There are other requirements for these than just weapons metal import.....namely, the presence of mineral resources like iron, copper, etc....or weapons metals, in the region. I've looked at the building conditionals in both 2.5 and 3.0 in the Seleucid EDB.txt and they are exactly the same, so I can't imagine why they would work differently. The presence of a mineral, obviously, wouldn't show up in the building browser...only the building requirement which always shows up in spite of the presence of a mineral that would allow you to build the building. So, it's likely there is a mineral resource in the region that allows you to build these building without the 'mentioned' building.
I also looked in the building EDB, but again, there is no difference that I can see.
Spoiler Alert, click show to read:
building smith
{
levels blacksmith smiths_workshop foundry
{
blacksmith requires factions { barbarian, nomad, carthaginian, eastern, parthia, egyptian, greek, roman, } and building_present_min_level mineral_import weapons_metals_import or resource iron or resource copper or resource tin or resource lead
{
I can confirm that in both 2.5 and 2.6, the building trees work if you play as Rome. Umbria for instance requires a weapons metal import before a blacksmith can be built.
As I said, this isn't confined to the weapons metal import, but also to the army rations, but that is a lot harder to test as you generally do not need that until further along.
I also saw your reply in the other thread. If nothing changed with the province, Jerusalem in 2.5 couldn't build a blacksmith on turn 1, but in 2.6 and 3 it could.
I have been playing as the Ptolemaic Kingdom for a long time now, and I have never once had to build a weapons import, or a supply of army rations, for either barracks or blacksmiths. The only requirement that seems to work is the regional focus.
that's true btw, i've never built a supply army ratio and weapons import in my seleucid campaign up to now
Edit:
i believe this is due to the fact that from the main menu, on 1 turn, you can choose either"imperial campaign" or "one turn campaign" and one turn campaign appears to be the one bugged: several bugs that were reported in this thread( supply army rations, double greek culture building) show up only in the "one turn campaign" but not in the imperial one

Guys, quick question, how can i get the bloom to work, i select it in the launcher and i get the green writing at the top corner, however the screen just stays black while the game is running.
I don't have much experience with bloom, but I think you are almost there. You select it in the launcher, the green writing confirms it has loaded, then once the screen goes black, you need to alt-tab to get back to the game.
(I * think * the black screen is essentially the filter that is going to be applied to your game).

The alt tabbing was what I was missing. Thanks for the help
I was wondering if anyone else has had any strange audio crackling issues on the campaign map with the new 3.0 version. I also have my old 2.6, and 2.1 FGE versions and they don't seem to have the problem. Was there any changes regarding audio in the new release?
edit: Never mind, finally just reinstalled, sound's fine now.

Just tried RS 3 for the first time. Fought Hannibal (HH difficulty).
Immediately noticed that the range of balaeric slingers is huge. Is this intended? By huge, I mean, perhaps almost a quarter of the battlefield in range, perhaps more, perhaps less.
Our lines were a fair distance apart, well out of javelin range, with their slingers behind their line. We were slightly inside my half of the battlefield, and I had to withdraw my slingers to the very edge of the map to keep them safe from the enemy.
So perhaps, their range is a lot more than a quarter of the map?
I held the higher ground too, so I thought it was remarkable.

yeah, in the new version siege units, archers and slingers have incredible range, more range than I've ever seen in any total war mod. Not a fan. The losses you absorb from enemy fire, even cheap units, is devastating, not very accurate. The range itself might be "historically accurate" (not sure) but the deaths cause by slings bullets and arrows is definitely not. Maybe nerf missile damage or drastically decrease accuracy. I I had to go through the edu change it back to 2.6 ranges, I was sick of losing 20% of my force before the infantry engaged.
The problem i'm having isn't exactly an 'Issue' or 'Bug' per say, but It's something that I've noticed and it sure bugs me.
The way Units get experience seems to be weird, something that I'll try to explain. Say I take a two chevron unit, and in battle they get around 400 kills, and they don't go up a single chevron. However, when I repeated the same battle and instead Auto-Resolved it, the unit got around 325 kills, and went up one rank. My units rarely if ever go up in experience if I do battles myself, but if I Auto-Resolve them, the game seems to hand out experience like candy. Just something that I've noticed.
Another thing I've noticed is in the building lists, a few buildings don't show up. Namely the top tier temples such as 'Large Sanctuary of Tor'. Not something game-breaking, but It does make it a bit harder to plan ahead

The way units get experience is hardcoded I believe, and it is true that you will gain more XP from auto-resolve. Essentially, when you control the units, your front-line will get the kills, but also take the highest casualties, so you are losing your experienced units. When the battle is auto-resolved, this doesn't happen, as it is an abstract calculation.
re: the building lists, this is again an engine limitation, RS building trees are just too complicated to fit into the vanilla UI. Personally, I have enjoyed finding out where each temple tree and other buildings lead. Sometimes I have deleted them afterwards, but that is part of the learning curve; which is something I miss in new games, where all the information is given to you.

Though I will admit, finding things out on your own is nice, and I can understand the UI restrictions, some of us just think a bit too far ahead at times when looking at that planner. Though for the unit experience, my main problem is yes, my frontline units do get the most kills and casualties, but Usually the unit will at least take a chevron from a hard fought battle. It just seems odd to me
Just downloaded this mod again after reinstalling RTW, it played fine for the past 5 or so days playing it pretty well non stop, but when i booted it up today out of nowhere it now crashes whenever i try to play a battle, is there a fix for this? playing CD version windows 7, alex.exe
Also looking at my game now theres some strange things going on with it, the RS desktop icon has disappeared and for some reason my resolution settings were changed, went into settings to try and change them back, and im only being given 2 options for screen resolution (which is very strange since i have already been on this screen and tweaked these settings and i had many more resolution options than this) if anyone can give me any info on whats happening here id very much appreciate it

Why don't you just try to reinstall keeping your savegame? Since you were able to play without any issues for 5 days it should go just fine if you do that.

Are you using disc or steam? I may be able to help once I know which one.
EDIT: check out my answer below to another question, hopefully it may help you.
