Default friendly cAI is constantly chilling in my regions?

First of all an obligatory paragraph to thank everyone for this awesome mod. It's certainly a great improvement over the vanilla experience. I'd guess this took (and still takes) many hours of your time so you probably enjoy doing it, but I'd also guess you also enjoy your creation being praised, so here it is, it's awesome.

That said, I'm getting pretty annoyed by my friendly (non-agression/military alliance/access) neighbors. The minimum guaranty of non-agression from me is enough for them to start parking their armies in my provinces in defense standing. This happens no matter if I'm at peace, at war or at war with a set target for them, they just stand there jacking it for the most part (some turns they change the position like 3 units to one side and park again). I'm a recent player in this mod so I don't know if it is because of the food system or what but I've never seen this happening in vanilla (by "this" I mean "standing in my area doing nothing", the fact they don't help with war targets is a vanilla problem too).

Also, can you enlighten me on why do certain factions declare war on me despite them being far away and having only 1 coastal province whilst I'm way bigger? (eg.: Rhodos just did this to me on a Sparta campaign) I don't know up to what point you can modify diplomacy (I guess if you could you would have already edited it) but it would be really cool to see more modifiers of opinion that would make the cAI react differently (eg.: "Wants your cities: Sparta, Athens (-20)", "Has smaller army than you (+5)", "Longtime friend (+0.5 per turn)", etc).

    Cheers.

You don't have to praise us to criticize

I have seen some other players say that the CAI in regions is indeed an issue. I think this comes about from using alliances/diplomacy a lot with nearby factions. Having friends near you, they tend to use your regions and mooch off your supplies From what I remember (I will have to recheck) our CAI settings have allied targets set pretty high, but I know that is somewhat of an issue in the game itself.

The AI declaring war at range can sometimes happen, although we haven't edited those settings much from vanilla. If you edit those settings (like in the hardcore submod, for example) you will see some weird things sometimes. The AI will declare war, ask for peace, declare war again etc. But, anyway, Rome 2 itself is a bit of a sandbox/random element game. Every campaign has various different occurrences. You can reload an end turn and sometimes get one diplomatic offer, sometimes multiple, sometimes none.

I have an idea why AI might be hanging in your regions. When they don't have any ongoing war or at least big ones, they kind of protect your territories since you are friendly to them and they think they are more than safe from any attacks to their own lands. Same time they not gonna go too far away from their borders to fight your enemies because they think it's gonna be too far away to get back home.

What I really dislike about this behaviour is that they can march half way through your big empire to support you to fight someone and then change their mind in a midway and go back and then keep on going forward to the target and then start to go back again over and over and then winter or summer starts and poor generals start to slowly lose their men from attrition. I would say this happens pretty often.
