Apocalypto

Anyone seen it yet, i'm deciding between this and casino royale.

Is it any good?

I plan to go see it pretty soon. But.. I think it would ROCK.

Ok.. its now 12:30, and I just got back from watching movie...

The movie ROCKS!!
Greatly filmed, just beautiful film. Very well made.

Should you watch this movies? I think YES!!! Especially if you loved Braveheart or Passion of Christ.

This movie even more better and BLOODIER.. I mean BLOOD.. a lots of it.. A LOT!! .. Just for my taste. Almost every part of the movie is filled with blood. Starting from the first moments in the movie to the end.


Here is example.. I will tell the very first part of movie.

Several huntsmen chase Wild Pig... They have set up traps ahead. Each new trap, that Pig come across, lead him to the last one (the deadly trap). Here he come to the last one.. He cross the string, trap releases.. Big "wood thing with wood pikes" coming toward pig... Pig turn sideways and each 5 pike or so pierce him.... While he still hanging on those pikes..he still a live.. still you can see some movement, which slowly goes away. (hmm lovely.. )

Then, the group of hunters come to pig.. They pull the barely alive body of pig to the ground. Finishing him of with few blows to the head.

Then they cut it up.. Hmm (getting better and better). The son of leader cut out the heart and give this to one of his warriors. Next he cuts out some ears and give them to somebody else.

Then he cut the balls (hehehe .. yea ) and gives to one guy and tell him to eat them and your sex life will be better (he cannot get children from his wife and so other tribesmen laugh from him)
That "local loser" eat them (and yea you see this on the screen ).. He spits it out and every one laugh from him.....................

Well... The movie is beautiful. This is just one small part.. Other are much more interesting and beautifully made. Almost every movie is field with blood...... Very nice, and beautiful..

You should watch it!!!!

You will NOT be disappointed!!!!

And the part about Mayan city.. Well it just so well made.... Go watch the movie!!!

A-r-r-g-h.... The Captain be feeling ill, so's 'e do. All the same, the Captain 'an crew can't wait ta dock tha 'Ruddy Waif' and go see apocalypto. Oh, an eat yon popping corn. Coooooo, the Captain do like 'is popping corn.

Apparently this movie has been getting excellent reviews. Sounds like a great movie.

damn i wish they would release it in India soon , i cant wait to see this one just to see how the Mayan Warriors were like.

If you're politically correct, yes.

In the politically correct version of apocalypto all the mayans are holding hands while singing under the rainbow...don't worry it will be on DVD soon...

Personally I think this means the portayal is closer to the truth than anything. I must say I'm impressed by Mel's work and he's slowly becoming one my favorite directors. I think it's daring and original of him not to make the movie in the english language, but instead aramaic in the passion and whatever language the mayans spoke in apocalypto

But, I mean the story is great.. There a lot to story in the movie (in terms of what it trying to tell you)

Conquistadors are waaaay out of period! The Mayans were 9th/10th century (or was is 8th/9th?). I hear they're rather anachronistically shown at the end or something. Although I guess its more of a "look what happened 5 years later thing". I dunno though, I've not seen it!

According to my college textbook (not wikipedia, mind you ), Mayan civilization lasted until the 16th century. It was classical Mayan civilization that ended around the 9th/10th century.

Well.. They are different movies.. Different story. And they filmed differently.

Apocalypto is more of a action based... More in the second half of the movie.

Apocalypto is great movie. Pretty moving experience. (even when not talking about gore and such).

But the way its filmed is just great. Its almost put you in that world. And use of Mayan language and gore adds a lot of realism to the movie, I think.
