Default Quick N00b Guide: Recommended Sys & Version

    Hey guys,

I resolved not to buy another TW game until a really cool mod came out, and DeI looks like the one!

I tried to find some basic info, can you help?

Recommended Sys Req (I run a Macbook Pro Retina with a Windows 10 partition - wondering if it will run!)

Version. I intend to buy the Emperor Edition on Steam. Is that the one to get?

Thanks to all the modders for their work and forum members for their input and testing - this will be my first TW game in 5 years...!

    Cheers,
    MM

Yes you need the Emperor edition from steam. Then you can go through the different DLC's and see if any of these look interesting. Keep in mind that a lot of factions need you to own the appropriate DLC.
As to you playing on a MacBook. There are still some problems as to getting mods to work since MacBooks are odd in that way.

Thanks - I actually run a separate partition with a Win10 boot on the Macbook so it *should* just run like a Win10 notebook with decent capabilities.

Is there a wiki on DeI to see what's different from Vanilla?

That's pretty epic! I'm guessing there's no need to play Vanilla to see the basic game mechanics?

Only if you want to feel your heart ripped out and spit on then stomped on for the lack of a game in vanilla compared to the original vanilla rome 1.

When you make the transition from Vanilla to DeI it will feel like an entirely new game, so you wont really learn anything. Just jump right in and play DeI with an easy faction like Rome. Then when you got a feeling for how the different mechanics work, especially the supply system and the new beta feature People of Rome (a manpower system) and then you can advance to more challenging factions like Epirus.

Yeah, it is good idea to just take a faction like Rome or Egypt, play on medium for 20-30 turns to learn the ropes and then start proper campaign

Thanks guys. @KAM 2150 I just watched your battle preview video on YouTube for v1.1 - I found myself agreeing on most of what you said!

It's of course a coincidence but I play a few wargames and Poles always seem to be among the top experts! If you play Hearts of Iron you will know who I am referring to.
