    Default Latin Kingdom Mini-Mod

I have an idea for a mod to include the Latin Kingdom of Jerusalem into M2TW as a playable faction and represent the wars in the Middle East. The Latin Kingdom of Jerusalem was a major player in the region at the time, and fighting over it has been the cause of many of the wars between Christians and Muslims.

    What this mod will do:
Advance the timeline to 1099 AD.
Add the Kingdom of Jerusalem as a playable faction with a unique unit list.

    Sounds cool.

I take it you will have Antioch as a separate faction... they didn't exactly see eye to eye with Jerusalem.

yeah didn't Antioch fight for the Muslims or something? I remember reading something way back in High School about how a Christian City changed sides and fought for the Muslims, only to be massacred by Crusaders.

I need to break my old text books out.

All we need is a skinner, a mapper, and a good text editor (I can do some) and we're good...

About the Kingdom of Antioch, yea, lets add Jerusalem first, then we can go for the rest of the Outremer, and if we get ambitious, some of the Arab states that are there and maybe Armenia...

whats the text editor do? If it involves editing for grammar and such, I'd volunteer for that duty.

oh ok. Don't you need the unpacker for that, or actually i'm pretty sure for all of the modding.

Basically the goal is to add another faction to the 21 factions...

I'm thinking the Kingdom of Jerusalem will have 5 different types of units:

Outremer Nobility: Purchased in Castles, these represent the Christian nobles who have settled here and their retainers. Will have small unit sizes but possibly high morale.

Christianized Arabs and Turks: Purchased in Castles, these represent the Arabs and Turks who have been converted (through the sword most likely) to the Catholic faith. They include light infantry and the Turcopole horse archers.

Military Order: Soldiers who have joined one of the monastatic orders. Besides the major two orders, soldiers from the minor orders will be purchasable (simply called Minor Order _______ ). This will not only include Knights, but Sergeants (mounted) and foot soldiers too. Purchased in Castles.

    Militia: Same as the rest.

European Nobility: European nobles and their retainers looking to make a fortune in the Holy Land. Same as their equivalents in Europe, but purchased in cities.

Actually, Antioch could just as well be under the aegis of the Kingdom of Jerusalem, as many areas of the Turks, HRE or France are represented as being. If not moreso.

The King in Jerusalem was actually accepted as Antioch's overlord the vast majority of the time. And members of their own family (daughters, grandsons) often held it. The Kings of Jerusalem were also the main arbiters of succession.

I would argue for the Principality of Antioch being a seperate faction from the KOJ BUT a kind of permanent vassal... once vassals are fixed in M2TW of course.

Maybe just name the faction "Outremer" and use that to represent all four kingdoms, that way it is a viable faction?
