    Default Multiplayer campaign

    ***GAME UNDER WAY***

***You can still join, email me at spqrgarnier@fastmail.fm or post here***
    Current status:

    Garnier - Emperor
Mercja - Legio II, Legio V
Tiberius Graecus - XIV Legion, Octavianus' auxiliary legion, Hostilitus auxiliary legion
Jegui - Soon to take control of a new legion.

    Atticus - Temporarily not playing
Cromelex - Not heard from yet, no command until he emails me

Always exterminate any city to take, and destroy all buildings that are not roman culture.

More legions will be recruited and command given as Rome sees fit. Expect reinforcements to come.

The emperor will be sending troops to a fort on the front that can be used by the other three legions, first come first serve. But if you dont have an empty slot for the men, dont take them. Only have at most 1 mercenary unit in each legion as of now. This is to fill the empy slot. Some mercenaries will be garrisonning the border fort as well, and you may use them to fill that slot if you chose to.

    *** ORDERS *** 1-10-07 ***

Hostilitus' Legion is to protect the coast against Gaul, but not to come near the city of Nicea.

Octavianus' Legion is to take darantasia and hold it.

Legio XIV is to move north and defend the pass north of it, that has no current defenders.

Legio II and V are to take mediolanum first, and the take patavium once mediolanum is under control.

There would have to be at least three players, and this is how it would work.

1 player would be the emperor, and would start the game, and take care of construction, diplomacy, recruitment of new legions and urban cohorts.

The other players would be the generals, who would only have control over the legions that the emperor has given them command of. The emperor would give orders more or less complicated, for example, he could tell a general to invade gaul with the legions under his command, or he could give a more direct order such as take a certain city, or defeat a certain gaulic army or what not.

We would be playing by the houserules.

All important or big battles would have to be fought by the commanding general.

The saved game, after the emperor does his part of the turn, would be emailed to one of the generals, who would then move his legions and fight his battles, then email it on to the next general. Once it returns to the emperor, he would click end turn and fight defensive battles. Hopefully to avoid a lot of defensive battles, the generals could put their armies in forts and simply sally out to fight when their turn comes, rather than have the emperor fight their defensive battles.

If anything is unclear, please ask.

I think 4-6 players would be ideal. The theme would be very roman, as the Generals would always be jealous of the emperor's favour, and trying to get command over more legions than each other.

But it seems there is little interest. This thread remains open however, and if enough people want to play, post in here and if/when there are enough people, we can start.

I'm in, sounds sweet So what if the general dies in the battle does the player forfeit his rights or what? Also would we all start with one legion and the Senate player allocate more legions and generals to certain players base on the necessity of their campaign? And everyone remember the garrison script.

Im just so down here, i dont suspect creating a MP campaign wont be such a great idea because of a few reasons that i just thought.

Reason 1: Connecting to servers running campaign maps will take up a LOT of bandwidth and taking time to connect of loading up the factions, map, characters, cities and so on.

Reason 2: When beginning the campaign, it may take more than 5 minutes to manage your faction on that specific turn, organizing your cities, agents, armies and waiting for other players to take their moves.

Reason 3: The Lag, the lag is really a nuisance, if someone joins your server with a ping of 700 will just ruin the game and itll make your connection worse and itll slow your game down.

AND ALSO, it would take months and months to make up a GRAND MP CAMPAIGN because you have to do all the script files, army start positions, cities, agents (if any), advisor, vegetation and the land, and it is more likely that they MIGHT not make it.

    @ Captain Melonhead.

The campaign will be sent around as a savegame to each other. Your turn is when it gets sent to you. Play your turn and follow the message in the email the person playing the senate gives you, who your generals are, who to attack what to do, etc. Everyone will not be playing at once. Then email it back to the senate then they email it back to the next player.

Yes, that is expected. The Emperor will be sorely displeased with a General that is unable to hold his own though.

Hoping tiberius gets his turn in soon.

Since I see that you haven't played SPQR before, I suggest you play a singleplayer campaign for now, using the houserules and such, to get used to the game before joining this multiplayer campaign.
