrians and Anatolians would charge into an enemy flank as they were caught off guard by his brothers' infantry attacks. There was also Periandros "the Strong Arm" known for his unbreakable phalanx, the backbone of their troops. At Gaugamela in 331 they commanded the Greek troops in Alexandros' secondary line and successfully guarded the Makedonian camp as well as acted as a rearguard in the secondary line. It was during this battle that Lysandros was able to kill his cousin Orsestes in an act of final revenge for the death of his own father. At the Persian Gates they outflanked the Persians defending the passes and then set to work taking various forts and cities on the Iranian plateau. Against the tribes of Bactria and Arachosia they fought as Alexandros' rear guard and subdued many tribes within their villages. They acted likewise in their campaign along the Indus and at the Hydaspes acted under Crateros where they attacked the engulfed left flank of Poros and pursued King Poros' shattered army.
At the end of the campaign in India they continued down the Indus and travelled through the Persian Gulf back to Babylon.

After serving faithfully for a decade King Alexandros made Lysandros a governor in Syria where he not only prevented all revolts but also maximized the monetary output for that province, in this task he was aided by his youngest brother Apollonios and a young cousin Telephos who although young proved to be a capable administrators and had a sharp intellects. The seven siblings of Argos were the bedrock of Lysandros' success. What was more for his military actions in support of Alexandros the king gave him the name Keraunos as he was unstoppable in his advance and all destroying like the lightning, his foe crumbled in the face of it. It was most unfortunate that upon they triumphant return from across the known world his wife Makaria fell ill and died after giving birth to their last child. What little man has the gods dispose of all too quickly! Life is an unwinnable game.

Biography: Agathokles Tigranes was born in Pella in 350 BC to a noble named Sopolis and Eurydice.

Sopolis was part of Philips personal bodyguard who rouse through the ranks by proving his merit in the field of battle.
Much of Agantholkes childhood was spent studying and training and much like his father, Aganthokles prove his worth in the
war against the Persians. Especially in the battle of Granicus and Issus where he killed five captains. Unfortunately for Agathokles he was wounded during the battle of Issus and was discharged back to Pella. During rest of 333 and 332
Agathokles did not see much action. However in 331 BC Agathokles would find his greatest achievement in the Battle of
Megalopolis where he lead a regiment of Lonchophoroi to help crush the right flank of the Spartan army and wound the Spartan King Agis. Soon afterward Agathokles was sent back to the East once again and he would participate in the battle of
the Persian gate and in the conquest of Persepolis. He was also present in the Battle of Hydaspes, but his role was minor in the field of battle. In 323 BC, before Alexander fell ill he put Agathokles in charge of Armenia. As soon as he arrived in Armenia he was faced with zealots in Armenia who wanted a independent Armenia and it would take him a month to take down the zealots, securing his place in Armenia. To secure his rule he adopted his last name to Tigranes to mix in better with the locals. The rebellion however took some time and Agathokles was unable to attend the funeral of Alexander thanks to this.

    Biography

Biography: Biography: Meleager was born in 347 to the Macedonian noble Jason of Callipolis and his wife Omphale of Cardia. His parents were Macedonian nobility who had lived in Thrace alongside many Macedonian nobles. At a young age he was tutored by Aristotle along side the children of other Macedonian nobles. His father was one of Philip's generals and conquered the Thracian Chersonese for him.
His father Jason set out with Alexander in 336 in his campaign in Asia Minor. Meleager was only old enough to fight at Issus three years later. He was also present at the siege of Tyre before being sent back to Thrace to govern that province. He fought Thracians and Illyrians on the north western frontier in the Balkans. He also helped to put down the rebel general Memnon in Thrace. In 331 he fought the Greeks led by king Agis III of Sparta and helped to defeat them too.
Meleager's father died fighting in India in 325. In the meantime Meleager had pacified both the Greek cities and Thracian tribes in Thrace. He had also tried to sail around the Black sea. He saw the tribes that lived in the north and made it as far as the Dniester River before lack of food and bad weather forced him to turn back to Thrace.
When he returned he was told that Alexander had died. He did not have time to go to Babylon but remained in the province that was assigned to him as satrap.
