Testify is an oft forgotten video and single by RATM from the Battle of LA, often eclipsed by Sleep Now in the Fire and Guerrilla Radio by those looking back on the bands singles. The video however, is easily my favourite, particuarly because it perfectly describes my feelings towards British politics - that the leading parties have sold us out to policies that are for all intents the same in all but language. Great video.
Rage Against The Machine : Sleep Now in the Fire
Yes! Civil disobedience! A brilliant song and a brilliant video. A relentless assault on consumerism, corporations and capitalism, while also taking to task certain military endevours in the past and the weapons used in them. As for the video : pure brilliance from Rage - firstly the bulk of the footage, filmed by Michael Moore, shows the band playing in front of the New York Stock Exchange. The band managed to play through the song 6 times before the police came in and broke the crowds up, which by this time were becoming quite extensive! The NYSE was forced to close 2 and a half hours early. Think of the money!
Also - how on earth did this lose to Break Stuff in the Music Awards? Its a crap video for a crap song. By a crap band.
Renegades of Funk : Rage Against the Machine (Afrika Bambaataa cover)
I can't say I've heard the original, but I love this video, combining various film clips, of rap, funk and hip-hop music and Civil Rights movements, along with a few images of their "Renegades". It fits perfectly with the music.
Rage Against the Machine : People of the Sun
Referencing various offensive conquests or occupations of nations in the past as being repeated again and again, People of the Sun is another attack on hostile foreign policy.
MC5 : Kick out the James
Finally! A break from the Rage. Here's the MC5's Kick out the James. It seems I mostly break from the classic rock era love that we have in the TWC. I absolutely love the MC5 though; although strictly speaking are more Proto-Punk. But still, they're from the 60s, and that has to count for something!
The Smashing Pumpkins - 1979
You knew it would happen! There's no way this thread is escaping my Pumpkins love. Not only is 1979 a heartfelt song, but it also came equipped with an award winning video, acclaimed by the media and fans alike.
The Smashing Pumpkins - Try, Try, Try
I find the one of the greatest travesties in the Pumpkins career, was that this video was largely written off, by, well everyone! In the usual Pumpkin the video tries to tell a story - this time of the lives of the homeless, heroin afflicted lives of a couple on the streets of a city in Sweden (the name of which escapes me!) Its a poignant message, of a problem that afflicts people around the world.
The Smashing Pumpkins - Zero
As brutally murdered by bands such as Evanescence, and a video of which ripped off for its artistic substance by Panic at the disco, Zero is a Pumpkins classic - there's no huge message in the video really, but the cinematography and artistic flair is great.
The Smashing Pumpkins - Cherub Rock (Live Acoustic)
There's no real video interest I guess really, but its an interesting cover of Cherub Rock non-the-less!
A Perfect Circle - Imagine (John Lennon Cover)
A travesty or a triumph? You decide. Some people can't stand this cover of Imagine, which I tend to think eclipses Lennon's original. This is the mood I get from the song's lyrics, so I tend to think the music fits them better in my eyes. I'm sure the Beatle fans will have an opinion!
Imagine - John Lennon
I though a bit of a comparison would go down nicely, so heres the Lennon version, which is like, but I do prefer the APC version admittedly.
A Perfect Circle - Judith
Back to APC. I'm not a huge fan of performance videos - there's not so much to them as seeing a band trying to fit a mini movie into the songs context. Judith on the other hand, I tend to think has a strong performance video - I think it captures the power of the song. Its moody.
A Perfect Circle - The Outsider
A brilliant video. Nothing like beautiful women indulging in civil disobedience. 2:30 in. Hilarious. I laughed my ass off the first time I saw it. I also suggest you search for the uncensored version. Its even better. But I didn't link it due to excessive swearing, and I guess ON wouldn't want that :hmmm:
The Prodigy - Firestarter
Can you say classic?
Muse - Knights of Cydonia
So far, my favourite music video of the year. A lot of fans like it, others loathe. I love it. Its got a simple comic charm to it. I mean, come on! Cowboys, robots, lazer guns and that damn hilarious eagle! Whats not to like.
This shall have to do for now! I've spent nearly an hour doing this :hmmm:

I really like APC's version of Imagine. Their other covers on eMOTIVe aren't that good though IMO.
And your muse video links to Firestarter...

Freaking amazing rendition of "Isn't it a Pity" by Billy Preston (RIP) at the Concert for George (RIP as well)
