Icon5 Worth it to start a new campaign now? Or wait for next major update?

    Greetings folks,

OfficialDevin's Massalia Tales videos have pulled me back into Rome 2, specifically with the DeI mod. However, after flipping through some pages of this forum i suspect there is going to be a new major update in the near-future that will likely not be save-game compatible.

So i'm currently debating with myself whether or not i should just go for a new Grand Campaign with DeI, play a shorter DLC campaign, or just wait till after the next major update is released.

    Any comments, suggestions?

I would recommend starting a grand campaign play through to learn the supply system if you haven't played with it enabled yet.
If you wait till the last minute, it only takes a minute.

The answer is to play now and later

Will there be improvements in the next month or so? Yes. Then the next month and the next. The DEI team is the most active modding team I have ever seen. Improvements are posted every couple of weeks. Sometimes sooner. Just play IMO

How long is your average campaign? Two weeks? One month? If anything under two months then you are safe to start a campaign, as next update has no ETA so it can be released in two months or in four months, depends on some new stuff.

That is a good point there. I thought about it some more and came to the conclusion that i am likely going to binge on Total Warhammer when that is released. That's just over 2 months away, and i'm likely going to either finish, or get bored of, the DeI campaign. As you said there is no ETA on the next update so there should be enough time for me to play a modest campaign.

Learning from the past, WTW will be an early beta, full of crashes. Tthen you have wait for 2 years for the patches make the game playable. Then another 1-2 years for the modders to come out with a good mod (actually, I never play vanilla, I always wait for Foot, Dresden, Gigantus, Darth Vader or any other great guy to make a TW game enjoyable) . So I assume will I be playing WTW in 2020. At the beginning it's likely to be rather WTF.

You wont have to wait for modders as there wont be released any modding tools or support for TW Warhammer on request from Game Workshop (who own the Warhammer Universe)

There is also a current beta that is basically our next major update (1.15). Its the population system.

1.2 is definitely aways off still, no time table on that.
