To the Lords and Ladies of the West:
Those who fell in battle died valiently, their swords in hand and a roar on their lips. Now the Warrior gives them rest. However, the fault is of that prideful King, scion of a cursed line who refuses to acknowledge that Blackfyres are the rightful rulers of this great realm. My victory, however, came with a cost, the lives of those I want to rule, with Justice and a firm, determined, strong hand. Now, the so-called King Aerys has even dared to raise taxes; will you pay? haven't you spilled blood for him? isn't that enough? For me it is. Coin that should be employed in burying properly these brave sons of the West and not funding the excesses of the royal court. I wish no harm to the Westerlands and thus in sign of good-will I return to you their corpses, who have been properly attended and cared for, at my own expense. Let them rest, bury them and think twice who is the one you should really fight for.
Only the strongs shall thrive, in war and peace, through loss and triumph.
Maelys Blackfyre, King of the Andals, the Rhoynar and the First Men, Lord of the Seven Kingdoms, King of the Stepstones, Wielder of Blackfyre.
