    Icon5 Looting / Sacking - Player benefits

    Hey all,

I did search for a thread on this topic but found nothing. I was wondering if a conversation had been had (im sure it has) about the post seizing a settlement victory options. Mainly 'Loot' and 'Sack'.

I have not played the game in a while and there has been loads of absolutely amazing work put in to make the game play so well, I am in a new campaign as the Selucids.

If i 'loot' a settlement, i get a good amount of financial reward, occupy the place and then have to spend almost all of that money on repairing the buildings damaged by looting - this kind of makes the option useless for me.

If i 'sack' a settlement, something that i use strategically often, to create border territories - the financial reward is meagre.

The good thing is, i only feel like this because it is actually so hard to capture territory at times, defeating a standing army and a garrisoned army, especially in the desert in the Summer, requires a lot of resource and forward planning. (which is great and shows how well thought out this mod is.)

is anyone able to explain / offer some suggestions as to what i can do?

Sacking and looting are great ways to make money, actually. You have the downside of having worse PO problems when you take over, though. I know many players will sack and then loot a city to double up.

DeI has changed the occupation options to add more diversity to them. For example, razing doesn't have any PO issue but you start over.

Hmm, I´d actually get rid of the PO-malus for looting, since the whole population gets enslaved anyway, doesn´t it?
How could they be dissatisfied in their own settlement if they were forced to do labour somewhere else?

Also, what´s the rationale behind looting giving more money than sacking?
Wouldn´t the population be enslaved also?
Maybe selling the conquered lands to civilians?

    Best regards

Sacking and consequently looting is the most rewarding scenario (financially), especially in the situations, when you conquer region with different culture and useless buildings (at least for your faction). In such case, you can simply encash money from such action and then dismantle the buildings.

All captives are killed when you sack while all captives are enslaved when you loot a settlement. If you have researched enough tech or hold a slave resource town, looting yields more money due to the increased economic effect across your regions while limiting happiness malus. Ideally you capture all of Thrace or Arabia Felix (or both) and build the level 4 town in the slave resource to give -40% slave unrest across your empire.
If you wait till the last minute, it only takes a minute.

Once my cash flow is sufficient, I mostly raze so PO stays high and my armies can move on.

Hey guys, could you tell me how to edit the consequences of occupation options?
