Need help choosing cities to add to campaign map

History buffs please read on... I've been searching wikipedia all weekend trying to supplement my poor knowledge of what unrepresented settlements were important enough to add to the game. Finding maps of medieval England and Spain were easy enough but now I'm stuck in central Europe and the Balkan states. I've got about fifty settlement slots free before the arbitrary settlement limit kicks in and crashes the game. The Arabian and Persian cities are done and in the game and I'm pretty sure I'm finished with Russia and Poland. I'm hoping that three additional settlements per faction will give me enough free slots to spare.

Bananas,

May I be so bold as to suggest that you reconsider the cities or settlements you have put in. I have a some books that I could give you the names of which will have more than sufficient accounts of what cities were prosperous and at what time. For example, Bukhara in central asia was a hub of cultural diveristy and trade until it was razed by Genghis however this was in the early part of the 13th century. So you have to ask your self should this be included on the map or not? (as it was a great city by all standards during the start of the game yet was insignificant by the middle to end part of the game)

I had the intention of leaving the cities that were destroyed by the Mongols in so that when the horde does arrive there is a conflict there (I have yet to tinker with the script that spawns them so that they don't show up in Russia/Asia Minor automatically but have to pillage their way from Kharkand to the current starting point). If only cities could downgrade into obscurity when an invader exterminates them rather than being left with a map full of Huge Cities. But yeah, there are cities in the list that were made unimportant because of the Mongol invasions and some that were made important. I'd like the names of any books or online resources that might have more detailed information than wikipedia though. Thanks

I would use Marco Polo and Ibn battutahs books, together they cover a vast expanse of land from europe to china, with very detailed descriptions on cities, regions and peoples. I'm sure you should be able to get online links to it if you google it. Nice selection of cities by the way

2 deRougemont - im shocked - Mähren (moravia ) is in poland?

2 bananas - looks great, but can you add Bohemia -Olomouc?
(example, Prague,Olomouc and Brno) (its more historical accurate)
