    Default Easy economy?

    Hey,

I've been a playing tw games for a long time.
I do like the this modding scene, since rome 1.

I install DeI and i like the whole new approach.

But i have a few questions:
    a) I'm using a submod xxtpy/mod. Does that effect the reforms(aka better roman units) when it triggers? Is it now harcoded to trigger at a certain time? (100BC) or does it trigger after certain amount of turns?

    b) I'm finding it difficult to get a lot of money. I'm barely holding by for making 1-2 armies in the begin stadium of the campaign. The buildings are also very expensive :/
Are there submod who adress this?

Submos i have installed with DeI:
    decreased upkeep (only 20%)
    improved tpy/mod.

    b) Trade is the key for much money in this mod . Sometimes you will have to invest to get a trade contract with someone, but it'll pay out after some rounds. But only maintaining 1-2 armies in the beginning is a normal thing i think.

    A) AI has reforms set at a certain amount of turns. For the player on the other hand you also need a certain imperium level to trigger them. It's easily changeable in lua_scripts, reforms.lua - and I recommend you change it if you play at a higher tpy than normal.
I'm playing on 24 tpy and pushed all reforms later, otherwise I'd end up with reforms at 268 bc!

    B) I don't know of any submods that affect economy - but one way to boost it is to upgrade your town centres that have a resource. By doing it, you will get a lot more from trading tariffs. So basically you could prioritize construction tree in civic tech - then upgrade all your minor towns centres (and you could also build livestock farms to increase export even more). It also adds better garrisons to your towns, so it's worth it in many ways.

    Hope this helps.

The first 20-50 turns will probably be you putting down rebellions, saving money over multiple turns to build a tier 2 farm, and rushing your half stack armies to team up with local garrisons to beat back invaders.

Invest in dignitaries. Also pay attention to your generals traits.

Also important thing that makes everything very easy with right planning.

You do not need your armies for the most part. There are certain heavy and elite units that are waste of money to be fielded during peace time. For example in my Parthian campaign I had only 2 armies, only with cheapest spears, archers and horse archers, but there were few slots free (sometimes even more if I disbaned more units), but as soon as I wanted to conquer something or defend my land, I would use that saved cash to field 3-4 very heavy cavalry units that were enough to turn the tides of battle, then I would disband them as soon as the threat was gone.

Also, pay attention to your generals and agents starting traits. General gives a bonus to PO and growth? Stick that bastich in your rich provinces and keep him there. Stack your agent and general skills on top of each other.

For example. As selecuids I recruited a general who had -5% upkeep for land units. Put a champion with another -4% in his army. Bam, now we're almost at 10%. Then I put a dignitary in his province, almost up to 15%. Then he leveled up. I picked non mercenary recruitment. Now your general is only lvl 2 and is rocking almost -20% upkeep with no ancillaries.

Like KAM said, early game is all about that planning and micro managing.

And disband ALL cavalry you're not using. Thier upkeep is monstrous and experience is easy to get.

Mmmh I hope it won't be too slow :p Bronze and Silver ranks are quite fast to gain, but gold is slow enough imho

I'll ask this here as it seems to be sort of on topic, Do several generals (as governors) in the same province stack effects? IE: I have one in Rome who boosts farming by +5% and one in Naples who also boots it by 5% will the whole provenance have a +10% now? Or just the farms in each city have +5%?

If you check the province stat screen before and after you move the general in it should tell you.

This is on very hard difficulty. I own whole Italy + Liguria. Money is easy - granted I only have one full army, but still.

That is a lot of income . The best i could do was 10k a turn from Thracia with slave and commercial simulation .
