He is in the wrong Family, the family Tree will only show you the members of the ruling Family.
It is very obvious when you play those pesky romans, in the beginning the scipios are not visible.

Three things i didnt like about RS 3.1 and to be fixed

    1.Rebellion everywhere!
Sometimes its necessary to exterminate the whole population
TWICE to quench the rebellion, when you have taken over a city.
Cumbersomb, not even the Romans had this problem!!!

    2.Agressive barbarians

    3.Extremely powerful Boii-barbarian tribe
massive, at least as twice as powerful as the mightiest legions around

    Three things i did like

...well everything...mostly...annoying rebellions though...a liiiiiiiiiiiiiiiitle to hard...
cant quench every rebellion in every barbarian town...takes forever...

realistic... well perhaps, but this is a game not a BBC-drama lesson...

    I vote a resounding 'no'...

...and for my part that's how and why I just love it to death. I also appreciate the joy of playing a game rather than a mindless piece of mere entertainment.

The word 'game' is obviously now as misused as 'billion' - but that doesn't make it mathematics.....

The rebellion is already optional...so it doesn't need changing. The Barbarians are aggressive because, well, they were historically.

So it may be, but whats the culture penalty bonus?

Has it changed since version 1? and if so, is there any "nominal setting"..

Remember i play on hard/hard, and...its hard ,hard but fan...

I was perhaps rushing to fast!

As aboved post clearly emphasized steamrolling is not of the context of Rs 3.1 and im fully agree,
i hadnt played the game so far as to fully invaded Carthage and then concentrate at Greece/Macedon.

Carefully destroying thoose buildings that create rebellion, and reinstate a good old guvernours took
care of 99% of my rebellions, so that was that.

Barbarians should be a agressive.. yes, and thats fun, but not without gold-weapons, (Polybian Cohorts)
and even then, its a close match, but halfway (50%) invaded spain, and i must say,
Alex.exe is much more fun (/albeit BI is good too) but the diplomacy in Alex.exe actually work (Steam anthology) version,
and i hadnt any need to force diplomacy YET....)

1.Copy the content of Rome Total War Alexander
OBS! very important just the content not the folder!!!
2.Copy the files inte: Rome Total War Gold
    3.Overwrite everything when asked
    4.Install RS 2.5
    5.Install 3.0
    6.Overwrite 3.1 files fix

Done! start with steam enabled and alex.exe, dont forget to set the high-setting,
and dot disable the AA-setting, and enjoy your Empires finest hours...

YOU THEN CAN PLAY THE GAME EVERYWHERE AND ANYTIME,WHEN YOU
HAVE MOVED AND INSTALLED THE GAME RIGHT!
NO MORE LOGGIN IN TO STEAM IS NECESSARY!

I bought the STEAM-version anthology, alone for this kind of purpose,
needless to say i hate STEAM and bought it alone for RS.3.1
Uninstalled STEAM and are as happy as a bat..

Move the folder after installation away from C:/ to
somewhere else on the computer due to weird secure-rom behaviour.
Rename the folder to something more right to RS_3
    Dont forget the underscore "_ " =)

I have my games at documents works like a charm!!!

The referring 1% was due to Gaellic assains, that killed my governour!

Thas was a cool touch by the AI that it sends many assasins at my cities!...
I like it...now i have to revenge by sending 4 assasins back (and one spy to locate the assains themself)...

I am having installer problems: I havent played RTW since the original RomaSurrectum II version and am using a completely different PC. Does anyone know if there are known issues with Roma Surrectum and Wine for linux?

I am having a strange problem where the launcher isnt displaying any of the factions on the selectable list. I followed the directions of copying a vanilla version of the game, pasting it into a seperate directory, and then directing the launcher to install in the directory of the newly created RTW directory: This makes me think that there is some problem with the file tree even though it displays in Wine exactly as the example given in the 2.5 installer.

Is there something I am missing here? --I take it you all have phased out the 2.0 version being that I cant find it anywhere and rolled it into the 2.5 version. I have been out of the loop for a while, but I am excited to give your 3.0 version a stab. This game used to be something like a more advanced version or solitaire for me.

Played Rome H/H, one-turn - the game crashed with the following error message:

"Generic Error: Unable to allocate a texture for the UI. It is therefore impossible to open the UI display_open0 will fail gracefully."

Hi everyone, I need your help. I'm playing Cimbri. After 150 turns or so, I suddenly encountered a problem with marriages: if a man proposes to a woman from my clan, I cannot accept it. Doesn't matter if I say yes or no, the marriage doesn't happen. I tried it several times on the same guy, restarted the game in between tries, to no avail. It didn't happen before, is there any chance the bug is a one-time occurrence? Thanks in advance for anyreplies.

One must, of course, ask the over-arching question - are you running the script?

Did you run it each time you restarted in between tries? Did you run it every time you started playing before that?

I got the steam version of RTW & Alexander and RSII and RSIII won't work... can anyone help me out?

I tried following the instructions from that thread about RSIII, but when I click the launcher it says that things aren't probably installed so it won't even launch.
Next I tried to launch RSIII via Steam and Alexander using «-mod:play_Athens -show_err» (Was trying to play as Athens). Was able to launch the game, but when I tried to start a campaign it crashed.

I do not know your English to speak normally on it here. So what can this not remind.
I absolutely love this modification for the game. But because it is still in test mode, then I'll have to tell me what the problem has been seen in the game. By the way no normal site in Russian, where I could discuss all these questions in this writing right here.
I'm almost finished translating into Russian this modification, if someone will need, then I can give.

Shortly speaking. First -the biggest problem. When you play for the Roman republic there is no possibility to hire all kinds of foreign players, because they only appear in the list when viewed recruitment building barracks, but you can hire only one thing, then at the improvement of the building units disappear from employment. When you play for a fraction of Pergamum kingdom just disappear tureofory, but it is only one unit, and the Romans in Rome are generally only Praetorians and everything, but there flashed some different legionaries. The other Roman towns generally only peltasts, legates, and spies ships can be hired. Registered legions employed, although they are in the description of the building of the barracks. This makes the game impossible.
As for the translation, then for all the factions, for which I played everywhere all very simple, all suitable basic text files from the Data folder, but for Roman to do everything alone, there are completely different text files. This is strange.
Then there are a couple of questions about the boundaries of the provinces on the minimap at the bottom left. They are either there or not. For different states differently. Why they can not even turn off?
And the third question: why can not lay a long way on the strategic map in the management of the characters and armies? Why such a restriction, it is very uncomfortable to play.
Otherwise, everything is clear and operating correctly.
    Thank you for attention.

And one more thing, I almost forgot. I won the campaign for Pergamos, where there was constantly observed that the diplomacy of his life living without my participation. I didn't agree with anyone, but every step was a truce, a Declaration of war, what it did not depend on the fact that someone is allied with my ally, and because of this, it was like a truce with the enemy. I was not in the Union States. A truce themselves appeared, just like that. What sort of scripts themselves are not understand how they work, I don't want to know. View there as you get a chance. It was while playing for the Pergamon Kingdom. This does not make the game more interesting, I can't to capture someone. It's just a mess and all и всё.

Guys, quick question, how can i get the bloom to work, i select it in the launcher and i get the green writing at the top corner, however the screen just stays black while the game is running.
If you work to earn a living, why then do you work yourself to death?

IDK if this has been solved somewhere in this thread but:

So I was progressing through my Rome campaign almost entirely unhindered by CTD issues until now. I took Carthage a few turns ago and since then 3 large armies appeared in the vicinity (there was little sign of them when I scouted North Africa as most of there military was defending their territories in Spain from my advancing armies and various rebel groups, so they may have been spawned as a result of my capturing Carthage.

Anyway they lay siege for a couple of turns and then attack. However, due to the fact that there is a big gap in the wall that my onager made when I captured it, they abandon most of the siege equipment. Anyway, a few minutes in, I always get a CTD, I have tried three times and at roughly the same point I always crash.

seems like you engine can´t handle the number of units.
my suggestions is, to lower the graphics and test it again (you can later turn again to your normal setting)

That seems unlikely to me. I have played field battles with five or six full armies and of course it lags but never crashes. Also, the game isn't lagging much if at all. So I doubt it's that, but I'll try it.

EDIT: It really is the exact point every time, I just tried again and it's exactly the same point.
