This Mod is awesome... I love it and I play on a lap top, where I play with lowest number of units, all low graphics, and everything lags like crazy!

Want to get a great new computer any body have any personal experience with Digital Storm PC's?

Also will CA every make the game Fully Mod Friendly ?

Thanks, what about a high end gaming laptop? can you actuallly get desktop performance out of laptops? or is that just sales and marketing claims?

If you want to experience this game at ultra unit and graphic sizes (i recommend large unit sizes for better pathfinding ) you need to invest a bit.

It depends on your budget.. a high end budget will feature a I7 Broadwell or better yet the 6th gen I7 ARK processor. Rome 2 is very CPU demanding. After that you need at least 8GB or better yet 16 GB of RAM. For a graphics card I recommend NVDIA 970GTX or 980 ti. It should be enough, you don't need SLI it's mostly overkill. It also has compatibilty issues sometimes.

If you are on a tighter budget you should prioritise like this CPU > RAM > GPU. That does'nt mean to ignore the GPU much, but you should make that extra dime effort on the CPU first. It's mostly the CPU that bottlenecks when judging equal quality hardware. A I5 5th or 6th gen is a good choice with at least 900 seriesNVIDIA. At least DDR3 GRAM on GPU highly recommended

Careful to get adequate power source and cooling system. Also, some hardware producers are better than others.. I am not familiar with who is on top now but a lite research will give you better performng and longer lifespan hardware.

Kinda off topic but on the topic of lag, why does DeI lag so much on the grand map? I get better FPS in the actual battles then I do just moving my armies about and building my cities. Seems like it is backwards.

I haven't experienced lag on the campaign map. Are you using any other mods?

Only sub mods for DeI. 12 year per turn, and no PO hit for garrisoned troops. Don't see how they would effect FPS. But I get like 15-20 FPS on the map, and like 60ish during a battle unless it's competently nut or a walled city battle, they drop to like 30.

You can get good performance from a laptop. I use one right now, since I need a computer I can carry with me when traveling. The only real problem is overheating - most laptops overheat more easily than a desktop.

first off, yeah this mod is most awesome !
You should defenitely get the submod that reduces the variety of armor, theres still variety left and it gives a good ammount of performance increase

Iam on a third gen i5 overclocked to 4.6 ghz with 8 gb DDR3 and run the game on max unit size with unit details and textures set to ultra, i trade that off with shadows to medium.
I can get more than 40 FPS in most battles even zoomed in.

as for laptop versus stationary id strongly suggest going for a normal PC if you do your gaming mostly in the same place
Get latest gen i5 unlocked + some decent gpu (dont need to overkill it on there), get a solid CPU cooler (air does fine) and overclock it. like that you should get pretty strong performance for a reasonabel price.
U could even consider going for a 4th gen i5 + good mobo second hand, the difference between those i5's is really very small. will run you all other games perfect and TW almost as good

    greetings
