Playing Sparta in the 1 turn campaign i saw that Greek towns have a duplicate 'greek culture' building in each of them (in hellas at least).

Are you sure about this? There are cities that have a 'medium_wealth' building, which is a treasury, and a 'medium_treasury' building, which is the culture building. And please post specific settlement names for me where you see this, because there is no settlement named 'hellas'.

Having an issue with battle CTD. Installed fresh RTW (no patches, though), installed BI, installed RS 2.5, then RS 3.0 beta, then the 3.1 patch. Then copied the alx.exe in the RS folder. Started a Roman campaign, everything ran smoothly until I tried to fight Hannibal. I get the following error: "The instruction at 0x00c35a74 referenced memory at '0x0000001c' ... The memory cannot be 'read'. Then the game crashes to desktop. Seems like some sort of generic error. I'm running Win XP, SP3. My PC specs are outdated, yet I had no problems with RS 2.6 whatsoever, especially with CTDs. I even tried running RS 2.6, which I kept (good decision, it seems) and I got no problem, so it's not a PC issue. I suppose I messed up the installation or something, but wouldn't that affect both the campaign map and battle map? Just seems weird to me. Any ideas, anyone?

    Is this the 'Play_One_Turn' campaign'?

Did you happen to change the vegetation quality in the Launcher? That will cause battle CTD's, as there is no longer an 'optional' vegetation except the older RS2.6 version. If so, re-install RSIII and the patch. That should fix it.

Why yes, I did. I had no idea this option was unavailable. So is there an option one could use to still have lower quality vegetation? (It was a major problem for my PC in densely forested areas in RS 2.6.) Also, why doesn't the team remove this option, since it's obsolete (and apparently game breaking)? Anyway, I'll try reinstalling tommorow. Thank you for the quick reply and for the awesome mod, of course!

I have to apologize for that....I did put a note in the download section for RSIII. The fellow who worked on the Launcher is no longer around, and although I have dabbled with it a bit...trying to learn how to modify it, I was afraid to mess with it too much for fear of breaking something. Plus, I just plain didn't think about that feature in releasing RSIII because the way the vegetation is set up now, if you reduce the vegetation quality 'in game' from high to medium, it does reduce the trees a LOT.

No need to apologize, I didn't see that note (maybe because of the excitement for RS III?) After the reinstall, if everything goes smoothly, I'll just reduce the vegetation quality as per your suggestion. Again, thank you and all the team for this gem of a mod!

Okay I did a fresh install and everything is fine. Although fog of war has been disabled. I can see every settlement and city on the map. Is this intended or a bug?

    Yeah that, uh, shouldn't happen.

Press ~ to open the rtw console and just put in "toggle_fow"

Yeah.....while working on RSIII, I realized that for every campaign you wanted to play, you had to make a new preferences file. That was annoying, so I included one in all campaigns that I felt was pretty 'generic' and would work for everyone...except for maybe the resolution settings. But, I forgot about FOW...since I always have it off for testing. So as Alavaria says, just turn it back on if you want.

Don't worry about it. It's an amazing update and so far it's kicking my ass. I breezed through on 2.6, but now i'm struggling to survive, which tells me it's going to be a fun time. Also I found out how to toggle it back on before Alvaria responded. Thank you for the help Alvaria and your response DVK. I don't post often, but thank you for all your hard work that went into this version of the mod.

I have played around 80 turns of almost every faction, 0 turn, 1 turn & swap faction and the recurring problem is pathfinding, with minor to major issues in settlements. Hillfort types have been the worst with enemy units riding up the embankments and walls trying to make a battle formation or gain entry back into the settlement. In city's I have had units merging with or coming through the walls of buildings. In field battles, depending on terrain and location, the issues are less but still irritating, unit break up especially pikes & phalanges, splitting into two groups and worse, occasionally units stringing out in single file or alternatively like an exaggerated loose formation. Also strung out single file on siege walls and taking forever to group because they split and run in opposite directions. Battering rams stuck on red border line and I cant deploy them, I have to start the battle to release them, the ram then moves at a 90% degree or similar angle to the unit. There have also been instances where the cavalry refuse to run down routers, refuse to go to certain areas on the battle map when in a mountainous or hilly region or often run in the opposite direction to where I sent them. I don't know if these are issues which can be sorted but I sincerely hope so, this is such a great mod otherwise. I have been using the BI exe, playing on vh/vh with unit size customized at 100 men on most occasions with settings on high except for unit & grass on medium, campaign & unit shadows unchecked.

EDIT: btw I have suffered almost no lag and still have not had any ctd since I unchecked event cutscenes which may just be coincidence I know, but never-the-less I thought I'd mention it .

I am having problems while trying to download RSIII from MEGA. "Bandwith limit". It goes well until it's almost over (70-80%), and it doesn't save... when the time limit they gave me to download another file or continue download is over, I have to download from the beggining again, and the same bandwith limit problem occurs... again. Any help?
EDIT: MEGA actually downloaded, but when it started to transfer to my PC, Google Chrome said "FAIL - Busy Sytem" (translated from "Falha - Sistema Ocupado" right on the end of the transfer). I lost the account of times I tried downloading this RSIII update.

I've received this error when loading a battle agaisnt a spartan army.

Spoiler Alert, click show to read:

Looks like a simple error: a missing texture on the spartan side, which is weird since i've played before as sparta and had no issues with the phalangite units. This enemy stack had only 2 of those units, the levy one and the mid tier spartan phalangite.

Weird. I have fixed it in the update, but to fix it yourself, copy that file from the 'Tone\Macedon' folder into the 'sparta' folder under models_units. See if that fixes it.

Thanks for your ever fast reply dvd, it is much appreciated. I just had the same error for my Pergamon 1 turn campaign and remembered reading it on the forum. I have the update installed, and it's the first CTD I've had playing over 200 turns - another compliment to the RS3 team!

So I copied the file (pandotaipoi_phalangites_macedon.tga.dds) from Tone and added it to

    E:\Games\Rome Total War\data\models_unit

I cannot find the models_units map anywhere else. I guess it's because of the 1 turn.

[forgot to save after a turn with a ton of battles, will post result later]

Hello there, I've been playing as the Romans and it's been awesome . I defeated the second rebellion, my FL became the Imperator and it was all going swimmingly. He's died and now my empire appears to have reverted to being a republic, the new FL didn't become Imperator and the Imperium counters have appeared again on my Legatus'. What may have caused the problem is that I selected a different heir so I had two Caesars when the Imperator died. Any feedback would be welcome.

Edit: On a hunch I moved the new FL back to Roma and that fixed the issue, maybe an in game hint or something about it in the encyclopedia would be helpful for future reference.
