Default Medieval 2 wont play, but will install fine.

Hi, so I installed Medieval 2 no problem, but when I went to run the game an administrator message popped up asking is I allowed the application to make changes to the pc to which I said yes. But nothing happens.

Iv seen other posts and even downloaded Bare Geomod for Kingdoms as instructed on another thread, but I cant install kingdoms because I'm using windows 10 and says It isn't compatible.

Can anyone offer a solution? I just wanna play Vanilla Campaign (nostalgia) haha
I got a new rig that came with windows 10 by default

    Any help is appreciated

Hi Griffin, it's very strange that Kingdoms won't install for you. Have you tried/is there an option to try installing in "compatibility mode"?

Running the installation as administrator might do the trick.

Griffin, I had the same problem and discovered on the TW forum in a post by a guy named Frunk that the issue involved a Windows update (update KB3086255).

I simply deleted that update and restarted my laptop and -- voila!! -- M2TW and Kingdoms worked great!

Here's the link to Frunk's post:

And here's a link showing how to locate and delete KB3086255:

    Good luck!

Griffin's problem is slightly different insofar that he can install Medieval 2, but cannot install Kingdoms. Personally, other than yourself, I haven't heard of the KB3086255 update/the SafeDisc issue causing any issues with installation, only with launching the game. It could still be worth a try, I suppose.

Hello. To avoid that kind of problems, also helps to have the game outside of folder "Program Files (x86)". I've got the game in "C:\SEGA\Medieval II Total War\" and doesn't give me problems of administrator or prevents modifications.

It could be that had installed the "Medieval II 1.0" and needs to be upgraded to patch 1.3 to install the Kingdoms? Although I think that does it automatically, if I remember correctly. Another option is that the "medieval2.exe" file is cracked.
