Default EBII (v2.1b) for Mac ALMOST works--but not for battles

I finally was able to get EBII v2.1b to run on my Mac Air last night. Cue celebration. I used Wine to run the .exe installer, and by and large, it works. Loading saves, and ending each turn, is very slow (about a minute for loading saves and 45 seconds to end a turn). More importantly, though, I get a fatal error (Error Code=361) whenever I try to fight on the battle map.

I think I'm using bordered windowless mode, and that my file structure is alright, but I'm not sure. I'm attaching four files: my file structure, the EBII.cfg, a screenshot of the error message, and a copy of the log.

Does anybody know what might be going on here? I'd really appreciate any help!

Yeah I have the same exact problem as you do. Whenever I try to load a battle, either on the campaign map or a custom battle, the game crashes and gives me Error Code=361.

I can't read anything from the log, it's not the one generated by the game itself. I have no idea how it works on Mac but some Windows users have reported that their game crashes on the battle map when it's installed in a different directory than the mods/ebii folder.

Here's my games crash report hope it helps.

Nope, it's not the one I was looking for. The correct one is mods\EBII\logs\eb.system.log.txt, but since you're using Mac I don't know if this file even exist.

Yeah, unfortunately it doesn't exist. I have no idea why it keeps crashing though.

There was an issue with linux users the fix was to do this 'To avoid the crash you need to copy no_banner.mesh from share/data/mods/ebii/data/banners to share/data/data/banners (yes outside of the mod's folder).'. I am not sure whether this is even applicable in any way whatsoever to your crash or problem however I do have a suggestion.

Use a process monitoring tool to find the file (or lack of one) causing the crash. From there, you can likely work out a solution to your problem.

Yep this did the trick with a few slight modifications! I found no_banner.mesh from medieval2data/mods/ebii/data/banners then you must remove it from that folder and place it on your desktop for the time being. The next step is to go to medieval2data/data here you have to create a new folder and title it banners (because one doesn't exist). Then put no_banner.mesh into this new folder and you should be all set to go. It is important that you do not merely copy no_banner.mesh and place it in the new banners folder or else it will not work. You must take it out of the original banners folder and place it into the one you have just created. Hope this solves your problem OP!

NOTE: This only fixes battles fought on the field, siege battles still crash for some reason.

EBII has custom settlements, feral interactive only accounted for vanilla settlements. Try moving the settlements to your desktop.

Sorry if I'm being dense here, but when you say "moving the settlements," which file(s) are you talking about, specifically?

You can find it under medieval2data/mods/ebii/data near the bottom of the list. I tried it out and siege battles now work for me as well as land battles, so unless you have any other problems you should be all set!

Hello. Using 2.2n here on mac os Sierra.

moving no_banner.mesh helped - non-siege battles work ok

but siege battles crash upon start no matter what I tried:
    either removing Medieval2Data/mods/ebii/data/settlements/
    or moving it to Medieval2Data/data/

    Will you please help me?

Is this a new problem with 2.2n? I use mac os (El Capitan) on steam and have not had issues in a while but am still on 2.2m. I rarely do siege attacks (I generally wait them out or auto-resolve), but often defend sieges.

No, not new to 2.2n. Same for 2.2m.
I installed EBII yesterday for the first time and haven't started a campaign yet. I probe the stability by starting any custom battle with a town/city/fortress. And I always get a crash.

Well I just did a test with my set-up (still 2.2m) playing the Rome campaign on H/M and was able to successfully besiege Taras on turn 2. I don't use the custom battle feature so maybe that's the issue. FYI both the file "no_banner_mesh" and the folder "Settlements" are on my desktop.

Thanks for the good point. EBII doesn't crash for me if besieging from grand campaign map. Whew... Now I finally can start playing

By the way, this sophisticated how-to describes, how to actually fix the settlements, leaving them in game, not deleting them.
