Default Shouldn't the Macedonians have a stronger fleet?

I noticed that the Macedonian navy was roughly equal to that of Sparta and inferior to that of Athens. It is strange to think that a Successor state that was able to bring the Ptolemaic navy to its knees would have a generic naval roster available to them. It is not a big deal, but I did notice it now that naval engagements are much more fun. Thanks for the mod btw.

I don't have a history diploma so I'm not sure but I think Alexander's army was not Macedonian only. It was not a Successor State when it conquered Egypt. After conquering the Greek States I am pretty sure that those states also provided military help to Alexander. Maybe he used Athenians as marines.

I am not referring to Alexander's conquest of Egypt. I am referring to the events of the Second Syrian War when Ptolemy lost his holdings in the Aegean at the hands of Antigonus' navy.

Antigonus's realm stretched from Macedon to Syria and was by far the mightiest successor state at the time. So it' s no wonder his son was able to feed his megalomania and build those crazy dreadnoughts and war machines which get him his nickname. Later Macedon was a war worn nation after all the wars, invasions and overthrows happened to it for more than a century. It's fleet still dominated Aegean in times of Cretan War, but I think It wasn't really different from other fleets in terms of quality.
This, and game-wise a faction can't be strong in each and every aspect. Anyway, I rarely seen AI build something beyond basic ships, so if you want you can invest in Military Port branch and rule high seas once more!

Well that's the thing, the Macedonian fleet is known in history for its ridiculously-sized warships, yet here it is limited to a Penteres. I understand that Rome II's biggest ships are the Hepteres and the Egyptian Octeres, of which Carthage and Egypt can muster in game respectively. I think it would make sense to have the Hepteres available to Macedon.

Cool, I didn't know Macedonia ever recovered after the split in Succesor Statea

Was there something bigger than Octeres? You sound like there is, I'm quite curious

YES!!! The Syracusa, Archimedes' immense creation. There are also several other ships through that era that reach the thirties and forties.
