Yeah, fan-art is no big deal - i used alot of fanart to fill out missing general portraits for the Game of Thrones submod in decembre. Not every general or family member had shown up in the TV-show, so i used google as my friend and added cool looking fans who had dressed up convincingly for certain characters such as most of the Tyrell's and Victarion Greyjoy as an example. You can't really get permission for every picture taken from google - some of which has been there for ages.

Also, you don't need permission to download them from google. You just right click and save.. It's an honor to be a general in a M2TW mod anyway - and the fan art is no different.

Sulfurion: Yes, i thought so but was a little confused because you added so many names i thought maybe you had added far more generals then expected.

120 is like five to ten each?

Hmm, I guess a disclaimer saying that the art " belongs to the original artists" or something is good enough.

I was actually joking about how asking permission is unnecessary, it is always nice to ask. But it is indeed unrealistic to do so for pieces of art which have been around for years, when using them in a non-profit manner, especially if said art is already spread out all throughout the internet.

The first two links do not work - also, i would prefer a more animated look.

If by first 2, you mean the ones under "shandris", the first wasnt a link at all I accidentally put extra spoilers, and the second one worked fine for me but I edited it anyway so tell me if it shows now.

Also what do you mean by "more animated" ?
If you can give me a visual example it is gonna be great help.

No, pictures under "Shandris" do not show. It is a placeholder under the second one stating "hotlinking is stealing" etc. Seems they don't want you to link to those pictures.

By animated i mean the portraits i already put in game as well as those Eoghan already put into it. Like WC3 pictures but better quality.

I don't think it fits with different art taken from different places on the internet. Better with one style for all.

Here is the Shandris picture, hope it shows now.

I cant really see the portraits in the game as my PC is broken at the time and will take a while
Can you post one or 2 to give me an idea ?

I agree that they should have similar artstyle but since there is limited amount of them I take what I can find.

Welcome back Happycrusader! Mr_Nygren, i could try to do the steam tank. Also, the idea that you posted, Happycrusader, is great but someone should explain how it works: it is an application to install? or it is web based? Does it work with XP? (yes i still use an XP for modding...)

Cool, i'll send you the textures for it then. By the way, my win-XP can't enter the internet anymore because of withdrawn support for the system. How is it you can access the internet from your Win-XP?.

You need to install the following:
    Git : https://git-for-windows.github.io/
Git extension for versioning large file types: https://git-lfs.github.com/

I found this note about XP compatibility: https://git-for-windows.github.io/requirements.html
You might be able to get away with it on XP. If that doesn't work, do you have a newer system you could use just for submitting the files?

With git, everyone has a complete copy of the mod files and there is another copy hosted on a server. In this case that server is on gitlab (free tier gives 10GB which should be enough for now). People work on their local files and then 'push' their changes up to the server. Others can then do a 'pull' from the server to update their local files. The repository is set to private so you need to make a gitlab account and PM me with your email so I can give you access.

Mr_Nygren, I think you should have access now, let me know if you still can't get at the repo files.

I downloaded them two times, one time as a .zip-file and one as a .tar-file - but only the text-files could be opened in notepad. The pictures/portraits give me an error no matter how i try to open them up. And the mod itself CTD:s at start-up. Seems to not work.

Just a quick question regarding characters, do you think that I should put certain characters that are 'missing' at the time of Warcraft 3 but that are important later on? Like, for instance, Garrosh Hellscream, Dranosh Saurfang and Danath Trollbane? (all of whom would appear later in Outland). Because otherwise they would not appear at all, but at the same time it would be weird.

Yea,like Nygren said,it's not a big deal. For the sake of gameplay I doubt anyone will mind the anachronisms

I have now reached the 502 limit of units in the EDU, and the problem is i can't just remove units as some of the vanilla units are still in files such as descr_strat, rebel_factions and the EDB etc. If i remove the wrong unit i won't be able to enter the game as it will CTD.

I can remove one by one and test after each time but it takes more time. I guess i will do this this evening but i am looking forward to your update Sulfurion because when you are done i will erase all vanilla units from all the files so that we get free space for more units and siege engines.

Files i am and have been modifying:

    1. Animation files.

    2. EDU.

    3. EU.

    4. descr_engine.

    5. descr_projectile.

    6. descr_mount.

    7. BMDB.

    8. UI/Units and UI/Units_Info.

Files i will modify now to free up space:

    1. EDU & EDB.

Does it matter much if i touch the descr_strat and remove the vanilla units? I could compare yours with mine later and add your changes to mine while still keeping my own changes i think. The only changes i will do is remove the vanilla units.

Yeah go ahead, I have been putting the new generals on purpose with only the bodyguards, so it should be a simple thing for you to replace those bodyguards that still use the vanilla units.

Although mind you that the factions that need units done will still need to use them as placeholders, like the Night Elves, Legion, etc.
