    Default Emergence factions in 1.2

    I was wondering if it were possible for emergence factions like those of AE were a possibility in the 1.2 update, I like emergence factions as it allows you to establish allies by setting up puppets from other cities. It would also provide rebelling cities to exist further areas from Coesentia would not be Romans rebelling, but the Lucani natives discontent with Roman rule and trying to free themselves from what they see as tyranny. It also brings immersion by having liberatory campaigns such as Hannibal's or have Media bring back the old governments of the East. I would understand if this is not feasible but I think it would add much to the game if this were included in base DEI.

    Dresden has already planned to take a look at what can be done with emergant factions in the next "major" update. I agree that it's a wonderful feature if feasable.

    I think we will most likely be both using the IA campaign map and having emergent factions for 1.2. I have been busy with 1.15 so I haven't had time to start on that at all really.

    Would the emergent factions also be available for the mini-campaigns excluding Makedonian wars, I find it hard to rally Italy and Gaul against Rome when I can only claim that land as mine in HatG.

    What do you Guys plan on doing with the IA map?
    Use it like the Grand Campaign or maybe some sort of Macedonian Wars-style overhaul?
    Roman civil wars era would be interesting, about from Marius to Caesar^^
    Maybe every established Province could be a faction of its own? Like a Satrapy of the Seleucids^^

    Emergent factions would be awesome!

    Well, I think we have multiple plans actually. First would be to redo the Grand Campaign with the IA map, like Ancient Empires has done. This would probably include the emergent faction idea. They have a lot of great ideas in their submod and they have been very generous in helping us and giving us access to those things.

    The other idea would eventually be either redoing the IA campaign itself or having various campaign scenario submods.

    Yeah, that would be great. Their revamp of Eastern Mediterranean completely changes campaign development:
    Macedon now stands as the Hellenistic nation, involved in all squabbles in Hellas, rather than being forever bogged down in Thrace;
    Egypt actively participates in Aegean conflicts, instead of the impotent Sardes;
    Pergamon no longer builds 'sausage' empires from Bythinia to Atropatena (almost always happen in my campaigns) and other things.

    Would you recommend starting a new campaign with 1.15 and the population mod right now Dresden or is it better to wait for 1.2?
    Maybe Caesar in gaul could be done in time, until 1.2 is ready?!
    Cheers mate

    I would think you would have enough time to paint the map your factions color before we get like 100 new factions and the map completely shifted, along with 2 new faction rosters (Media and Meroe.) Although I am looking forward to Ethiopia being playable or at least having a decent roster.

    1.2 won't be anytime soon. 1.15 still has a ways to go before it will be released, so there is plenty of time for campaigns.

    I am not sure what you mean by Caesar in gaul being done? Do you mean with the population system?

    Thanks for the reply Dresden.

    I meant finishing a Caesar in Gaul Campaign in time before 1.2 will be released, since it's a quicker campaign than let's say the Grand Campaign or the IA Campaign.

    you will be also able to finish a grand campaign, 1.2 will take a few month's to be complete - we need to create a lot of stuff to surprise our fans and to be on top of 1.1

    Can't wait!

    On a side note Ritter, any chance you guys will every look at re doing the legionarii to make them look more late republican (a la Kaziels latest, and most likely dead, mod)? I think Leonardo the Great is also starting to make some early republican ones that look similar to Kaziel's?

    Maybe there are some plans to make a campaign that is a bit more later game. For example the time period of the Year of the five emperors?

    I may look like someone dumb, but what are emergent factions? And what changes will they incorporate into the mode? I just wamt to know, what are the plans for 1.2 since I have a wonderful caimpaign even now, with 0.8 beta and KAM's experimental battle packs. :-)

    In general, emergent faction is one that is not present at the start of the game. It emerges later, via some scripts.
    In AE submod there is an emergent faction for each region in the world. It can appear in the form of region rebels and can be later engaged in diplomacy, like all other factions. It can also be liberated, even iin the homeland regions of starting factions. I take it as a soft kind of subjugation, when you exile all your opponents and install fiendly government. But it sure could look very different in DeI.

    Not always scripts. They could be as simple as liberating a faction that starts not on the campaign field, but is still in the assigned spot for a city. For instance, in early DeI, even after the etruscans and nova carthago were removed from the map, both factions could be liberated back into the campaign map even though they were never there from the start.
