Default A though about faction's color scheme

So I was testing out a few units in custom battle, and I noticed that for instance pergamese unitswear a mix of blue/and yellow clothes. As the Pergamese emblem is Purplish and Green, I thought it did not really match and give a general coherence. However the units do look very good.

Is it this way for historical accuracy purposes?

Small reminders of the faction's colors is good to make it look like a united force imo, little touches here and there are enough, no need to have unrealistic monochromatic armies like in Rome I

Well, those units were not made from scratch, rather they were put together using bits and pieces of units which had already been created. I don't think that they were purposefully given a color scheme. Nations didn't really do that sort of thing in ancient times anyway--it's more of a Hollywood/Total War thing as I understand it.

Sure, but what is weird is that some factions like Athens do have a color scheme more or less while others don't. I love the variety of style on hoplites for instance, but I don't mind cloth belts or cloaks bearing the color of the faction just to give that total war-ish feel

Well, the reason Pergamon is blue and yellow isn't historical... they had that color before patch 15 (emperor edition). We just never changed it to match the new faction symbol.

DeI already changed faction colors, to a certain degree at least. Otherwise e.g. hoplites would look almost the same for every faction. As Gorilla said it's more to distinguish your troops for the enemy's easier.

In vanilla everything looks way more colorful (in a bad, ahistorical, almost comic way imo).

One of the first mods in DeI that formed when we combined efforts was the Ancient Colors one by Epaminandos To dull a lot of the bright vanilla colors. We have further refined those over the course of the mod's history.

Oh you're so true The Ancient Colors mod, that was it!

Otherwise I put my previous post a little unprecise...

By that I meant, if the mod goes 100% historical, it would be so.

In the current state I love the colors! Especially the AOR units which don't have any faction colors at all add a lot to immersion. Also because they have faction specific officers in their units, something only those who love details probably ever noticed

Spoiler Alert, click show to read:

    Italian spearmen with Syracusian officer!

True, I love that as well. As much as I love M2TW, it really hurts playing as the byzantine empire, feels like you're commanding an army of eggplants.
