Baggage Trains

How exactly do these work for civilized factions? Do I need more than one or only one. Do baggage trains not provide any supply at all for civilized factions, only reducing their consumption?

You only need 1 if I remember. When an army is out of supplies or about to go into attrition, they give the army extra turns before that happens.
