    Default Harder to kill generals?

I always thought that generals died too often in the campaign, especially when the army had big losses. I can be wrong, but wasn't this very rare to occur ? If it was not, is there a way to mod the game so instead of him dying, he would become injuried or something? ( Sorry if I made any mistakes, english is not my native language.)

I personally think generals die far less often in game than IRL.

What you "personally think" is completely irrelevant to what is actually historically accurate. "Personal" opinion is not factual.

In-game, especially against the AI, you can easily kill the enemy general in almost every battle. Generals died rarely during battle.

The opinion that I was expressing was that generals rarely die in battles, at least that I've played. Though I must say I dont play much vanilla and I do know AE generals have a penchant for being nigh invincible

That is a mischaracterization of what Petellius actually said. He did refer to his opinion, but in terms of his opinion of what happened historically. And you didn't provide anything to refute that notion besides your own statement to the contrary.

The question here is tricky and tough to determine based on actual historical arguments because the bulk of the evidence is just anecdotal. There are a long list of monarchs who died in battle. Of the Seleucids, nearly all of them died campaigning with the exception of I think only three or so. Multiple Parthian monarchs died fighting the nomads which was pretty common for any group who ruled Persia/Iran. The Romans found it in general shameful for a general to retreat in our time period when his army was beaten. Generals who died, even intentionally to inspire their men, are related to us.

Carthaginians? Hamilcar died in battle. Hasdrubal Barca died in battle.

Pyrrhus of Epirus died in battle. Both Scipio Africanus's father and uncle died in battle.

And when we step outside of battle, you'll notice that probably most of the famous or near-famous generals died from unnatural causes. Often directly after losing a battle.

It was hardly rare or even uncommon for a general to die in combat.

I would tend to agree it's easy enough to target the enemy general. The AI seems to use to almost intentionally martyr them with their suicidal charges.
