Maybe I should attache savegame for investigation if you interested?
I can't explain why that would make any difference. That building is built in multiple cities when the Circus Maximus is built in Rome. If it was an issue, every city would CTD like Genoa.

Do you have Patch 3.1? Because I fixed some stuff in the background script for the Romans....and yes, please upload a saved game.

No, pure 3 beta. But if you only change something with Garrisons it doesn't matter. No Garrisons where used.

And I sized another settlements with same method. Free People Eburodunon, Greek Surakousai - no CTD. Carthage Carthage - CTD. It seems to be something with Carthage settlements, constructed buildings or faction generaly. No CTD in campaning begining. I must mention Carthage occupy Caralis for some time.

Are there any differences between playing Alex and RTW/BI version?
I'm playing Alex on steam, and no problems so far.

To some extent, yes. If you want 'shieldwall' then you need BI. Alex was the last and latest version of the software and AI; iif you are using Hoplites/Pikes then it's probably the best. I also believe it was 'best' for Amphibious invasions - but am not positive about that. Against that, Alex was particularly tweaked for its time period and more restricted campaign.

Overall I prefer BI - all my Roman testing was conducted on BI - and I believe it to be slightly better overall on the larger campaign scale. But if playing on of the 'Greek'ish' factions, Alex could be best/better - more tweaked?
"RTW/RS VH campaign difficulty is bugged out (CA bug that never got fixed) and thus easier than Hard so play on that instead" - apple

RSII 2.5/2.6 Tester and pesky irritant to the Team. Mucho praise for long suffering dvk'.

Very interesting, I just tried it out with RTW+BI and I saw that there are "Shieldwall" and "Infantry wedge" formation, but oddly "Infantry wedge" is not working.
Thanks for the info, I will play RTW+BI from now on.

Steam user here. Copied the contents of Alexander folder to a new one (RSIII). Installed RS 2.5, then RS III and finally the 3.1 patch. On attempt to run it from the launcher on desktop i get "RS has not been correctly installed. Please make sure you followed the instructions". What should i do ?

You dont use the application on the desktop, go into your Alex folder where RS3 is installed and look for the "Launcher" folder. In there look for the "Roma Surrectum II" application and run that. If it works and it should delete the application on the desktop and just create a duplication of that application in the launcher.

Did you check the properties in the shortcut to make sure it isn't pointed at 'UI\wonders'. You'll get that error otherwise.

Ok so, I tried to play newly added Athens campaign and I saw that Spartan faction is not there. Greek City-States are in possession of the city of Sparta. Is that how it should work?

    Yes it is.

When playing with an individual Greek City-State - Athens, Massalia, Syracuse - the Spartan faction is replaced and in turn "join" the general greek faction

No i did not, even with not running it with i reinstalled RS2.5 and RS3 to a different folder and copied them to where i had my clean install of rome total war and now it runs very smooth, the campaign map or the battles so i guess my problem was some corrupt file in the previous installation.

The installers seem to have a problem. The old 2.5 installer installed its files to a folder called "/data" and the new installer for 2.5 installs to "/Data" while the RSIII and III.I installers both point to "/data" still.

I was unable to get the game to launch as a result. Copying the contents of the /data folder containing the installed files of RSIII and III.I to /Data and renaming the /Data folder to /data allowed normal gameplay with, seemingly, no crashes.

Is there a submod for RS starting at a later date, after the Marian reforms? I don't enjoy the romans as much, to play them 100 turns until the reforms hit, so i can get my hands on the Numbered legions. I could force the reforms via cheats, but i would rather not.

That was fixed in the small patch (3.1) I uploaded. Unfortunately, that was a map error, so it's not save game compatible.

Just curious why does the Roman 'building' Tribal Justice give +5% happiness and not +5% law? I love it to see how conquered cities are happier when I impose Roman justice to them .
