For stratgegy, the grognards would take Matrix Game's Crown of Glory above Imperial Glory (the TW clone) without a second thought, from what I can gather.
For tactics, if the sight of an hexagon give you urticary, you'll pass on John Tiller's napoleonian series, and wait for the more innovative Grognards
never played them but i think the cossack games are in this kind of era but im nto sure what they play like
