A raven arrives at Castle of Bear island carrying a letter bearing the seal of House Hightower upon it. The letter reads:
To Lord Mormont,
I write this letter to you to extend an offer from trade between our two provinces. Oldtown has an excess of fruit and other luxury goods from around all of Westeros but we are in need of a reliable source of furs. I would like for House Mormont to become that source. I await your reply.
Sincerely,
Lord Godric Hightower, Lord of the Hightower, Lord of the Port, Voice of Oldtown, Defender of the Citadel, Beacon of the South, High Lord of the Honeywine
A party bearing the silver and blue sigil of House Frey approached the dour cliffs of Bear Island. Walder Frey himself led the party on his horse after landing on the beach, guiding them through mid morning mists to the gates of the castle.

A group of House Mormont Guards comes to escort them to the Mormont Keep as they past the gates they can see a carving of a woman in a bearskin with a babe suckling at her breast in one arm and a battleaxe in the other. As they pass it one of the Mormont guard looked at the Frey delegation and said with the soft voice.
Not all that come here like that carving so if you are one of then I would kindly ask you not to say that. Some may be offended. They are broth in the Mormonts' hall. All around the big rume there are guards with battleaxe all with the Bear Furs on their back. Lord Mormont sits on the end of the hall.
Lord Frey it is good to see you I hope that you journey here was a good one it is summer but we are so far north that it seems that the nature has forgotten to bring summer here also
As Frey was escorted into the chambers he hummed a few lines of The Bear and the Maiden. It seemed only fitting for this setting. "It is indeed, Lord Mormont." Frey began "Ponderously cold, it makes me wonder how anyone lives this far north for long!" He warmed his hands by the long hearth fire. "If it was much colder I could have walked here over the sea ice." he concluded "In fact I am here because of that very reason; the cold. Well, more like how you keep yourselves warm. I come with an offer of trade."

Yes our Furs if it was not for them there would not be any life here. What do you offer for them my Lord.
Walder smiles. "Very good! Expect our grains come spring. I am so glad that we could strike such an agreement, and strengthen the bonds of friendship between our houses!"
